At this weekend’s New York Comic Con, I was lucky enough to spend some time with the much-anticipated sequel to Goldeneye 007 for the Nintendo 64. Goldeneye 007 for Wii very much lives up to
Firstly, the new Classic Controller Plus is pretty great to use. While it doesn’t quite replicate the feel of a N64 controller, it feels much easier to manuver than the original Classic Controller, which really helps for Goldeneye 007. Obviously, you won’t want to be fumbling with a controller while you’re trying to come out on top in online multiplayer.
But the control scheme for the game is incredibly intuitive, so if you’re a native of shooting games you’ll pick it up very fast.
While I wasn’t able to play Goldeneye 007 on my own, I did participate in a four-player split-screen deathmatch round. The level was in an underground bunker of some kind, which made for a lot of running around and stumbling on other players as we fought to the death. The match was incredibly fast paced, and the person who won only did by a small margin, so while we were all newcomers to the game, the learning curve was minimal.
My short experience with Goldeneye 007 for Wii did nothing but confirm my excitement for the game. My only criticism is in its graphics. Perhaps this is a fault of the console it has been put on, but this game doesn’t look much better than Goldeneye 64. Perhaps one day we’ll see a Goldeneye for Playstation or Xbox, or even a Nintendo system with high-definition graphics. For now, Goldeneye 007 for Wii certainly gets the job done.
Goldeneye 007 will be released exclusively for the Nintendo Wii just in time for the holidays on November 2nd.

October 14, 2010 at 3:52 pmConsidering the characters have actual hands as oppsed to the blocky claws on the N64 edition, plus modern lighting FX, way more happening on screen, etc…I’d venture this is a tad better looking than the old Rare cartridge based title.
yeahyeah
October 14, 2010 at 3:27 pmDoesn’t look much better than Goldeneye 64?!? Really, because from what I’ve seen through screen shots and videos, the game looks amazingly good. Unless, you’re just a HD graphic whore then I’ll understand your statement. I mean, nowadays, 3rd party developers for the Wii absolutely CANNOT make better looking games than the PS/N64 era(sarcasm). Right?
