New ‘A Nightmare On Elm Street’ Clip Will Keep You Awake

This year has been pretty quiet for horror films so far. The beginning kicked off with Shutter Island and Wolfman, but after that, things seemed to slow down. Now we’re getting ready for the big summer rush, and one film that could fall into the “blockbuster” and horror category is the remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street, which hits theaters in 2 weeks.

Lots of die hard fans of the original were pretty upset when they heard that the beloved classic was getting the typical Hollywood reboot, until they saw the trailer. Music Video director Samuel Bayer managed to capture the essence that made the original Wes Craven films truly horrifying.

That emotion is amplified even more when we got a glimpse at Jackie Earl Haley (Watchmen) as Freddy Krueger. Check out a brand new clip, entitled “All you have to do is dream”, after the jump.

Be sure to catch A Nightmare On Elm Street in theaters everywhere on April 30th.

Apple Delays International iPad Shipments Until May

Well folks, if you happen to live anywhere else except the good old US of A and you desperately want to get your hands on Apple’s latest beauty the iPad, your wait for the device just got a bit longer. Today, Apple announced that due to high demand in the States, all international sales have been delayed until the end of May.

Here’s the company’s official statement on the matter:

Although we have delivered more than 500,000 iPads during its first week, demand is far higher than we predicted and will likely continue to exceed our supply over the next several weeks as more people see and touch an iPad™. We have also taken a large number of pre-orders for iPad 3G models for delivery by the end of April.

Faced with this surprisingly strong US demand, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the international launch of iPad by one month, until the end of May. We will announce international pricing and begin taking online pre-orders on Monday, May 10. We know that many international customers waiting to buy an iPad will be disappointed by this news, but we hope they will be pleased to learn the reason—the iPad is a runaway success in the US thus far.

Bummer. Our sincere sympathies for those of you living elsewhere. We hope you get your iPads soon.

TV RECAP: ‘Justified: The Lord of War and Thunder’

Warning: this recap contains spoilers. This episode begins with Raylan and Rachel staked out in front of a small house, waiting for any sign that the residence might be harboring the husband (and father) who just happens to be a fugitive on the run for killing a cop.  It’s day three of being crowded into an incognito van, and the only indication that there may be a man in the house is the copious amount of beer being brought in by the wife. Art tells them to hang it up, they have nothing to go on.

Raylan keeps pleading for one more day, and takes matters into his own hands.  He approaches the house, and  sweet talks the wife into letting him do some yard work in exchange for food.  She reluctantly agrees. What woman could actually turn Timothy Olyphant away?  She’s powerless, really.

That night, Raylan and Ava sip on some beers and talk before retiring to a motel room.  I certainly hope that they start fleshing out Ava’s character if she is going to be sticking around, because she is starting to come off as boring and vapid.  She giggles and builds up Raylan’s ego, completely in awe of his under-cover escapades, but it seems like he is not the type of man who needs that type of reassurance.  I have yet to see her contribute anything intelligent to any conversation thus far.

Google Docs Gets An Update

If you’ve been using Google Docs because you’re looking for a collaborative platform to work in that resides in the “cloud” or you just hate Microsoft and its Office products, then this post is for you. This week, the search giant announced a series of updates to Google Docs which are sure to make fans of the cloud-based service very happy indeed.

Some of these updates included the documents editor, which received additions such as a margin ruler, tab stops, comments, a re-worked system for placing and maintaining bullets and numbers and support for real-time collaboration of up to 50 people. In addition, spreadsheets now allows for cells to be edited from the formula bar, the use of auto-fill and the dragging and dropping of columns.

Plus, the system is reportedly going to be much faster, smoother and more intuitive. In truth, there are so many improvements announced by Google that it would almost be a disservice to them to try and list them all. Besides, why read about something when you can watch it instead, right?

Fortunately, Google has put together a little video highlighting the changes and we’ve got it right here for you after the jump. Check it out.

Exclusive: Broken Lizard’s Kevin Heffernan Talks ‘Slammin Salmon’, ‘Rogue Scholars’ & ‘Super Troopers 2’

Yesterday, fans everywhere got treated to the DVD and Blu-Ray release of the latest film from the Broken Lizard comedy troop, The Slammin’ Salmon. The team had previously brought films like Super Troopers, BeerFest, and Club Dread into the “greatest hits” lists of college kids everywhere.

We recently got a chance to sit down with one of the members of the team, Kevin Heffernan, who is best known as “Farva” from 2001’s Super Troopers. Kevin also makes his directorial debut with Salmon, and he discussed some of the perils of being a first time director.

The Flickcast: So for those who weren’t able to catch the limited theatrical run of Slammin’ Salmon, what can you tell us about the flick?

Kevin Heffernan: It’s kind of a “down the middle” comedy. We return to the Super Troopers roots that we had, and made an independent film that we tried to pack as many laughs into as we could. I can’t give you a laugh per second quotient, but I think we got a lot of good laughs in there and we’re pretty happy with it.

Just to give you an overview of it, we play waiters in a restaurant, which is owned by a crazy former Heavyweight Champion of the World, kind of like a Mike Tyson guy (played by Michael Clarke Duncan). He sets up a contest over the course of one night, and says that he’ll give the top selling waiter $10,000, and the lowest selling waiter gets the crap kicked out of him.

We tried to pack as many jokes into that thing as we could.

‘Footloose’ Remake Finds A Director

Not many people are fans of “reboot” news these days. Considering things like Real Genius and Laverne & Shirley are getting rebooted, it’s almost a wonder if anything good that can be called a “reboot” is in the works. That brings us to the pending remake of 1984’s Footloose.

Originally set for High School Musical director Kenny Ortega, he ended up backing out just five months before production was set to start over budget constraints and creative differences. Now, according to Variety, things seem to be back on track with the hiring of a new director.

Paramount’s redo of “Footloose” is back on course, with Craig Brewer set to direct the high-profile project from his rewritten script. However, Brewer will have to find a new lead now that Chace Crawford is exiting the project due to scheduling conflicts with the CW’s “Gossip Girl.” Par insiders said Monday that casting will commence immediately. Studio intends for Brewer to begin lensing this summer.

President of production Adam Goodman has stated that he wants a new and edgier remake, which should be what he’ll get by hiring Brewer, who’s previous films include Hustle & Flow and Black Snake Moan.
