George C. Scott Watches Adam Sandler’s ‘Jack and Jill’ Trailer

It’s a great world we live in when talented people like YouTube’s Pbonanno can take two videos and combine them together to create something funny. In this case the two videos in question are footage from the 1979 George C. Scott film Hardcore, about a man searching for his daughter in the seedy underbelly of society, and the upcoming Adam Sandler “comedy” Jack and Jill where he plays himself and his wacky sister.

Adam Sandler playing both roles? I know, funny right? Um, no. Not. At. All.

To be honest, I pretty much felt the same way as Mr. C. Scott when watching the Sandler trailer. To see what I mean, take a look at the video after the break.

In it, you’ll see the exact reaction to the trailer I’m talking about. I would bet you’ll feel pretty much the same way after seeing it too.

As far as the movie goes, it’s pretty obvious someone lost a bet or something or Sandler has pictures of them with farm animals or children. That’s the only explanation for this kind of crap getting made.

NBC’s ‘The Firm’ Gets Two Leads More Leads

Just the other day I was complaining that the cool and accomplished actor Callum Keith Rennie has seemingly been relegated to guest starring roles on many series including Battlestar Galactica, The Killing and most recently, Syfy’s Alphas. Fortunately, it now seems he’s moving away from guest status into leading territory.

Rennie will join Juliette Lewis in a new Legal Drama for NBC called The Firm. The new show is based on the feature film and bestseller by John Grisham. These two actors will join Josh Lucas who has already been cast in the show as Mitchell McDeere, the role originally played by Tom Cruise in the film.

On the show Lewis will play Tammy, Mitch’s “feisty, sexy receptionist, whose work life is made all the more tumultuous by her on-again, off-again relationship with Mitch’s brother, Ray.” Rennie is will play Ray McDeere, Mitch’s “charming yet volatile older brother whose work as an investigator in Mitch’s office is uniquely informed by his past stretch in prison for manslaughter.”

So, he’s playing kinda a bad guy but with a heart . . .in the right place. I see no reason why he can’t pull that off with no problem whatsoever.

Production on The Firm starts soon in Toronto for a mid-season debut on NBC.

Behold The First Image of Kili & Fili from Peter Jackson’s ‘Hobbit’

As promised, Peter Jackson is delivering on some great goodies and sneak peeks on his upcoming return to the world of J.R.R. Tolkein with The Hobbit. First we got a great look at the dwarves Nori, Ori, and Dori, and now we’re getting a few more great dwarves revealed, as the first image of Kili and Fili surfaces.

Played by Dean O’Gorman (Fili) and Aidan Turner (Kili), these two dwarves will aid Bilbo in his upcoming journey across the globe. Here’s the official description.

Two of the youngest Dwarves, Fili and Kili have been born into the royal line of Durin and raised under the stern guardianship of their uncle, Thorin Oakensheild. Neither has ever travelled far, nor ever seen the fabled Dwarf City of Erebor. For both, the journey to the Lonely Mountain represents adventure and excitement. Skilled fighters, both brothers set off on their adventure armed with the invincible courage of youth, neither being able to imagine the fate which lies before them.

A bit familiar, these characters all look like they belong in the world Jackson helped create on film a decade ago with The Lord of the Rings. That’s more than something another famed trilogy director could pull off (looking at you, Lucas!).

Netflix To Change Pricing Plans, Offer More Options

Now that just about every new device, be it a TV, computer, game console, or Blu-Ray player, comes with Instant Netflix programmed into the device itself, the rules have to change to accommodate just about everyone on the planet watching Netflix either through streaming or the original DVD plan. That means the company is making changes in the way you use the service, and exactly how much you spend monthly.

Now, instead of having that fancy DVD and streaming plan together, the company is making you choose or pay for both at double the price. Here’s the breakdown from the horse’s mouth.

First, we are launching new DVD only plans. These plans offer our lowest prices ever for unlimited DVDs – only $7.99 a month for our 1 DVD out at-a-time plan and $11.99 a month for our 2 DVDs out at-a-time plan. By offering our lowest prices ever, we hope to provide great value to our current and future DVDs by mail members. New members can sign up for these plans by going to DVD.netflix.com.

Second, we are separating unlimited DVDs by mail and unlimited streaming into separate plans to better reflect the costs of each and to give our members a choice: a streaming only plan, a DVD only plan or the option to subscribe to both. With this change, we will no longer offer a plan that includes both unlimited streaming and DVDs by mail.

So if you have the current $9.99 unlimited streaming/DVD plan, you’ll have to pick between paying for JUST unlimited DVD’s at $7.99 or unlimited streaming for $7.99. Or both if you’re so ambitious. Unfortunate, but it was bound to happen with this service becoming more and more popular.

First Trailer for ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’ Hits the Web

Robert Downey Jr. has had a pretty amazing resurgence in his career in the past few years. Mostly due to Favreau’s excellent use of him in both Iron Man and Iron Man 2, but an unrelated film is what put Downey at the top of people’s tongues for time after that. That film starred the once Hollywood bad boy as the world’s first detective, Sherlock Holmes.

The film blew up across the globe, pulling in over $500 million worldwide, and warranting a brand new sequel, that we’re now getting the first look at. Titled “A Game of Shadows, the film looks to give us a pretty awesome rivalry between Sherlock and Moriarty, the shadowy villain from the first film. Here’s the official premise.

Sherlock Holmes has always been the smartest man in the room…until now. There is a new criminal mastermind at large–Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris)–and not only is he Holmes’ intellectual equal, but his capacity for evil, coupled with a complete lack of conscience, may actually give him an advantage over the renowned detective.

Sam Raimi Finds Director for ‘Evil Dead’ Reboot

Yes, that’s right, there’s an actual reboot of the classic horror Evil Dead in the works. It’s been speculated since back in 2004 when Raimi and partner Rob Tapert made declarations that this new generation of horror fans needs an updated version, and it seems like progress is finally getting made as the two have found a prospective director to take on the task.

Bloody-Disgusting has the official scoop.

In an exclusive scoop, we’re told that Fede Alvarez (Federico Alvarez) is directing for Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures and Mandate. The remake was announced way back in 2004. No word on casting or if Bruce Campbell will return.

There are several good things about this bit of news. It’s good that Raimi is in charge of the reboot, and it’s not getting remade by a studio that has no connection to the original. Also, it’s great that Raimi is sticking to his “indie” roots by going with super indie director Alvarez, who directed the awesome gigantic robot short Panic Attack! back in 2009.

SDCC11 Preview: ‘Headlocked Chronicles’

Yesterday in our San Diego Comic-Con Preview, we took a peek at Z-Girl and the 4 Tigers. Today we take a look at the Headlocked Chronicles. From Michael Kingston, Headlocked is the first ever comic that takes a realistic look at the world of professional wrestling. Unlike the WWE’s sports entertainment branded comics that place their superstars in the role of more traditional comic book super heroes, Headlock takes a peek behind the curtain at the inner workings of the wrestling industry.

In the first Headlocked miniseries, the Tryout, which featured covers from WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “the King” Lawler, Kingston told the tale of Mike Hartmann, a college theater major who falls in love with the world of wrestling and sets out on his own journey to become a part of it. Headlocked shows that the wrestling world is far from being all glitz and glamour as Mike goes through a pain filled try out where one of the old guard tries to weed out those he doesn’t feel deserves to be a part of the business.

Headlocked is an intriguing take on an original concept revolving around a world not many people fully understand. The pages of Headlocked are greatly reminiscent of some of my own experiences in an industry that is as drama filled behind the scenes as it is on TV. It is a great representation of the world of Wrestling.

At Comic-Con, Headlocked will be releasing a special $2 preview issue, the Headlocked Chronicles, which reprints one of Headlock’s original 5 page stories as well as a brand new 8 page tale and a ton of new artwork and sketches. Headlocked can be found at booth 1901.

New ‘Batman: Arkham City’ Trailer Gives Us A Glimpse At The Riddler

Batman: Arkham Asylum may have been one of the best games ever made for the franchise, but there were some key elements that went missing, leaving it to be a bit lacking in all things Dark Knight. One of which, was that we only got a small portion of Batman’s rogues gallery to fight in the game itself.

That’s allegedly going to be rectified in the upcoming sequel to the game, in which villains like Two Face, Riddler, and Hugo Strange will be making major appearances. Not only will you get the chance to beat up some of your favorite baddies, but some good guys like Catwoman and Robin will be playable in the game as well.

For those story fans who need more juice, here’s the official synopsis of the game:

Batman: Arkham City builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players soaring into Arkham City, the new maximum security home for all of Gotham City’s thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds.
