‘Transformers’ Planning To Return in 2014 With a Reboot

Living with the immediate “ADD” audience that exists today, it’s hard for major studios to believe that kids today can follow the plot of any single movie, let alone a multi-film franchise like what Michael Bay has done with Transformers. It seems like that argument has gotten to Bay and his producing partner Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, as they are currently planning on rebooting the Transformers series to a brand new audience in 2014. From THR:

Bonaventura said that he and Bay were still in early stages of development process, but they wanted to reinvent the saga to pave the way for a new mythology. Bay showed a willingness to shake up the ensemble in Dark of the Moon, when he replaced Megan Fox with Rosie Huntington-Whitely as Sam’s love interest.

Monday Picks: ‘The Goonies’

This week’s pick is the adventure-comedy classic The Goonies (1985). Richard Donner (Superman I, II, Lethal Weapon series) and Steven Spielberg craft this cult classic, which has entertained countless fans for over twenty-five years.

The Goonies centers around a group of seven outcast teens from Astoria, Oregon whose homes are about to be demolished due to a real estate venture to expand the ritzy Astoria country club into their neighborhood. Facing their last weekend together, Mike Walsh (Sean Astin) and the rest of his friends rummage around his father’s attic and uncover a map, and a Spanish doubloon.

Mikey begins to tell the story of a Seventeenth Century Pirate known as One-Eyed Willie who stole a large assortment of treasure from the English back in 1632, and it was rumored to have been buried somewhere along their coastline. At first, Mikey’s friends seem reluctant to go on one last Goonie adventure but change their minds when they realize that if they were to find One-Eyed Willie’s treasure, they and their families wouldn’t have to leave Astoria.

Dream Cast: ‘Uncharted’

Uncharted is one of the most beloved and critically praised game franchises of all time. Both epic and intimate, the trilogy brought back the concept thought killed by shooters of games as storytelling.

The game has been so successful, it was only a matter of time before Hollywood took notice and decided to translate its already cinematic action to the big screen. Actors rumored to have been involved include Mark Wahlberg, Robert De Niro, and Bruce Campbell.

But who would be perfect? Let’s get ur dream cast together and find out.

First ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ Trailer Arrives

This may come as news to some of you. In addition to being President during one of the most tumultuous times in US history, Abraham Lincoln was secretly also a vampire hunter.

Well, at least that’s how history goes in the upcoming film Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Produced by Tim Burton and directed by Timur Bekmambetov, the film is an adaptation of the Seth Grahame-Smith book about Lincoln and his quest to destroy the undead after his mother is killed by bloodsucking vampires.

We’ve got the first trailer for the film to share with you today. To be honest, we weren’t expecting much from this but it’s nice to be pleasantly surprised once in awhile. The pic, at least from this trailer, actually looks pretty good. You will, of course, have to judge for yourselves.

Mike Vogel To Lead Cast of Rob McElhenney and Rob Rosell’s ‘Living Loaded’

Mike Vogel of Cloverfield fame has been cast as the lead in Living Loaded. Living Loaded a single-camera comedy pilot from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia creator/star Rob McElhenney and the show’s executive producer Rob Rosell that is currently being produced for fox.

The show will be based on the book of the same name by Dan Dunn. The story centers on Dan, played by Vogel, the loose partying blogger of the popular Living Loaded blog who is forced to change his career plans when he becomes an NPR radio host.

For Vogel, the casting will likely sit in second position to the freshman ABC drama, Pan Am, on which he currently stars. Luckily for Living Loaded, Pan Am is unlikely to return.

Box Office Report: ‘The Vow’ Pulls Your Heartstrings And Steals Top Spot

With Valentine’s Day hitting on Tuesday, it only makes sense that the box office would reflect that feeling of love we’re smelling in the air. It looks like guys and gals together made sure Valentine’s Day won the weekend, as Screen Gems’ The Vow starring Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams managed to take the weekend with an estimated $41 Million.

In a very close second, the Denzel Washington vs. Ryan Reynolds flick Safe House brought in an estimated $39 Million, which wouldn’t be bad if the film’s budget wasn’t a total of $85 Million. Right behind that one was another financial conundrum, Dwayne Johnson’s Journey 2, which cost about $80 Million and only only netted $27 Million here in the states.

Film Score Friday: Special Edition – John Williams Birthday Celebration

This past week John Williams had his 80th birthday. One of the first thing he will do during his 80th year will be attending the Oscars later this month where the Maestro is nominated for 2 best score awards. Even at this age Williams is at the top of his game.

In honor of the most prolific film composer alive today I wanted to use my weekly film score soap box to celebrate the man who has provided the soundtrack to the imaginations of several generations.

Everyone knows about his contributions to Star Wars, Superman, Indiana Jones and Harry Potter, but how many people are aware that he wrote not one, but two classic themes for Lost in Space?

It was John Williams music that made me fall in love with film music. I can pinpoint it all the way back to a single moment in Jurassic Park when the helicopter approached Isla Nublar, the cue still gives me chills to this day, and nearly two decades later I still look to Mr. Williams as the inspiration for a life long passion.

Activision Sheds Some Light On When ‘Diablo 3’ Will Be Released

Diablo is one of those franchises that exists in every gamers dreams. It was one of the classic Blizzard titles that has been long lost in the success of World of Warcraft and Starcraft, but there has always been hope that we would see a return to the action RPG franchise.

So a few years ago it was announced that Diablo 3 was officially on the way, and the world of video games seemed like a happier place. However, A funny thing happened on the way to Gamestop and the release missed an originally planed 2011 release window. Reports of an early 2012 release were heard, but alas we have at least a few more months to wait.

Activision announced in a recent financial report that Diablo 3 is currently expected for the middle of the year, killing any hope that we would see the game sooner rather than later.

That was not the only disappointing news for Blizzard fans in the report. The long awaited second part of Starcraft 2 and the next World of Warcraft expansion are on shaky ground for a 2012 release. Blizzard is only expected to ship one other title this year in addition to Diablo 3, meaning one or both of those two announced projects is going to be pushed to 2013.
