Leonard Nimoy Let’s His Spock Out In this Unofficial Bruno Mars Music Video

When you think of current chart-topping pop singer Bruno Mars, Leonard Nimoy is definitely not the first name that comes to mind. Nor is it the second, third, or fifth, for that matter. That hasn’t stopped him from starring in the unused music video for Mars’ newest hit “The Lazy Song” (currently at #6 in Billboard’s Hot 100).

The song is a nice send up to the “classic” stoner anthems of the mid to late 90’s, with a fun summer twist to it. In this music video, we get a taste of what it’s like to live like Spock for a day, and how hilarious and lazy Nimoy can be, or at least how he wants it depicted.

Some great moments in the video, including a few digs and the ubiquitous William Shatner, and Nimoy’s general disposition to the people around him in the video are pretty hilarious.

Check out the unused, yet official video for the Bruno Mars song after the jump, and be sure to leave Spock alone if you ever see him in public. Oh, and don’t call him Spock.

Film Review: ‘X-Men: First Class’

For those keeping count, X-Men: First Class is the fifth film in the X-Men series and, chronologically, the first. It opens with the same sequence of a young Erik Lensherr in a Nazi concentration camp, wrenched from his parents and twisting the metal gates, as in the original X-Men film, but expands on the events immediately following: Erik is brought before Nazi scientist Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon), who tries to harness Erik’s gift by promptly shooting his mother. Across the world, a young Charles Xavier, possessing the gift of mind-reading, catches the shapeshifter Mystique breaking into his family mansion.

Fast-forward to 20-some years later, it’s 1962 and Charles (now played by James McAvoy) is a prominent biologist at Oxford whose work focuses on genetic mutation; Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) is working as a waitress and posing as Xavier’s sister; Lensherr (Michael Fassbender) is hunting down the Nazi scientists who killed his family; and Shaw is now leading a terrorist organization known as the Hellfire Club, aided by his henchmen Emma Frost (January Jones), who also has the power to read minds as well as morph into a sexy diamond, and the demonic-looking Azazel (Jason Flyming), who can teleport as well as impale victims on his pointy tail; finally, there’s Moira MacTaggert (Rose Byrne), a CIA agent who’s hunting down Shaw.

MacTaggert’s investigation uncovers Shaw and his merry band of mutants, which leads her to team up with Xavier and take the villains on aboard Shaw’s yacht, right in step with Lensherr. Shaw escapes, and MacTaggert, Xavier, and Lensherr head back to the CIA, where the three set up a mutant task force (the gathering of which is one of the movie’s best scenes) to save the world.

George Lucas Strikes Back

Now it all makes sense. For years fans have wondered what happened to the visionary genius responsible for films like American Graffiti, Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back. Now, the truth can be told.

Apparently, the real George Lucas has been imprisoned for many years and an impostor has taken his place. How else can one explain the later Star Wars films and the endless obsession with “improving” the original ones.

In this new video from YouTube’s own Slick Gigolo we finally have the real story from the real man himself: George Lucas. At last.

Check out the video after the break. That is, if you can handle the truth.

Chinese Hacker Break Into Gmail Accounts of Government Officials, More

This news should make you feel safe about your Gmail accounts. Might be time to change those passwords that contain your birthday and your kids names. Why are we so paranoid? Read on.

Google on Wednesday confirmed that a hacker from China was able to break into hundreds of Gmail accounts. Fortunately, Google detected the attack almost immediately and notified the victims. Almost as quickly, China has denied involvement in the hacking scheme and denounced the allegations as “unacceptable.”

Several high-profile accounts were reportedly hacked including senior U.S. government personnel, Chinese political activists and government officials from South Korea. The actual hack was a phishing scheme that prompted users to enter their user names and passwords on a web page.

“It’s important to stress that our internal systems have not been affected—these account hijackings were not the result of a security problem with Gmail itself,” Google said on its official Gmail blog.

So again, check those passwords and make them more complex. Also, don’t ever trust anyone who sends you an email asking for your password or other personal information. No legitimate website or company will ever do that.

Official ‘Duke Nukem Forever’ Launch Trailer Arrives

After years of speculation, delays and a feeling it was really never going to happen at all, we’ve finally got a firm belief that Duke Nukem Forever is actually going to come out. How do we know?

Well, we’ve got a launch trailer for the game to share with you today. Sure, it’s only taken about 14 years (the game was first in development in 1997) to get to his point, but who’s counting? Having a launch trailer has got to be a pretty good indicator, right?

In case you’re not familiar with Duke Nukem Forever, it’s the sequel to Duke Nukem 3D, which launched in 1996, and continues the story of badass Duke Nukem as he winds his way through a world infested with zombies, aliens and scantily clad women. In this new game the aliens have returned and are stealing earth’s women. Of course, Duke isn’t having any and takes matters into his own hands.

Check out the trailer after the jump. By clicking through you certify you are 18 years of age or older.

Duke Nukem Forever drops on June 14th for XBox 360, PS3 and PC.

Check Out A Brand New Clip From ‘Green Lantern: Emerald Knights’

This week is all X-Men, but next week begins the time of Green Lantern as it’s the next major superhero film to hit this summer. The live-action film hits theaters on June 17th, but way before that, you’ll be getting the geek’s fan favorite choice as Hal Jordan, Nathan Fillion, lending his voice in the animated anthology Green Lantern: Emerald Knights.

The film is a series of stories surrounding Jordan and a few other members of the Green Lantern Corps as they fight crime across the universe. There are some pretty impressive names attached the film alongside Fillion. Roddy Piper, Henry Rollins, Kelly Hu, Arnold Vosloo, and Elisabeth Moss all lend their voices to fight space crime.

In a recent interview, King of the Geeks Fillion discussed how much he’s always wanted to play the Emerald Hero, even since childhood.

As a child, when you’re pretending you’re different super heroes, Green Lantern was the easiest because all you needed to light the fire in the imagination was the ring.  Superman, you need a cape; Spiderman, you need a full face mask.  That wasn’t tough to come by in a winter town like where I’m from, but they’re just too hot to wear in the summer. So to be Green Lantern, all you needed to do is suck a lifesaver down to the right size, and to make sure it’s a lime one – slip it on your finger, and you were good.

Sounds like a match made in heaven to us. Check out a brand new clip from Green Lantern: Emerald Knights after the jump and be sure to grab the film on DVD and Blu-Ray next Tuesday, June 7th.
