Joss Whedon Says ‘Avengers 2’ Should be More Like ‘Godfather 2’

While most of the fanboy nation is already waiting with baited breath for May 4th to come and all of us to see Marvel’s super film The Avengers, director Joss Whedon is already thinking about where he wants to go with the proposed sequel to the film.

It turns out that while this Avengers film is going to have plenty of big “splash page” style action, Whedon told Digital Spy he would like the next film to play a bit smaller, and more personal for each character.

“By being the next thing that should happen to these characters, and not just a rehash of what seemed to work the first time. By having a theme that is completely fresh and organic to itself.”

Whedon joked that a sequel could take heed from crime classic The Godfather II “by having flashbacks to young Michael Andolini escaping Sicily to come to New York, where he will be called Corleone”.

“Sequels are always better when that happens,” he quipped.

Comedy Central Greenlights Jeff Ross Series & 2 More

The Burn will star Jeff Ross, best known for his Comedy Central Roast apperances. He will be joined by a group of fellow comics to rip apart the week’s current events and will take aim at public figures. Ross, who has appeared in the last nine Comedy Central Roasts, is executive producing The Burn with Mike Gibbons and Tagline TV’s Willie Mercer and Amy Zvi.  Production will start this spring for a premiere in the summer. “My mission is clear,” Ross said. “To rip the world a new asshole one crack at a time. Neal McDonough Set To Star in Frank Darabont’s ‘L.A. Noir’

There are few actors these days that can play just about any part in most geek-driven properties these days. Neal McDonough has gone from playing Bruce Banner in the animated Hulk series, to having a part in Star Trek: First Contact, M. Bison for some reason in Street Fighter, and even playing the fan favorite Dum Dum Dougan in last year’s Captain America: The First Avenger.

Now, McDonough is taking the center stage again with Frank Darabont’s upcoming TNT series based on the video game L.A. Noir. Deadline reports.

LA Noir tells the true story of a decades-long conflict between the LAPD, under the determined leadership of Police Chief Parker (McDonough), and ruthless criminal elements led by mobster Mickey Cohen, a one-time boxer who rose to the top of LA’s criminal world.

RedSn0w Jailbreak Tool Updated to Support iOS 5.1

You have to hand it to the Hacker community. They are indeed persistant. Not even 24 hours after Apple updates iOS to version 5.1, there’s already a tethered tool available to jailbreak it.

Now, we don’t necessarily condone that kind of behavior around here (at least publicly) and we are just providing this as a public service and not endorsing it one way or the other. However, according to the website Redmond Pie, the iPhone Dev Team has updated its Redsn0w too which will enable users to jailbreak their iOS 5.1 devices.

The jailbreak is tethered, however, so you’ll have to connect your IOS device to a computer each time you power it on. However, expect that limitation to be lifted shortly, a it usually is.

This exploit works for all devices running iOS 5.1, except for the Phone 4S and iPad 2. Those are going to take a bit longer too.

Enjoy your “new” iDevice.

Major University to Offer Course on Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse

Everyone who goes to college tries to pick a class or two that helps even out their schedule. For every physics course, they take a remedial drawing course. For every accounting course, there is a “pop culture” class where they just watch movies.

But every now and then, one of these apparent “fluff” classes not only stands out to the student body, but ends up getting students around the country talking. This summer through an online course, Michigan State University will be offering  Surviving the Coming Zombie Apocalypse: Catastrophes & Human Behavior.

The seven week course created by Glen Stutzky from the university’s school of social work designed the class as a way to focus on human behavior during crisis situations, taking historical reference from events such as the Black Plague. Stutzky says, “Students will learn about the nature, scope and impact of catastrophic events on individuals, families, societies, civilizations and the Earth itself.”

The course will begin and end with a simulation of a zombie pandemic and have students fit into survivor groups and face challenges to make it out alive while hopefully maintaining their humanity. A great example of this decision making process could be the debate held on this week’s episode of The Walking Dead.

‘Infinity Blade Dungeons’ Hacks And Slashes All Over The Place In Its First Teaser

Yesterday we told you a bit about ‘the new iPad’, Apple’s 2012 model of everyone’s favorite tablet. One of the games that was shown to showcase the pad’s amazing power was a prequel Infinity Blade.

The trailer for this gorgeous game is now online and it really sells the gaming potential of the new iPad. The original games had a redundancy built in where you had to do the same thing over and over again until you were powerful enough to win. That limited gameplay scope allowed the developers to make every little detail of the game look stunning.

Now that they have the processing power to compete with home consoles they look to have created a game that maintains the level of beauty, but expands on the gameplay. Infinity Blade Dungeons looks to be a hack and slash dungeon crawler that is better looking than any that came before it.

By branching out into a more immersive game play style, Epic Games is finally establishing this IP as the first must have gaming title on the App Store for hardcore gamers. Once that bridge is crossed, the already blurry lines between mobile and home gaming could be shattered forever.

Check out the teaser after the jump.

First Image of Johnny Depp And Armie Hammer From ‘The Lone Ranger’

Twitter is fast becoming a reliable and consistent news stream. A place where people can share comments, pictures or videos directly with fans. Case in point, Jerry Bruckheimer took to his twitter to release the first official image from the upcoming film The Lone Ranger.

The image reveals the updated look to the classic Lone Ranger and his faithful sidekick Tonto. Underneath the crazy make-up on Tonto is Johnny Depp, who seems to be on a mission to have a more elaborate face make-up every time he is on screen.

The very dapper looking Lone Ranger is played by Armie Hammer, who many still don’t realize is the single person who played both Winkelvoss twins in The Social Network. He actually strikes as a very good Lone Ranger, he has the look down pat, and his ability as an actor has been proven.

It will be interesting to see what tone The Lone Ranger is going for. The idea of a western franchise that has the same scope and demeanor of the Pirates films could be pretty great. Somewhere inbetween The Mask of Zorro and Wild Wild West there lies a pretty awesome western adventure, hopefully this film will be it.
