SDCC12: ‘Firefly’ Getting Reunion TV Special, Filming at Comic-Con

Hey, nobody would be happier than we would if Firefly came back to TV. Or, if they did another movie sequel or prequel to Serenity. Sadly, even though Josss Whedon is a huge success with Avengers, we don’t think either of those is a real possibility.

However, that isn’t stopping Science Channel, which runs the original Firefly series pretty much every day, from doing a new TV special about the show. That’s right, to celebrate the cult-classic’s 10th anniversary, the channel is shooting said one-hour special, called Browncoats Unite, at the the Firefly cast reunion at Comic-Con this week.

“Firefly is a landmark work of science fiction and a favorite with our viewers,” said Debbie Myers, general manager and executive vp of Science. “Ever since it premiered on Science, fans have asked us to do something special to mark its 10-year anniversary. With this signature celebration, punctuated by Browncoats Unite, we will connect the minds behind this classic franchise with its legions of passionate fans.”

Joss Whedon and Nathan Fillion are expected to appear on Friday’s panel. In addition, Alan Tudyk, Summer Glau, Adam Baldwin, Sean Maher and writer Tim Minear are also expected. Browncoats Unite will air on Science, along with an all-day marathon of Firefly episodes, on Sunday, Nov. 11.
