New Trailer and Poster for ‘Inception’ Released

Inception, acclaimed director Christopher Nolan’s next project since the box office smash The Dark Knight, has had buzz surrounding it since it was greenlit at Warners. And while numerous trailers and a poster have been revealed, the details are still vague about this upcoming psychological thriller…until now.

The first full trailer has just hit the web, which finally gives us some more insight on Dicaprio and Ellen Page’s characters. We now know that the story surrounds the world of corporate espionage, with a sci-fi twist. Also revealed online was a brand new poster for the film, giving us a deeper look into the dark and twisted tone of Nolan’s world.

While the first poster just featured Leonardo Dicaprio, alone surrounded by a sea of water and buildings and vaguely reminding us of the The Dark Knight posters, this new IMAX poster features more of the cast. While Leo’s still at his prominent point front and center, other characters walk along the walls and upside down. This film has a really strong ensemble cast so it’s great to see the other actors and actresses of this film on this poster, like Cillian Murphy and Marion Cotillard, as the trailers have all featured Leonardo Dicaprio and Ellen Page.

Written and directed by Christopher Nolan and starring the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, and Tom Berenger. Box Office: ‘Iron Man 2’ Doesn’t Disappoint

Everyone knew that Iron Man 2 would handily win the box office this weekend, but estimates for the final take were all over the place.  Now the dust is settling, and Iron Man 2 looks to have made around $133 Million, which places it as the fifth best opening ever. Brisk early ticket sales were causing some to predict that Iron Man 2 might challenge the all time record for an opening held by The Dark Knight ($158 Million), but it fell quite a bit short of that.

According to Entertainment Weekly,  Iron Man 2 received an “A” Cinemascore from exiting audience members, and that will translate into great word of mouth and box office stamina.   The film didn’t face any competition from new releases, save for some smaller indie releases.  Iron Man 2 is also a bona fide international success, after two weeks in release, its international box office haul is around $194 Million.

Nightmare on Elm Street fell with a resounding thud, losing 72% of its opening weekend numbers.  Seems everyone who intended to see it saw it the first week, which is fairly typical of horror movies.  Nightmare made about $9 Million and has made $48 Million in its first two weeks.  How to Train Your Dragon was in the number three spot, and just slid past $200 Million in total ticket sales in its seventh week in release.

‘Starcraft II: Wings Of Liberty’ To Launch On July 27

Looks like Blizzard fanboys won’t be working on their tans this summer, that is unless LCD screens start emitting UV rays. The long awaited and much anticipated Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty is officially set to launch this summer. That’s right, you’ll finally be able to get your hands on this real-time strategy game on July 27th.

Starcraft II will consist of a 29-mission single-player campaign, focusing on the Terran faction. The multiplayer allows gamers to engage in real-time strategy warfare as two additional factions, the hive-like Zerg and technologically advanced Protoss. Blizzard has two sequels in the works that focus on these factions, entitled Legacy of the Void and Heart of the Swarm.

As we previously reported, Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty will be available in a special edition set for $100, which will include an art book with illustrations and concept art, a 2GB USB flash drive loaded with the original StarCraft and the StarCraft: Brood War expansion, a behind-the-scenes DVD, and a 14-track soundtrack CD. You can also pick up the game alone for $60.

Those eager to get a chance to play earlier can pre-order Starcraft II from GameStop, which will allow them access to the beta. This is a big year for Blizzard, as they’re also releasing a new World of Warcraft expansion later this year.

Warner Bros. Dropping Blu-ray Prices On Over 85 Titles

I think it’s pretty much a given that DVD looks much better than something like VHS. Of course, now there’s something even better than DVD: Blu-ray. If you’re as big a fan of this awesome High-Def format as we are here at The Flickcast and you love saving money, then this post is for you.

Starting  today, at the all-new DVD2Blu site, over 85 Warner Bros. films including Gran Torino, 2001 Space Odyssey, Superman II, Ocean’s Eleven, V for Vendetta, The Shining, Pans Labyrinth and dozens more are available on Blu-ray for as low as $4.95. Yes, you read that right.

What’s the catch? Well, in order to get this rock bottom price you need to exchange your old standard def DVD’s for band new, shiny Blu-ray versions. You simply select the title you to upgrade, and mail in your standard DVD with pre-paid postage.

Then, a short time late you’ll get a copy of the same film on Blu-ray. They even offer free shipping on orders over $35.00. Cool, right?

Of course, you still have to have the standard def DVD’s to trade in for the lowest price but if you do already have them , why not get a Blu-ray copy instead? Seems like a pretty good deal, especially if you were going to buy the Blu-ray version anyway.

Check Out Previews For Tonight’s ‘Merlin’ and ‘Stargate Universe’

As we do most Fridays, we’ve got previews for two of Syfy’s shows for you again this week. Both Merlin and Stargate Universe offer action, suspense, romance and drama each week and if you haven’t checked them out yet, you may want to give them a chance.

Starting off with Stargate Universe, the crew is really in trouble this week when their ship, the aptly named Destiny, starts to lose power. If her power fails completely, they could be adrift in space. . . forever. That’s not something you want to happen because, as you know, it’s cold in space and no one can hear you scream. Sorry, that’s from another show. Anyway. . .

Next up on Merlin, the boy wizard must reveal Catrina’s true and evil form before she destroys the kingdom. Jeez, it’s always something with these boy wizards, isn’t it? All the action begins at 9/8C with Stargate Universe followed at 10/9C by Merlin, only on Syfy. Check out both previews after the jump.

‘Breaking Dawn’ Picks Up A Release Date

We’re less than 2 months away from the third film in the Twilight Saga, titled Eclipse, to hit theaters, but that won’t slow down Summit Entertainment, as they’ve already locked the final film, Breaking Dawn, in with a release date of November 18, 2011.

Between this release date and news of Academy Award winning director Bill Condon (Gods and Monsters) joining the project, we’re getting a good amount of answers for a film that was once called by producers “unfilmable.” Questions we still need answered? Will this book be adapted into two films, much like the adaptation of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows? Also, can we expect the same 3D treatment that just about every other film next year will be getting?

This new release date puts Dawn up against some pretty heavy hitters, including Real Steel starring Hugh Jackman, from comedy director Shawn Levy, as well as Relativity Media’s Immortals in 3D, Happy Feet 2 in 3D, and the Shrek spinoff, Puss in Boots.

It’s no doubt that Dawn will take the weekend, if not the month of November in the box office, but the questions now lie with the production. Can Summit and Condon film the “unfilmable”? We should find out later this year, as Breaking Dawn starts shooting this fall.

iPhone Not Coming to Verizon Until 2011?

If you’re waiting and hoping for a Verizon iPhone this year, you might be disappointed yet again. According to a recent analyst report highlighted over at Computerworld, the iPhone is going to remain an AT&T exclusive at least until the end of 2010. Why? Well, read on.

AT&T is offering data plans for the iPad on a non-contract basis at the reasonable price of $15 for 250MB of data and $30 for unlimited data. According to analyst Brian Marshall of BroadPoint AmTech, AT&T would not have agreed to those low prices, and no-contract plans, without receiving something big from Apple in return. That “something big”, he thinks, is an extension of the iPhone exclusivity agreement with AT&T.

“AT&T had to do something dramatic to get the iPad,” said Marshall. “For that pricing [on the iPad], AT&T was able to negotiate a six-month extension on the iPhone exclusive,” he continued.

So there you have it iPhone fans. If you’re as sick of AT&T as I was but still must have your iPhone, you’re just going to have to hang in there a a bit longer. Of course, this is just one person’s opinion, albeit an informed one. Still, he could be wrong and we may never see a Verizon iPhone.

After all, Apple usually does what’s in Apple’s best interest so going to the trouble of making a CDMA iPhone for just the U.S. market, where they already dominate the space, may be more than they are willing to do. If you believe Marshall, I guess we’ll find out at the end of the year. Until then, try not to be too hard on AT&T.

TV RECAP: ‘The Office: The Cover-Up’

Wow—solid cold opening, made doubly more effective by the thought that it was long overdue.

The episode jumps right into Michael’s love life. He’s looking for something new to do on the weekend instead of sex with Donna (and apparently he’s getting a lot during the work week—making out in front of security guard Hank is a highlight). This leads to the rest of the office questioning the nature of Michael’s relationship (Kelly and Ryan seem especially astute at detecting the trails of two-timers), so Michael commissions Dwight to tail Donna.

Meanwhile Andy blows open The Case of the Smoking Printer, which is exactly what it sounds like. He brings it to the attention of weasely “Do you guys have any almond butter” Gabe, who lackadaisically gets right on it. However, Darryl (and thank you, again, Office writers, for bringing Craig Robinson to the forefront [wouldn’t he be a fantastic Mr. T?) has it in for Andy and devises a semi-clever plan to spin him in a tizzy.

Pam tries to reassure Michael that things are okay with Donna and usefully brings up Michael’s self-destructive approach to relationships to allay his worries. She and Jim tell him to call off Dwight’s investigation (which takes place at a gym and looks like the outtakes of a horrific porno).
