TV RECAP: ‘The Following’ Episode 113 – ‘Havenport’

jpeg

As I so stupidly left out of my last recap, Sheriff Nelson (Roderick) of Havenport is offering his assistance on the FBI’s case. He is helping try and track down Joe and his cult. The only problem? Agent Weston is there too. They eventually run into each other, but Roderick manages to escape.

When Roderick returns to the house, he and Joe argue and fight. Roderick blames Joe killing Monroe for the FBI being so close. Roderick thinks they need to leave, but Joe says it’s not time yet. Roderick tells Joe that he will never get his wife back, and Joe attacks Roderick. Joe tells Roderick to pull himself together, and Roderick feels like he is being used.

Hardy holds a news conference offering immunity to any member of Joe’s cult that turns them self in and leads them to Joe. It turns out that Donovan did not authorize this press conference or the immunity, but ultimately relents, as it was a good idea.

Bethesda Says New Viral Teaser Isn’t ‘Fallout 4’

Bethesda Rumor

When people think of Bethesda right now, two things come to mind. Fallout and the Elder Scrolls. So when a video surfaced today on Vine from Bethesda Softworks featuring a spinning LP and barbed wire, it isn’t an unfair assumption to think it may be related to Fallout. After speculation quickly popped online about The Moonlight Trio and George Shackley LP as well as the flashes of Johann Sebastian Bach (who was featured on the Fallout 3 soundtrack) and Air on the G String from the gaming press, Bethesda VP of marketing and PR Pete Hines replied on his Twitter account that this wasn’t the case.

Obviously this isn’t a new Oblivion since the online title is already announced an on its way. But what could it be? The first option is Project Zwei, which is a survival horror game being published by Bethesda under the development of Resident Evil designer Shinji Mikami.

Comic Book Donations for Boston Children’s Hospital

bchlogomotto_primary_300dpi

Let’s face it, none of the stuff we put up here could be considered of life or death importance. We’re all about entertainment and fun and it should be that way most of the time.

However, when something comes along of real-world importance, actually deals with life and death and could potentially help or make a difference in someone else’s life, we feel duty-bound to bring it to you. Today that something takes the form of comic book donations to the Children’s Hospital of Boston.

Writer Adri Cowan is taking matters into her own hands and doing something to help the children affected by the recent tragedy in Boston. Said Cowan:

“. . . I want to help. In the very least, I’d like to distract the traumatized, the children, the people whose lives are going to be changed forever, regardless of limbs lost or physical impairments. So I asked my friends at local comic shops and publishers to help me bring kids-friendly comic books and books to Boston Children’s Hospital, and anywhere else that needs them.”

She will be taking the donated comics to the hospital on Wednesday, April 24th. Until that time, donations can be made by emailing Adri at: adri (dot) cowan (at) gmail (dot) com or getting in touch with here via Twitter @adrileya.

We think this is a very worthwhile cause and we wish her the best of luck.

Brand New ‘Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Trailer Arrives

ID_D16_06832_R2.JPG

The Hunger Games. What can you say about it? Well, it was a decent book that spawned a decent movie.

It also features the very cute Jennifer Lawrence, which doesn’t hurt. Of course, there’s a sequel, and it’s called Cathing Fire.

Of course again, a new trailer for the movie dropped during last night’s MTV Movie Awards. Don’t get us started on how useless the awards are, just enjoy the new trailer.

Or, don’t. No pressure. We won’t judge you either way. Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, and Josh Hutcherson are back for the Francis Lawrence (no relation)-directed November 22 sequel.

Check out the teaser after the break.

Monday Freeview: ‘Candy Crush Saga’ for Facebook, iOS and Android

Monday Freeview Candy Crush Saga

So I did it. I finally gave in. After months of avoiding Facebook invites from friends, family and total strangers, it was only after the recommendation of our own Matt Raub when he talked about how addictive it was that I decided to give Candy Crush Saga a chance. And now I see what the hype is about.

On the surface, one could attempt to say that Candy Crush Saga is a ripoff of the classic “Match 3” formula that made titles like Bejeweled so successful. But it takes bits and pieces from various other “Match 3” games into an incredibly simple but addictive formula. Early levels involve hitting a certain amount of points within a specific number of moves.

Quickly the gears get clogged up when levels change shape and it isn’t just the perfect square that they are used to. And then comes the jelly which players must not only hit a minimum score on but also make matches over specific squares to clear them. And once you think you’ve mastered that, then you have “ingredients” which are pieces that you must work down to the bottom of the screen by eliminating the blocks below them.
