TV RECAP: ‘The Office: Ultimatum’

“Ultimatum” follows up on Holly’s decision to force her fiancée AJ to either marry her or leave her, and no one’s more excited to know how that played out than Michael, who’s already gone overboard before even hearing the news and prepared (with the ever-adorable help of Erin) two emergency boxes: a happy one for if Holly’s left AJ (including streamers, champagne, a rubber mallet, etc.), and a sad one if she hasn’t (gummy bears, a sponge “to dry my tears,” and two fifths of scotch).

Meanwhile, Pam, taking a cue from the evidently more chipper staff of Bob Vance’s office (am I the only one who wants to see the inner workings of Vance Refrigeration?) sets up a “resolution board” for the rest of the office. The premise is that each member of the office writes down their New Year’s resolutions on a 3X5 card and posts it on the board. Then the board will be hung somewhere ostentatious to keep everyone committed to their word.

Holly shows up, and, after a quick tease as to whether she has an engagement ring (she doesn’t), she tells the nosier element of the office that AJ has not, in fact, committed, but she’s staying with him anyway, which naturally sends Michael into another depression.

Verizon’s First iPhone Ad Arrives

It’s no secret people have been waiting patiently (well, somewhat patiently) for Verizon to finally get the iPhone on its network. That time has now arrived and the phone is set to launch early next month.

With new product launches as important as this comes new ways to promote said launches. With that in mind, Verizon has releases its first commercial touting the big event.

We, of course, have that new commercial for you right here. It’s pretty good, actually, and helps feed the excitement that probably doesn’t really need to be fed. Everyone’s already about ready to explode. Or maybe that’s just us around here?

Anyway, check out the new commercial after the break. The Verizon iPhone hits stores on February 10th.

The World’s First Carnivore, Dinoshark, Makes His Way To Blu-Ray

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water…again, there is one more carnivore that you have to watch out for, and that’s Roger Corman’s Dinoshark. That’s right, the monstrous and ancient Dinoshark is making it’s way to Blu-Ray and DVD.

From the Anchor Bay press release:

Born in Antarctica, Dinoshark noses his way down the warmer currents to Mexico, towards a popular vacation spot crowded with party-goers unwittingly ready to fall prey to a prehistoric eating machine.  When the killings begin, it becomes clear that no normal animal can be responsible for such savagery.

Local captain Trace McGraw (Eric Balfour – “24”, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Skyline) and marine biologist Carol (Iva Hasperger – “CSI”, “Cold Case”) seem to be the only ones convinced that the creature terrorizing their shores is something other than the expected man-eating shark.  They enlist the help of the world’s only expert on the Dinoshark (Roger Corman himself).  Together, will they be able to reel Dinoshark in?

Get A Sneak Peek at Next Week’s ‘Being Human’

The series premiere of Syfy’s newest show, Being Human, broke records this week, as it pulled in a total of 2 million views in it’s 9pm timeslot. It seems that fans of horror and sci-fi still wanted more of the world after The Walking Dead was unleashed on the world back in October.

Now, the network is planning on continuing that trend next Monday with it’s second episode, part two of “There Goes The Neighborhood”. From Syfy:

In the next all-new episode, Josh starts to become uneasy about having Sally’s former fiancé Danny over to the house.  Uneasy is probably a lighthearted term compared to Josh’s state of concern.  Sally begs and pleads but Josh fears Danny could potentially sell the place or turn it into an amusement if he’s able to see Sally as a ghost.  Aidan stays calm and collected as usual.  Will Danny see Sally or will he pass right by her?  You will have to watch the clip and tune in to the next episode airing Monday, January 24th at 9/8c on Syfy.

You heard them, you WILL have to tune in next week to find out exactly what happens to Sally and the gang, but in the meantime you can check out a sneak peek of the episode after the jump.

Game Review: ‘Bomberman Battlefest’ for XBLA

Sometimes players say they want something completely different to turn a franchise on its head. That’s when they wind up with Bomberman: Act Zero. Other times, players just want an upgraded version of the same game like they get with yearly iterations to the Madden franchise. That’s when they get Bomberman Battlefest. Sadly there are times when the minimalist approach don’t give a strong enough reason for old players to come back.

Gameplay:

The basics of Bomberman and why it has always been fun have not changed. Players start at various locations on a grid map where they set bombs that launch fire in up, down, left and right of the bomb’s location. At first, players are only able to set one bomb at a time which only spreads one tile in each direction and once a bomb is placed it is stuck there. If the fire hits a player, they die. Simplistic as this concept is, it quickly gets turned on its head with the inclusion of any of the myriad of powerups that expand the distance a bomb explodes, increases the number of bombs a player can set or changes the effect of a specific bomb being placed.
