I will have to admit that I’ve not watched the FX series Damages very much. In truth, I’ve only seen the first few episodes. However, that hasn’t stopped the show from being a hit with many fans.
Unfortunately, that number of fans wasn’t enough for FX to keep the show on the air another season and it was officially canceled. But wait, there’s good news if you love the show. According to Deadline, the ratings-challenged show has been rescued by DirecTV. What does this mean? Well, count on Glenn Close, Rose Byrne and other major cast members being on board for two more seasons (20 episodes) of the Emmy-nominated show.
In addition, the satellite company is also picking up the rights to air seasons one through three so fans will get a chance to experience the series in its entirety all on one network. This deal will be different than DirecTV’s previous pickup of NBC’s canceled Friday Night Lights in that, unlike that show, Damages will only air on the satellite network and not on NBC as well.
Expect more episodes of Damages to being airing on DirecTV next year.

We’re big fans of the i.TV application for the iPhone and iPod Touch here at The Flickcast. Previously, we clued you in on some of the exciting possibilities for this application when it reaches version 2.0.
Now, that day has arrived and the update to i.TV is now available in iTunes.
EW LOOK, ITUNES, ALERTS, AND REMOTE CONTROL
Remote Control: i.TV now combines the TV guide and the remote control on an iPhone or iPod touch. Remote controls are powered by the i.TV Remote Control Framework, which allows third parties to develop remote controls for use on the i.TV platform.
TiVo remote: TiVo is the first to introduce a soft remote on i.TV. You can now change the channel, fast forward, record and most importantly play your favorite shows and movies, with just a tap on your iPhone or iPod touch.
New look: i.TV now has a simplified and streamlined user interface.
iTunes: From within i.TV, discover related TV and movie content and then tap to download from iTunes.
Push notifications: Set alerts for when your favorite TV shows air. Never miss a show again
Here’s a look at some of the new features:

i.TV is arguably one of the most useful and feature-rich iPhone application ever invented, especially if you’re a movie or TV lover. This app serves as a one-stop-shop for all your local movie schedules, TV programming — be it cable, satellite or broadcast — community news, movie trailers, ticket purchases, Netflix que management and much more. As if all these features weren’t enough, the app does all this and is also absolutely free. How’s that for a deal?
Now, the fine folks who make this very useful app have announced some details for their upcoming update to i.TV. This new version, dubbed 2.0, will offer a host of updates and improvements which will undoubtedly further enhance this apps’ already tremendous usefulness.
Some of these new features and updates include:
• A new, improved UI – One of the few areas where the app actually needed improvement.
• iTunes integration — Control movie, tv, episode, etc. purchases from within the app.
• Push notifications — Push alerts for show reminders, new episodes, etc.
• The i.TV Remote Control Framework — New support for universal remotes. Devices can be connected via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or dock-connector. The new version currently supports TiVo HD and TiVO HD XL boxes but more devices are on the way — including rumored support for DirecTV boxes (fingers crossed for that one).
Version 2.0 of i.TV is currently pending review in the Apple iTunes Store, so look for it to drop hopefully very soon. Meanwhile, take a look at the video after the jump that highlights some of version 2.0’s upcoming features.
