MTV Announces the Return of ‘Beavis and Butt-Head’

90’s nostalgia must be at an all-time high, as MTV announced they will be returning Beavis and Butthead to the network sometime this summer. After months of rumors, and even a brief cameo by the two head-banging animated idiots in the network’s flick ‘Jackass 3D,’ it appears the show will indeed be a part of the MTV line-up later this year.

In New York, at the channel’s annual upfront presentation, it was revealed that among the episodes being planned is a Jersey Shore spoof in which Beavis and Butt-head watch the reality show. According to the LA Times the two cartoon characters will poke fun at ex-Jersey Shore star Angelina and her orange tan in one episode.

In the off-chance you are unfamiliar with the premise of the original Beavis and Butt-Head show, each episode generally consisted of the duo making fun of awful grunge and heavy metal music videos and going on hilariously offensive adventures together. Originally created by Mike Judge (King of the Hill, Office Space, Idiocracy), the show managed a 200 episode run between its premiere in 1993 and its finale in 1997. The animated series also spawned a feature flick based on the animated duo, a comic book series, video games for various platforms of that era, and even appearances at the VMA’s and David Letterman’s “The Late Show.”

Oddly enough, Justin Bieber seemed pretty psyched by the news, tweeting: “solid day in NYC. played hoops and just went to the MTV Upfronts…BEAVIS and BUTTHEAD are coming back!!!” We’re not entirely sure if Bieber is old enough to have caught the show during its original run, but who knows? Perhaps he’s checked them out on DVD?

So, are you as stoked as Bieber is about the return of Beavis and Butt-Head? Be sure to let us know in the comments section. As Butt-head would probably say, “Huh huh huh, he said ‘Beaver’ heh heh oh yeah.”

Oh boy, here we go again.
