Back during our E3 Coverage we revealed the first trailer of The Lord of the Rings: War in the North. Now, in graphic and bloody detail, Snowblind Studios has revealed the full cinematic trailer detailing the story behind the clips in the initial release. Sent into battle, the threesome of the dwarf warrior, human sorcerer and elf archer take the fight to Sauron’s forces with a head-on assault on one of his base camps.
One thing that stands out about the new trailer compared to the previous Lord of the Rings games which were tied into the Peter Jackson films is how much darker a tone these have and how brutal the imagery is. Limbs are literally being sliced off. Orcs are being shot in the face with arrows. Blood is flowing.
These feel more in tune with some of the epic battles from the movies than what were delivered to the PlayStation 2 titles all those years ago. Snowblind isn’t worried about producing a family friendly title it looks like and for that, they should be applauded.
Take a peek for yourself at the new trailer and let us know what you think about the new title after the jump.

One of the best parts of E3 is getting a first look at titles not yet on gamers’ radars. One of the games that is popped up during the show was Snowblind Studios’ The Lord of the Rings: War in the North. In it, players will be given the opportunity to further explore on the PlayStation 3 and XBox 360 the world of Middle Earth that J.R.R. Tolkien first created over sixty years ago .
The Lord of the Rings: War in the North evolves the Action/RPG genre through innovative online, interdependent co-op play for up to three players, who form their own Fellowship and engage in brutal combat. Gamers must play together or perish as they explore previously unexplored lands, story elements and characters as well as elements familiar from past feature films. Players engage in extensive character customization and development, expansive co-op gameplay options and upgradeable weapons, skills and special abilities.
With the film rights being sold to Warner Bros. and the game being distributed from Warner Bros. Interactive, expect some visual tie ins between the two. Playing as either human, dwarf or elf, the action of the game looks to take a darker and more graphic visual style than the violence portrayed in previous The Lord of the Rings titles.
Check out the trailer for The Lord of the Rings: War in the North after the jump.

So E3 starts tomorrow officially while today is the Microsoft Press conference. As you have already seen, we have gotten some advanced notice on some of the happenings going on at the event. A few changes will be happening with our coverage of the event compared to last year.
This year we won’t be giving a fully detailed recap of the BIG 3 Press Conferences from Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo as a formal post. We will, however, be posting our thoughts and coverage on the big announcements and trailers as well as give a full indepth discussion with Matt Raub, Chris Ulrich and myself on this week’s episode of the podcast.
We have also gotten official word from various industry sources on what companies will be showing at the event. These have come from various press releases, other industry insiders and various leaks from the LA Convention Center itself regarding the event.
There has also been tremendous speculation around the event. Some of those rumors will be examined below as well. Finally, some of my own personal E3 2010 theories and predictions will be put out there too.

For those that have played it, they know that Batman: Arkham Asylum is one of the best comic book video games ever made. It is without a doubt the best Batman title and to some arguably the best comic book game ever. With so many players trying to take in all the content they could as fast as they could, Warner Bros.
Interactive Entertainment and Eidos wanted to throw one more bone to their faithful players with the “Insane Night” map pack, a free two pack of challenge maps coming today to XBox Marketplace, the Playstation Netowrk and soon to the Games for Windows Live Marketplace.
The first map, “Totally Insane”, is a FreeFlow Combat map set in Arkham’s secure records facility where players must defend themselves from wave after wave of insane escaping inmates. Of course instead of being content with escaping the asylum, the inmates each decide to take a stab at being the one who took down the Batman instead of running for the hills.
After seeing some of the brutal combat that happens in Arkham Asylum, it only makes sense that these waves of attacks would have to be insane to want to take on the Dark Knight in hand to hand combat.
