Uncharted is one of the most beloved and critically praised game franchises of all time. Both epic and intimate, the trilogy brought back the concept thought killed by shooters of games as storytelling.
The game has been so successful, it was only a matter of time before Hollywood took notice and decided to translate its already cinematic action to the big screen. Actors rumored to have been involved include Mark Wahlberg, Robert De Niro, and Bruce Campbell.
But who would be perfect? Let’s get ur dream cast together and find out.
NATHAN FILLION as NATHAN DRAKE
He’s the fan favorite for a reason. Whenever people try to describe how Uncharted‘s hero is tough but vulnerable, cool but flawed, an action hero you can relate to, they often use terms like “Fillion-esque.” On Castle and Firefly, Fillion has displayed the kind of roguish charm, self-deprecating humor, and heroic indefatigability that have made Drake the most popular video game hero of the past decade.
GILLIAN JACOBS as ELENA FISHER
Elena, Drake’s favorite foil and moral anchor, is a journalist who risks life and limb to uncover corruption and injustice. She is basically a less lazy and self-centered version of Britta from TV’s Community. And since Gillian Jacobs has shown a range of skill from romance to gunslinging in the genre-bending sitcom, it would be fun to watch the beautiful and funny actress play it straight.
DENNIS FARINA as VICTOR “SULLY” SULLIVAN
The avuncular Sully is Drake’s best friend and most trustworthy ally. He’s been getting in and out of scrapes since Drake was in diapers, so any actor playing him will have to be both weathered and slick, with the ‘stache to match. Dennis Farina is a 30-year veteran of crime stories like Snatch and Crime Story, often as the same kind of lovable scoundrel as Sully.
CLAUDIA BLACK as CHLOE FRAZER
“Among Thieves”, the second Uncharted installment (and incidentally, the one I’m casting here) would be the best story to start with on film, largely because of the introduction of larger-than life characters like the alluring and morally ambiguous Chloe. So who could pull off the role? How about the actress who originated it? Claudia Black has already shown she can pull off Chloe’s combination of tough and sexy in the flesh on four seasons of Farscape.
GAVIN ROSSDALE as HARRY FLYNN
The singer/songwriter has dipped his toe into acting a few times over the last few years, most notably in the film adaptation of Constantine, in which he stole every scene from Keanu Reeves. Rock star Rossdale is credible as a smooth operator, the kind of rival you love to hate, perfect for the double-crossing Flynn.
KEVIN DURAND as ZORAN LAZAREVIC
The most intimidating Uncharted villain to date, Lazarevic kills without remorse and razes entire towns in his greedy search for unchecked power. The imposing Durand has played a heavy in LOST, Smokin’ Aces, and 3:10 to Yuma and always brings a little something extra. It’s not just his size and strength that make Durand so formidable; there’s something powerful in his eyes that could really sell him as deadly juggernaut Lazarevic.
