New ‘Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy’ Trailer with Gary Oldman Arrives

Recently, we had the first trailer for the upcoming adaptation of the John Le Carre espionage novel Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and lo, it was good. Now, there’s a new trailer that’s just arrived online and it’s even better.

With a cast that includes Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong, John Hurt, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Ciaran Hinds it’s easy to see why this film is starting to gain so much attention. Plus, it’s based on a very well known and successful novel, so that’s going to factor in as well.

In case you’re not familiar with the story, here’s some of it to get you even more interested.

The man he knew as “Control” is dead, and the young Turks who forced him out now run the Circus. But George Smiley isn’t quite ready for retirement-especially when a pretty, would-be defector surfaces with a shocking accusation: a Soviet mole has penetrated the highest level of British Intelligence. Relying only on his wits and a small, loyal cadre, Smiley traces the breach back to Karla-his Moscow Centre nemesis-and sets a trap to catch the traitor.

Sounds good to me. Focus Features releases the film in the US on November 18th. Check out the new trailer after the break.

It’s ‘Final Destination’ Meets ‘Saved By the Bell’ In Miles Fisher’s New Video

Fortunately, people have many places where they can express themselves online these days. One of the most popular is, of course, YouTube. That’s one of the main places budding filmmakers, and pretty much anyone else, can make a video, post it online and potentially get a lot of attention.

One person who’s been gaining attention for his videos is Miles Fisher. As a struggling actor he made several humorous videos and got quite a bit of attention. Now that his acting career has started to take off with roles in Final Destination 5 and J. Edgar, he hadn’t stopped making videos.

In fact, the actor reportedly went to Warner Bros with an idea for a short that could help spread awareness of its upcoming Final Destination film and the studio liked it so much they gave him the money to make it. The result is a short called New Romance which seems to be part horror homage and part Saved by the Bell. Either way, the body count it pretty high — which we can appreciate.

Check it out after the jump.

It’s a New Twist on Alien Invasions in ‘The Darkest Hour’ Trailer

As a fan of the genre, it’s sad to say it but we have had a bit too much of the “Alien Invasion Blockbuster.” Between subpar films like Battle: Los Angeles, Skyline, and the countless District 9 ripoffs that have gotten the greenlight in the past two years, the genre itself has been a bit played out.

That’s why we’re pretty excited to see something new and fresh with the trailer for The Darkest Hour. Directed by production designer Chris Gorak and produced by our old pal Timur Bekmambetov, the movie has an interesting visual take on the played out story.

The Darkest Hour is the story of five young people who find themselves stranded in Moscow, fighting to survive in the wake of a devastating alien attack. The 3D thriller highlights the classic beauty of Moscow alongside mind-blowing special effects.

Starring a fresh young cast (Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby, Max Minghella, Rachael Taylor) and showing more bystander deaths in the trailer than any film we can think of from the past year, we’re pretty excited to see what this film can bring to 3D and 2D theaters.

Check out the trailer after the jump and catch The Darkest Hour in theaters December 23rd.

First Image of Henry Cavill as Superman Hits the Web

Coming on the heels of some rather eyebrow-raising news that Laurence Fishburne has been cast as Perry White, Warner Bros. is making sure you stay excited about their newest Superman film, Man of Steel, with a brand new pic of star Henry Cavill in the super suit.

The film, directed by Sucker Punch visionary Zack Snyder, is said to be a fresh new take on the classic Superman tale, while finally giving us the Superman that we have wanted in theaters for decades. Now that just about the entire cast is in place, here’s the official press release from WB:

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have provided the first look at the new “Man of Steel,” revealing star Henry Cavill as Superman in the film from director Zack Snyder. The film also stars three-time Oscar nominee Amy Adams (“The Fighter”) as Daily Planet journalist Lois Lane, and Oscar nominee Laurence Fishburne (“What’s Love Got to Do with It”) as her editor-in-chief, Perry White. Starring as Clark Kent’s adoptive parents, Martha and Jonathan Kent, are Oscar nominee Diane Lane (“Unfaithful”) and Academy Award winner Kevin Costner (“Dances with Wolves”).

Squaring off against the superhero are two other surviving Kryptonians, the villainous General Zod, played by Oscar nominee Michael Shannon (“Revolutionary Road”), and Faora, Zod’s evil partner, played by Antje Traue. Also from Superman’s native Krypton are Lara Lor-Van, Superman’s mother, played by Julia Ormond, and Superman’s father, Jor-El, portrayed by Academy Award winner Russell Crowe (“Gladiator”).

Check out the full sized image of Cavill ripping apart a bank vault after the jump. Keep an eye out as more Man of Steel info and photos hit the web soon.

Marvel Teams Up With Retailer To Introduce Heroes To The Kitchen

Marvel characters are popular these days, from multi-million dollar theatrical blockbusters to massively successful video games and cartoons. Now the iconic comic book heroes are invading another time honored medium that geeks the everywhere will drool over, cookie molds!

That’s right, Marvel has teamed up with Williams-Sonoma to produce a line of kitchen and bakeware exclusively for their stores.

Designed exclusively for the retailer, the products include renowned Super Heroes from the Marvel Universe including Spider-Man, Hulk, Captain America and Iron Man.  Featuring retro character art and graphics, the Williams-Sonoma collection captures the charm and artistry of the original Marvel Comics. The program launches with an array of bakeware and kitchen essentials including Cookie Cutters, Pancake Molds, Adult and Child Aprons, Spatulas and Iced Cookies.

I, for one, am hoping this is a successful line so more obscure characters can get their time to shine in the kitchen. It is awesome to have Captain America pancake molds or Invisible Woman non-stick pans, but the world will truly be a better place when we have Ravage 2099 child aprons and Deathlok corn holders. Hopefully the people behind this epic cross over are thinking along the same lines.

Seriously, who doesn’t love content packs and zombies? They give you a new way to enjoy your previously played game and usually don’t cost all that much. That’s why we like them around here, anyway.

Fortunately, we’re getting another one for Call of Duty Black Ops. This new one, called Rezurrection, is all-Zombies all the time and set to launch first on the Xbox LIVE online entertainment network on August 23rd. Rezurrection “hurls players into orbit with Moon, the climax of the Call of Duty Zombies saga and the first in the series to drop zombie-slaying into low-G lunar battlegrounds. With new outrageous weapons, high-tech gear, and a bloodthirsty undead menace, Moon is the most challenging and thrilling Zombies adventure yet.”

The Rezurrection content pack includes the all-new Moon level, four re-mastered levels of Zombie lore: Nacht der Untoten, Verruckt, Shi No Numa and Der Riese, the Zombie factory that started it all. It also includes an enhanced Zombies Soundtrack.

But wait, it gets better. If you’ve purchased the Black Ops Hardened or Prestige Editions and already own the four re-mastered maps, the other contents in the Rezurrection pack will be included at no cost, including Moon, the soundtrack and the theme. Sounds like a winner. To get you excited, we’ve got some screens from the pack to share with you today. Click through for all the fun.

Exclusive Costumes Announced For ‘Batman: Arkham City’

One of the awesome things about playing a comic book-based video game is the inherent unlockables and easter eggs that are hidden inside of the game for the fans of the source material. More typical is that there are unlockable costumes that you can play as that represent alternate characters or timelines of your favorite hero.

It’s a trick that’s been used for years. Games like Spider-Man, where you can play as Green Goblin, or any of the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games, where you can don as a slew of unlockable costumes for your favorite characters. It’s a simple yet awesome piece of added value to many of the consumers rushing out to buy the game.

While Batman: Arkham City missed the boat on this, they’re definitely making up for it with their newest release, Arkham City. In this game, we’re told that you can unlock a whole cornacopia of alternate Bat-suits for the Dark Knight.

Those costumes range from Dark Knight Returns Batman, to Batman Beyond, 70’s Batman, Batman: The Animated Series Batman, Earth One Batman, and your standard Batman suit.

Here’s the catch: each of these costumes are only unlockable if you pre-order the game from a specific store. Kind of big catch, for those who want every costume, but don’t feel like buying the game 5 times.

Check out the full list of how to get each costume after the jump, along with the full-res image of each suit. Batman: Arkham City hits shelves October 18th.
