‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Adds Two More Mutants to the Cast List

The cast list for X-Men: Days of Future Past is starting to get a little ridiculous. Featuring the bulk of the cast from X-Men: First Class and significant portions of the original X-Men trilogy, the film is going to be the most jam-packed mutant spectacular this side of the funny books.

So the most recent casting news should not come as a huge surprise. Deadline is reporting that Bryan Singer has nabbed yet another classic X-Man for his upcoming new film:

Deadline has confirmed the actress will reprise her role as Storm in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men: Days Of Future Past. There had been serious concern this wouldn’t work out, but I’m told it has. The X-Men: First Class will be bolstered by most of the original X-cast, including Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore and Hugh Jackman.

Even though Halle Berry was a bit of a weak link in the original trilogy, the character is important, and after more than a decade of experience since she first took on the role, Berry should be more well suited for the role than ever.

In addition to Storm returning to the fold, the film is also adding another important new role. French actor Omar Sy, recently in The Intouchables, has also signed onto the film. It is not clear just yet who he will be playing, but the good odds are on him taking on the role of Bishop, the time displaced mutant who is often at the center of X-related time travel drama.

Despite Bishop’s time jumping history, he wa snot actually featured in the story this film is based on. The original Days of Future Past comic book story was printed a few years before Bishop was even created. However, in the X-Men animated series of the mid ’90s, Bishop was central in the Days of Future Past plot, so adding the character to the story is not entirely without precedent.

Casting news has been furious on this film in the past weeks, keep it tuned to The Flickcast for more X-news as it happens..
