Game Review: ‘Dance Central 3’ for XBox 360

If you have a Kinect, chances are that it isn’t the most used accessory of your XBox 360. Though tons have been sold, there hasn’t been great support of good games for it. In fact, many have been downright disappointing like Star Wars Kinect. The shining light for Kinect has been the Dance Central series.

With the first two titles, Dance Central has proven to be one of the best applications of the Kinect technology in terms of accurate recording of the player’s movements and giving a fun experience that actually utilizes the Kinect technology in a fun way. Now, for the third year in a row, the team at Harmonix brings back its dance craze inspired game with incredible results in the form of Dance Central 3.

The Long

If you’ve never played a Dance Central title before, the premise of the game is very simple. Players stand in front of the Kinect controller and mirror the movements they see of the characters on screen. The angle of their arms, legs and body are all monitored by the Kinect as a player follows the motions on screen. The accuracy of the player’s movements determines how well they score on each dance move. Higher scores mean more stars, which have been trend in Harmonix’s music games for some time now.

X-Force’s Domino is Coming to the ‘Deadpool’ Video Game

As of this moment, the PR on Deadpool may be the most fun of any comic book game for any journalist to cover. Instead of the same standard PR blips from developers or agencies, Deadpool (or someone who is doing a heck of a job impersonating him) is doing his own promotions for the game. With the Deadpool movie in development hell, it only makes sense that the poor guy would have the free time to handle gaming PR.

Most recently, Deadpool announced that he would be including Domino of X-Force fame in his upcoming Mature rated game. The two characters are quite familiar with each other, both being long time associates to both Wolverine and Cable, as well as both being members of recent incarnations of X-Force together at one time. And with Deadpool being (a self described) ladies man, it only makes sense that he would invite one of the finest pieces of Marvel comic booty into his game.

Gameplay Trailer for ‘Transformers Universe’ Lets Players See Inside This Browser MMO

There is no shortage of MMO options for the nerds of the world out there. There is fantasy RPG, Star Wars, futuristic shooters and everything else you can imagine. But what might be lacking is robotic car combat. Enter Transformers Universe.

We caught a glimpse for Transformers Universe last year at New York Comic Con but it was only character models. Though originally slated for 2012, we are just getting a first glimpse of gameplay in the new trailer and screens below. From what the trailer shows, Transformers Universe will be getting pushed back until 2013. As with any game delay though, we’d always rather see a game get the polish it deserves rather than be rushed out the door to meet a deadline and end up feeling unfinished or broken.

In the trailer and screens below, we get a first glimpse of the game in action. Character models are a happy medium between the hyper detail “futuristic” look of Transformers: Fall of Cybertron and the cartoonish nature of Transformers Prime. Bot on bot combat is shown, both in melee and firefights and there are some great shots of the vehicles going too.

Interesting New Law Might Take Crowdsourcing To The Next Level

Sites like Kickstarter and Indie GoGo have been offering an avenue for creative people to get a financial boost to start their endeavors. Young and independent artists can now get small projects off the ground based more on the merits of their idea, and less on the ‘who you know’ infrastructure of the creative world.

About a year ago these sites turned a corner as successful game developers who wanted to keep old-fashioned genres alive were able to score huge funding. Essentially starting a Kickstarter explosion that saw a huge influx of independent artists as well as well-known, and likely very wealthy, people looking to spark projects that executives have up to now deemed too risky.

The growing backlash to people like David Fincher asking for 400K from fans has centered around the idea that investing in these large projects that will likely net millions for a studio should be ‘giving back’ to these original funders. Most investments allow the investor a chance to gain profit or at least recoup the investment, but the current legal structure has prohibited sites like Kickstarter from offering a return of investment to the funders. Until now.
