Xbox Live Summer Dashboard Update Drops On August 11th

xbox-live-logoSet to go live on August 11th, the Summer XBox Live update adds three new features for players to use to expand their XBox Live experience.

Part 1: Games on Demand

Much like the XBox Originals program which has slowed down as of late, players will be able to download full XBox 360 games to their hard drive after purchasing a digital copy off XBox Live Marketplace. Unlike installing the game from the disk, players will not need to insert a disc in to the drive to play the game as all licenses will be saved to the hard drive as well.

To make transactions easier, players can use credit or debit cards to purchase games instead of being forced to use Microsoft points and causing extra unnecessary steps in the purchasing process. Prices have not yet been released for the following titles which should be live when the update launches.

The Pull List Comic Reviews: ‘War of Kings’, ‘Ghost Rider: Heaven’s On Fire’ & More!

Pull of the Week:

war of kingsWar of Kings #6 – Marvel – $3.99

Score: 8.5

Wow. That’s the first reaction after reading this issue. Any sort of recap of the events in it would unfortunately be spoilerific due to that fact that so much happens of consequence in its pages. And with an issue this good, spoilers would take away from so many of the great moments upon reading through it. What can be told is that as expected, the war itself comes to a conclusion in this issue.

War of Kings #6 starts off with Vulcan and Black Bolt squaring off inside the t-bomb ship, Black Bolt’s weapon that if detonated would release terrigen mists throughout the universe transforming all its people in to Inhumans. The book goes back and forth between this fight and gives glimpses of others who have been pulled in to the conflict like the Inhuman royal family, Havok and Polaris, and Gladiator.

This issue revolves around emotion. Vulcan’s insane rage and overconfidence is contrasted by Black Bolt’s cold and calculated silence. The king of the Inhumans knows he was going to be on a mission there’d be no coming back from by setting off the t-bomb and the determination and fervor he fights with shows he has full intentions of following through on this.

The Inhuman royal family is filled with anger of their own as some members applaud Black Bolt’s actions while others who were unaware of his intentions violently plead to know why they were not brought up to speed. Havok, Polaris and Gladiator all look at the war in mourning, seeing what once was a great empire of the Imperium before Vulcan defiled it and the Inhuman’s assault ravaged it to a point that it may never recover from under anyone’s leadership.

Redband ‘Zombieland’ Trailer Goes Live

zombielandWe here at The Flickcast have been pretty vocal about our love of all things zombie, so it only makes sense for us to swoon over new footage of this Fall’s horror comedy Zombieland starring Jessie Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson. Now hitting the web is a new swear-tastic “Redband” trailer with slightly more footage.

Written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, (who’s claim-to-fame is creating the reality-tv parody The Joe Shmoe Show) and directed by Ruben Fleischer (who directed 3 episodes of The Jimmy Kimmel Show), the film focuses on two men who have found a way to survive a world overrun by zombies. Check out the new trailer after the jump, which has slightly more footage, and much more zombie-goodness.

The film stars Jesse Eisenberg (Adventureland), Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone’s (Superbad) and Abigail Breslin’s (Little Miss Sunshine) and is said to be “Hollywood’s answer to Shaun of the Dead”, but will probably shake that stereotype once we finally see it on the big screen October 9th.

Check out all the “Redband” zombie action after the jump.

First Trailer for ‘The Vampire’s Assistant’

vampires_assistant-1Seeing as how Vampires are all the rage these days, why not do a film with Walk Hard’s John C. Reilly as a century-old vampire in a cape? There is no wrong answer to that question, only Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant.

Based on the series of Cirque Du Freak books by Darren Shan, the film is a fantasy-adventure about a teenager who unknowingly breaks a 200-year-old truce between two warring factions of vampires. The trailer doesn’t really give off the “warring vampires” vibe, but rather Harry Potter meets Carnivale.

The film also stars Ken Watanabe, Josh Hutcherson, Patrick Fugit, Jane Krakowski and Salma Hayek. Cirque Du Freak hits theaters October 23. Check out the trailer after the jump.

‘Robin Hood’ Returns for Third Season on BBC America

robin-hood-bbc-americaJust in case you’re not aware, BBC America has other shows besides Doctor Who and Torchwood. Although those two are great, another drama is making some waves across the pond as well and that drama is Robin Hood. Its a fun program with lots of action, solid performances, interesting characters and humor which make it a great way to spend your time — especially if you’re looking for a break from a contemporary setting, sci-fi, time travel or monsters.

Apparently, I’m not the only Robin Hood fan out there because its been given a third season on the network. Here’s all the info from the official press release.

BBC AMERCA’s hit revival of Robin Hood returns for a bigger, bolder third season of action-adventure. Toby Stephens (Die Another Day, Jane Eyre) and David Harewood (The Vice, The Palace) join the cast of Jonas Armstrong (Teachers, The Ghost Squad), Richard Armitage (MI-5, North & South), and Keith Allen (Bodies, The Others) as Robin continues to outwit the dastardly Sheriff and his forces—but Robin’s not the same crusader he once was. Since the death of Marian, Robin’s in a downward spiral fuelled by anger and grief – he can think of nothing but revenge.

Meanwhile, a wave of corruption and evil has been sweeping the land. Luckily, a mysterious new ally in the form of a traveling monk, Tuck (Harewood) arrives just in time to get the hooded hero back on track. This season holds incredible twists and turns—take nothing for granted!
