Check Out The RZA In A Brand New ‘DJ Hero’ Trailer & Screenshots

With October 19th fast approaching, DJ Hero 2 keeps ramping up the ante with more and more superstar DJs being added to the mix. Yes, pun intended.  Deadmau5, David Guetta, DJ Qbert, and Tiësto have already been confirmed. Now added to the list is the Wu-Tang Clan’s resident MC and producer RZA. Check out the video below showing the real RZA alongside his digitalized version where he talks about what got him into the world of DJing in the first place.

For DJ Hero 2, the RZA has contributed two exclusive tracks. The first is LL Cool J’s “I Can’t Live Without My Radio” mixed With Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five’s “The Message”. The second is “Welcome To Jamrock” by Damian Marley paired with “A Fifth of Beethoven” by Walter Murphy.

When asked about his involvment in DJ Hero 2, RZA said, “I’m very excited to be involved with DJ Hero 2. As both a DJ and gamer from an early age, the game combines two of my passions…. I loved working with the team and am excited for the fans to hear the two brand-new mixes I put together just for this game. Bong bong!”

Review: ‘Going the Distance’

Real life on again/off again couple Drew Barrymore and Justin Long team up in this sweet romantic comedy that realistically depicts the good, the bad, and the ugly about long distance relationships. Erin (Barrymore) and Garrett (Long) meet in a bar in New York one evening.

The two quickly bond over their mutual love of the retro arcade game Centipede, and spend the rest of the evening together. Erin is up front, and lets Garrett know that she won’t be staying in New York much longer.

Her summer internship is going to be over in six weeks, and she will be returning to Stanford to complete school.  They both agree to keep things casual for the next few weeks.

Why is it that when we make these types of vows, we always end up falling the hardest? Naturally the two fall hopelessly in love, and are completely inseparable for those few weeks before she leaves. They share a tearful, protracted good-bye at the airport, and decide to keep the relationship going, despite the distance.

Thus begins our voyeuristic look into the trials and tribulations of their  long distance relationship.  Texting, late night phone calls, more texting, loneliness and uncertainty, and infrequent weekend visits.  Erin and Garrett each face temptations with comely co-workers (Kelly Garner and Oliver Jackson Cohen).

Happy Labor Day

Seeing as this is a holiday weekend that honors people who labor, we won’t be having a regular schedule here at The Flickcast. Instead, we will be taking some much needed time off and will return to our normal schedule next Tuesday.

Of course, if something major happens over the weekend, we will bring it to you. Otherwise, expect our usual brand of humor, articles, interviews, reviews and more to return refreshed and ready to roll next week.

Review: ‘Machete’

Grindhouse is a term used to describe a movie theater that specialized in showing Exploitation movies, primarily in the 1970s.  That type of movie was often made on the cheap, and contained salicious subject matter like nudity, drugs, or taboo behavior.

In 2007, Director Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino brought us the Grindhouse double-feature, which consisted of Planet Terror and Death Proof.  The film itself was scratched up to replicate what a real grindhouse might have looked like.  The movie(s) were heavy on the gore, nudity, and camp, just like the old days.

The movie featured fake trailers for upcoming films, one of which was for a movie called Machete, featuring grizzled character actor Danny Trejo.  Rodriquez decided to flesh out the ideas behind the trailer and dusted off a script he wrote in 1993 to give the film the full feature treatment.

Machete (pronounced throughout the film as Ma-chet-ay) is the moniker given to an ex federale  from Mexico who witnessed horrible atrocities committed on his family and has become a vigilante of sorts, vowing to bring down the people responsible for killing his family.  No surprise that his weapon of choice is a newly sharpened machete, though he will use just about any implement in a pinch.

‘Batman: The Brave and The Bold’ Launch Trailer

Coming in just a few days on September 7th, Batman: The Brave and The Bold brings its unique, lighthearted and child friendly take on the dark knight to the Nintendo Wii and DS. So we all know what that means. It’s time for a launch trailer.

But Batman: The Brave and The Bold doesn’t give just any launch trailer filled with the stereotypical gameplay footage along with cutscenes from the game. Instead, we are treated to a miniaturized episode of the show which goes along well with the setup of the game itself.

Just like the game is meant to be played in short easily digestible episodes, so is this trailer which features an easily understandable tale of Bat-Mite and how he fits into the game’s universe. The fifth dimensional uber-nerd Bat-Mite is at home playing his game and can’t seem to handle it on his own before calling in the help of not one but two special friends, just like the game.

Exclusive: Ron Perlman talks ‘Sons of Anarchy’, ‘Conan’, & The Return of ‘Hellboy’

If one could call Chuck Norris a “Man’s Man,” then you should very easily be able to call Ron Perlman a “Geek’s Man.” His work on countless comic and fantasy projects like Hellboy, Alien: Resurrection, Blade, Conan and more has endeared him to fans everywhere, making him our go-to tough guy in the world of geek.

Now, Perlman has found a home on Kurt Sutter’s FX series Sons of Anarchy as, yes, a badass biker. All week long, we’ve brought you new interviews with other notables from the show, and now it’s time for the “Geek’s Man” to take center stage as we have a chat with Ron Perlman himself.

In the interview, Perlman discussed Sons of Anarchy, some of the new projects he has coming up, how much of a relief it is to work on a show that doesn’t require hours of makeup, and how quickly he’d return to the Hellboy franchise.

More ‘Spartacus: Blood and Sand’ Blu-ray Trailers

Okay, who’s a fan of epic series chronicling the exploits of a slave who rises to godlike stature due mostly to his skill at slicing and dicing opponents in an arena? Or, how about a show featuring amazing action, terrific performances and enough naked flesh to satisfy even the most prurient among you? If you don’t know what show I’m talking about then by all means you need to  read on.

The show is, of course, Starz epic series Spartacus: Blood and Sand which debuted to much fanfare and has risen to cult status almost over night. The show is truly unique and serves as a reminder of what talented an determined creative people can do if given the freedom to do it.

The first season of the show is coming to Blu-ray (The only way to watch it, btw) and we’ve got two more trailers to share with you today. Both give you a great idea of how amazing this show really is. Hopefully, we’ll get more new episodes soon. Until then, the first season Blu-ray will have to suffice.
