Exclusive Interview: WWE’s World Champion Kane Talks About His Upcoming Summerslam Match

Posted on August 12, 2010 by John Carle

Comic-Con doesn’t just mean comics as we are sure you have noticed. It means TV, movies and toys as well. Someone very familiar with this is the WWE. World Wrestling Entertainment has relaunched their action figure line under Mattel over the past year and as a result had a huge presence at SDCC.

And it wasn’t just toys that were being shown off. Unlike He-Man, the characters in the WWE action figure line are real people and they came to show themselves off at San Diego.

One of the most dominant men in the WWE over the past decade has been Kane. The Big Red Monster holds records in the WWE’s Royal Rumble match, garners multiple WrestleMania showcase matches under his belt and has been a multi-time champion with an impressive 16 title reigns, including a staggering 9 reigns in the tag team division and a WWE Championship.

Most recently, Kane won SmackDown’s Money in the Bank Ladder match at the Money in the Bank Pay-Per-View. In doing so, he was able to cash in his Money in the Bank title match and defeat Rey Mysterio later that night to start his first reign as World Heavyweight Champion.

Kane, though having beaten a San Diego native, was greeted at Comic Con with open arms. As you will see below in the full interview, Kane considers the denizens of Comic Con to be “his people”. Having been a monster for his tenure at WWE and then his appearance as Jacob Goodnight in See No Evil, Kane is no stranger to the world of the Con.

Check out the interview in its entirety to see what else Kane has planned for Rey Mysterio at SummerSlam.

About John Carle

The Definition of “Geek Chic.” Comic books, sci-fi movies, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Lord of the Rings and more all rolled up in a Diesel wearing, club going socialite package. Having worked in both advertising and television, John is a lifetime writer always being a part of the creative process. John knows the television world between his experience on being involved with the production process of over two hundred episodes of prime time tv and being a self admitted media whore. Yes he has a weakness for trash tv, Michael Bay-esque action movies and the raunchy teen comedy as well. Never try to debate the Original Star Wars Trilogy versus Star Trek with him because the Holy Trilogy always comes out on top. Having partied with movie stars to Playboy centerfolds, John is somehow always able to find someone’s inner geek. The simplest rules that John lives by is to have fun and doing what makes him happy. There’s no shame in being a geek. Play Halo, read Spider-Man and proudly display the whole series of Neon Genesis: Evangelion on your DVD rack. And most importantly, make sure to read his weekly comic book pull list reviews at The Flickcast.

A lot of people don’t know this but he’s actually one of the most easy going nicest people backstage at WWE and most of wrestling, regardless of how intense and full of hatred his persona on tv is. Glen Jacobs is definitely a class act. Hope WWE lets him hold the title for a while, he has been loyal through the years with all the gimmicks and time he spent out of the lime light. Only seems justified he gets at least a few months of holding it.

Good to see a Kane interview even though his easy goingness seemed out of character!
