April 13, 2012 – Cabin in the Woods
The Cabin in the Woods (Distributed by Lionsgate Films) Produced by Joss Whedon, this film promises a new spin on the basic remote thriller concept in this voyeuristic slasher.
April 20, 2012 – House at the End of the Street
(Distributed by Relativity Media) Based on a treatment and short story written by Jonathan Demme and Mostow, the story focuses on a girl’s discovery of the murder in the home across the street from her new home. Things become complicated when she befriends the victim’s son.
May 11, 2012 – Dark Shadows
(Distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures) Based on the 1966 ABC soap opera features Barnabas Collins returning to his old estate and is welcomed with a variety of secrets from his descendants.
June 8, 2012 – Prometheus
(Distributed by 20th Century Fox) originally intended as a two part prequel to ‘Alien’, the film is now being treated as a standalone feature. A team of explorers may have discovered man’s origins which leads them into the deepest regions of the universe where they must inevitably fight for the future of mankind.
June 15, 2012 – The Woman in the Fifth
(Distributed by ATO Pictures) This film is based upon the book written by Douglas Kennedy. An American writer begins an affair with a sophisticated Parisian woman who may or may not be involved with the recent murders surrounding them.
June 22, 2012 – Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
(Distributed by 20th Century Fox) Vampires are thought to be the real problem behind the Civil War and President Lincoln is just the man to get this riff raff sorted out. A trained assassin secretly battles undead creatures.
August 10, 2012 – Warm Bodies
(Distributed by Summit Entertainment) Based on the novel written by Isaac Marion. A zombie forms a bond with the girlfriend of one of his victims and inspires change within the undead community in this zombie film like no other.
August 24, 2012 – Sinister
(Produced by Blumhouse Productions) the new home inhabited by a journalist and his family also happens to of been the same location in which the previous occupants were murdered. Recovered footage points toward the first families’ downfall. The viewed footage may have also reawakened a restless specter.
The Apparition (Distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures) A menovelent force accidentally conjured during a parapsychology experiment is unleashed into the home of a young couple. The spirit feeds off their fear and constantly torments them. In desperation they turn to an expert in the supernatural for assistance.
August 31, 2012 – 7500
(Distributed by CBS Films) Passengers aboard a transpacific flight encounter what appears to be a supernatural presence.
The Possession (Distributed by Lionsgate Films) a family finds themselves the owners of a possessed box and struggle to rid themselves of its evil. This film is based on the L.A. Times article “Jinx in A Box”
September 14, 2012 – Resident Evil: Retribution
(Distributed by Sony Screen Gems) this is the fifth installment in the franchise.
