To celebrate the home entertainment release of the X-Men: Days of Future Past Rogue Cut Blu-ray on July 14th, fans at San Diego Comic-Con were treated to a special advance screening of the extended version of the film. Shown on four screens simultaneously at the Reading Cinema in downtown San Diego on Saturday, July 11, the Rogue Cut features an extra 17 minutes of footage including bringing Anna Paquin’s Rogue into the film’s main plot.
The additional scenes add some more humor and action to the film. It’s important to note that although the Rogue storyline accounts for probably 50% of the extra footage, the other 50% is equally as golden. Highlights of the later portions include some very funny bantering between Quicksilver and Magneto and a romantic scene between Beast and Mystique. Several fans at the SDCC screening pointed out they had already seen these portions online as deleted scenes.
As for the Rogue bits, they fit and strangely enough they seem essential to the plot. Sadly, since we’ve all seen how the film carries on without, they end up feeling more superfluous than they were intended to be. That said, that Bryan Singer was able to take Rogue out and still make Days of Future Past work and work well is commendable. It couldn’t have been easy to re-work scenes, dialogue, and climatic moments all to remove one character.

You knew it was bound to happen. After all, it’s been years since the last cinematic incarnation of Marvel’s Fantastic Four. You know, the one that featured Captain America‘s Chris Evans in his first Marvel superhero role: Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch.
Well, have no fear, there’s a new version of the Fantastic Four coming our way. In fact, the first teaser for it just dropped and we have to say, it looks pretty good. Sure, you could argue about some of the casting or story choices (especially certain family ties, or lack of) but that’s not really the point.
This is a movie based on a comic book series. It may not satisfy everyone, especially hard-core comics fans, but it might just be a good movie anyway.
We’ll find out when it hits theaters on August 7. Check it out after the break.

And, we’re back. We took a week off last week for various reasons, but now we’ve got a brand new episode of The Flickcast for you. As usual, there’s no need to thank us.
On this week’s show Chris and Joe take on some new topics and revisit old ones. Some of these topics include X-Men: Days of Future Past, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, the true Star Wars day, Starlog magazine, Gareth Edwards and the new Star Wars, Godzilla, shakeups in the Marvel world including Edgar Wright leaving Ant Man and Drew Goddard leaving the Daredevil TV series, the merits of time travel, the history of the Rancor and a whole lot more.
It’s a pretty good episode, all things considered. Plus, all the more is pretty amazing.
The guys also made picks this week. Chris’ pick is the novel The Hydra Protocol by David Wellington and Joe’s pick is the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 4.

Once again there’s a brand new episode of The Flickcast for you to enjoy. And on the correct day too. Again. Two weeks in a row. Wow, right?
As you would expect, this week Chris and Joe take on some new topics and revisit old ones. Some of these include, you may have guessed, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Joss Whedon’s latest bit of cinema (which may change the world as we know it), that controversial Game of Thrones scene from last Sunday, the amazing (TBD) sequel to the classic Sword and the Sorcerer and whole lot more. Yes, more! You can’t handle all the more!
This week’s picks include Chris’ pick of the beer Modern Times from the gang at, well, Modern Times Beer and Joe’s pick of the webcomic Cura Te Ipsum.

Each time new trailers, photos or whatever drops from this upcoming movie, we get even more excited. Not that that’s really possible at this point as we’re already about as excited as you can get
There’s no doubt, we’re seeing this one opening day (or sooner, if possible). Yes, as the title says, we’re talking about X-Men: Days of Future Past.
There’s a new trailer out now and yes, it looks awesome. In this movie Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) goes back in time 50 years to alter history and hopefully prevent some bad shit from going down.
Does he succeed? Probably. But along the way you can be sure he kicks a lot of ass. As you might expect.
Along for the ride in this one, besides Jackman, are James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Michael Fassbender, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Peter Dinklage, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Fan Bingbing, Omar Sy, Nicholas Hoult and more.
Look for X-Men: Days of Future Past to arrive on May 23. Check out the trailer after the break.

That whole “getting back on track” thing we were harping about a couple weeks ago? Yeah, that didn’t work out so well. We’re trying, believe us.
But sometimes, things don’t work out as planned. Until, of course, they do. That’s right, here’s a brand new episode of The Flickcast for your listening pleasure.
As usual, this week Chris and Joe take on some new topics and some old ones. Some of these include new trailers for The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, X-Men: Days of Future Past, more casting news from the world of movies and TV, The Walking Dead finale, the awesomeness of Magnum, P.I. and a whole lot more.
Just listen. You’ll enjoy it.
This week’s picks include Chris’ pick of the HBO series Game of Thrones and Joe’s pick of the bittorrent software BitTorrent Sync for Mac, PC, iOS and Android.

To be honest, I’m kinda looking frward to this movie more than pretty much any other this Summer. Why? Well, because it’s the X-Men, that’s why.
Plus, Bryan Singer in the director’s chair and a cast that’s the envy of the civilized movie-watching world. Also, it just looks cool. Oh, and because this sound like a movie I’m gonna love:
The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The beloved characters from the original “X-Men” film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from the past, “X-Men: First Class,” in order to change a major historical event and fight in an epic battle that could save our future.
And yes, there’s a new trailer that’s just dropped today. Check it out after the break.
Look for X-Men: Days of Future Past to arrive in theaters on May 23.

Say what you will about Bryan Singer’s take on the X-Men, but at least his was way better than what that other guy did with X-Men: Last Stand. Jeez, what a mess that was.
And don’t get us started on his desire to do a Battlestar Galactica movie. We’ve covered that, but it’s not the point right now. This is about the X-Men.
Anyway, Singer has been working on a new X-Men movie, a sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s excellent X-Men: First Class, and now there’s a new trailer for it for all to see.
In it we get a good look at the movie and the mutants who will be joining forces to battle the Sentinels. And yes, that list is pretty impressive.
Check out the trailer after the break. Look for X-Men: Days of Future Past to hit theaters on May 23, 2014.

This week on The Flickcast, Chris and Matt are back and better than ever. Or, they’re pretty much the same as ever.
But that’s not a bad thing. In fact, the “same” for these two talented dudes is pretty much awesome. So, sit back, relax and enjoy this episode where the boys discuss all manner of topics including the awesome Insane Office Escape video, some visual effects news, X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Hobbit, the first day of shooting on Godzilla, new Ant Man footage, Jean-Claude Van Damme in The Avengers and, the most important thing, a fundraiser for their friend Flitz who needs an operation and doesn’t have the money.
Fortunately, you can help right here.
Chris and Matt also made picks this week incluidng Matt’s pick of Justice League Unlimited and Chris’ pick of the iOS app Feedly.
