‘Iron Man 2′ Easter Eggs Revealed – Major Spoilers!

by Matt Raub, May 6 2010

Since Favreau’s first Iron Man film pulled the wool over the eyes of many fans by sneaking in a special scene after the credits, fans are now on the hunt to make sure they are aware of as many secrets as possible before Iron Man 2 hits theaters at midnight tonight.

We brought you a description of this film’s post-credit sequence last week, in which we get a peak at an upcoming film from Marvel Studios. Now we’re getting a few killer screen shots of even more hidden secrets from the flick.

We have to be fair to everyone and let you know that these can be a MAJOR SPOILER for those who don’t want to know. Of course, we understand that Iron Man 2 will tie into other films under the Marvel umbrella such as Thor, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, and The Avengers, but this gives us more concrete proof.

Check out the images taken from Iron Man 2 after the jump, or wait till you see the film and come back for a full analysis of just what you saw. Either way, it’s cool to see that Favreau had the foresight to add these easter eggs. Thanks to our pals at ComicBookMovie.com for the analysis.

It's official: "The Avengers Initiative"

Showing the global hot spots where meta activity has been reported.

Africa a hot spot? Possibly hinting at Black Panther?

The crater that gets explained in the post-credit sequence.

The same news footage from The Incredible Hulk

Could this be Cap's shield? A bit CGI-ey?

I just saw Thor, and it was clearly in the same setting as Iron Man. S.H.I.E.L.D. is involved in Thor, and they mention Tony Stark once in the film.

People there was also another reference to Captain America in The Incredible Hulk. When the villain(The Abomination) was injected with the gamma radiation, it was a prototype of the “super soldier initiative” Which Captain America will be.

I heard that the Invaders will be seen or mentioned in the Cap America movie. I’m betting we’ll see Namor and Black Panther in the Cap movie, in the Avengers or both.

No, the Thor Marker is Definitely New Mexico were the film ends and the Thunder Gods presence is felt. Africa is definitely Black Panther. NYC is most likely the Hulk Activity cause that is were the Films Final Fight is which should be around the time this scene is going on. Remember this movie takes place directly before The Incredible Hulk. The Point to the Atlantic could very well be Namor but not Atlantis. That is exactly were Namor’s sort of “Fortress of Solitude” lies and That is F’n Awesome. Arctic is obviously Cap. The Europe one is Circled clearly over Norway. It would have to be about about 4inches lower to be Germany. Great fun that movie was, for fans and non fans alike. My wife could care less about comics and went to see it again with enthusiasm.

What’s wrong with Cap’s Shield you say?
It’s pretty obvious that it’s not a finished piece, probably a prototype.
I think it’s probably something that Tony’s dad, Howard, was probably working on in ww2.
Because people may forget that the shield he used in ww2 is not the same one that he has now. I guarantee that when Cap is thawed out from being frozen, SHEILD will turn to Stark, like “hey, remember that new design you (or your father) were working on…”
    Boo yah!
Oh, and I can’t believe nothing has been said about what is after the credits.
Which was the coolest thing in the entire movie in my opinion.
I love how marvel is finally getting their shit together, and realized, we need to stay true to the comics, and tie films together.
    Duh, ya know.

    @ Ben

I think the Hulk reference is correct, because they give a hot spot for Hulk as being in the North East, which is where Hulk was during the film, in NYC(North east), but everything else you are spot on about.

to me it looks like the referenes to red skull and hulk are wrong in the map. the point does not look like germany but southern norway, Thor, which in this ontinuity may have already happened, and hulk would be the reference in the middle of the U.S. or eve n ant man, because thats on marvels list to do
