The Boys Are Back In This New Trailer for ‘Expendables 3’

expendables-3-logo-1

You don’t really need it because who cares about the plot, but here it is anyway.

In The Expendables 3, Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables — but Barney has other plans.

Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.

And yes, a ton of stuff blows up and all of these dudes keep on kicking ass. Well, as much as they can at their age. Nobody wants to break a hip.

Check out the trailer (more of a teaser really) after the break. Expendables 3 arrives August 15, 2014.

All-New_Invaders_1_Cover-Crop-1

Even with all the movie and TV news coming out these days, let’s not forget about comics. In fact, when the comics in question are this cool, we can’t help but be excited.

The new comic we’re talking about is Marvel’s upcoming reboot of Invaders. Here’s more on the new series (including preview pages of course):

In a bid to conquer the universe, the Kree Empire has discovered a way to weaponize Norse Gods. It falls to Brothers-in-arms Captain America, The Winter Soldier, Namor, and The Original Human Torch to re-band for a different kind of war. One that will force them to face the future and save the Earth from the Kree Empire.

“James Robinson and Steve Pugh have put 120% of their talents into this project,” said Senior Editor Mark Paniccia. “The end-result is an exciting superhero adventure dropping this legendary team into the current Marvel Universe at hyper drive.”

Check out the previews after the break. Look for Invaders #1 to arrive on January 22.

These Damn, Dirty Apes Are Pissed In a New Trailer for ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’

Caesar-Dawn-of-the-Planet-of-the-Apes-2014-1

The recent reboot of Planet of the Apes was actually pretty good. Yeah, we were surprised too. Naturally, Fox is back with a sequel and there’s a first trailer out today.

The amazing Andy Serkis is, of course, back as Caesar. The also amazing Gary Oldman is in the cast too as the leader of the human survivors of a virus that’s decimated the planet.

In the film, the humans and apes are working together but soon, that truce is put to the test as events unfold pitting human against ape in a struggle to determine who will survive to rule the earth.

Our money is on the apes. Hail Caesar!

Check out the trailer after the break. Look for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes to hit theaters on July 11, 2014.

Blu-ray Review: Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal In ‘Prisoners’

prisoners-blu-ray-jackman-gyllenhaal-1

Before I go too far with this review of the Blu-ray Combo Pack release of director Dennis Villeneuve’s film Prisoners, I need to make a couple things clear. First, I’m a Hugh Jackman fan. I think he’s a very good actor who’s almost always a pleasure to watch.

Even in less-than-stellar movies, he usually stands out. That’s not to say Prisoners is one of those movies, it isn’t. It’s just so you know where I’m coming from.

The second thing I need to point out is my love of a adult drama. For a time Hollywood made a lot of these kinds of movies and they were often quite good. Occasionally, even excellent. Standouts in the past like The Fugitive, Jagged Edge and Presumed Innocent come to mind.

Plus, more recent films like Argo and Silver linings Playbook are also good examples. But most of the time the industry seems consumed with the need to make and market movies for kids and skimp on things like character or story. I worry about the future of adult drama.

Fortunately, a movie occasionally comes along that restores my faith, at least temporarily, that this art form will not be lost forever. Prisoners is one of those movies and it manages to deliver on almost every level.

Kevin Costner Is In Town With ‘3 Days to Kill’ In This New Trailer

3-days-to-kill-costner-1

Kevin Costner is one of those actors you like to watch no matetr what movie he happens to be in. Sure, he doesn’t always make the best choices and some of his movies bomb, but that doesn’t seem to make him any less interesting or appealing.

His next one is called 3 Days to Kill and we’ve got a trailer for the movie for you today. In the movie: “a dangerous international spy (Costner) is determined to give up his high stakes life to finally build a closer relationship with his estranged wife and daughter, whom he’s previously kept at arm’s length to keep out of danger.”

Yes, there’s a catch. “First he must complete one last mission- even if it means juggling the two toughest assignments yet: hunting down the world’s most ruthless terrorist and looking after his teenage daughter for the first time in ten years, while his wife is out of town.”

Man, we know how that can be. Look for 3 Days to Kill, which in addition to Costner stars Amber Heard, Connie Nielsen and Hailee Steinfeld, to arrive in 2014. Check out the trailer after the break.

Get Your First Look at Marvel’s ‘Inhumanity: Superior Spider-Man’

Inhumanity_Superior_Spider-Man_Cover-crop

One day we’ll see Spider-Man where he really belongs: in a big budget movie with the rest of The Avengers. Until then, we’ll just have to content ourselves with enjoying his adventures in comics (or, those other movies). And that’s okay, especially when the comics are this cool.

Here’s all you need to know about Inhumanity: Superior Spider-Man, directly from Marvel:

The Inhuman city of Attilan has detonated and crashed from the skies, leaving dangerous wreckage and equally dangerous Inhuman technology all over Manhattan. It’s up to the Superior Spider-Man to stop the chaos. But he’s not alone. And he’s about to learn that super powers aren’t all it takes to be superior – and heroes can come from anywhere.

Check out the preview pages for the comic, written by Christos Gage with art by Stephanie Hans, after the break. Look for Inhumanity: Superior Spider-Man to hit stores on January 15.

TV RECAP: ‘Once Upon a Time’ Ep. 311: ‘Go Home’

JOSH DALLAS, COLIN O'DONOGHUE, MICHAEL RAYMOND-JAMES, ROSE MCIVER

It has been a very long and exhausting(ly boring) half a season of Once Upon a Time, Oncers. But we made it! We braved the Neverland forest of perpetual setbacks and sides stories. We survived the onslaught of emotional baggage from everyone from the unusual suspects (Snow & Charming) to we-expect-better-from-you characters (Rumple).

We even managed to stay tuned in while a slew of new faces joined this entirely too large cast and enjoyed some (Ariel) while questioning the purpose of others (Tink). So now, Peter Pan’s twisted tale comes to a close, Rumple finds his courage and Emma gets to change her mind about a life-altering decision. Time for us all to go home…

Felix and fake Pan drop random vials of magic from Regina’s vault into Storybrooke’s well. But as we all recall, in order for the curse to work you have to supply the heart of the thing you love most. For Pan it’s not Rumple but Felix (a friendship/loyalty kind of love, just so we’re clear). The Lost Boy isn’t so sure about this plan and can’t we talk about this…Nope. He heart is ripped out and crushed into the well.

This is all while Gold is explaining to the main cast that the new curse will follow Pan’s evil machinations, just like the old curse did Regina’s. The solution is twofold: First, switch Pan and Henry back to their bodies, which requires the Black Fairy’s wand. Second, get the scroll back and Regina can cancel the new curse. A plan in place the team breaks their huddle while green smoke billows up from the well. Credits.

McDonald’s and Microsoft Giveaway XBox Ones, Fox Shows and XBLA Games

One Hot Holiday

If you’ve been to McDonald’s recently you may have seen their latest pull tab giveaway is focusing on XBox. While Taco Bell is backing the PlayStation 4, Mickey D’s is going gung ho with Microsoft to push the XBox One, XBox Music, XBox Video and the XBox Live Arcade. Unlike previous giveaways like Monopoly where McDonald’s food items were up for grabs, everything that can be won from this promotion is XBox related. You’ll find the full breakdown of prizes below including the top prizes, XBox Ones with a copy of Forza Motorsport 5.

The one thing that stood out though were the XBox Live Arcade titles. All of them are on the 360. Now I understand the idea is to give people something they are more likely to be able to use like XBox Music, Video or Gold since they can be applied to either the XBox One or 360, but it seemed strange to not give games for the previous gen system and none for the XBox One. It’s true not every game could be redeemed for XBox One yet, especially since these seem to have limited codes, but it feels a little like the early adopters are getting ignored for their fervor to get the system early yet again.

That said, I was able to win the only game from Twisted Pixel Games that I didn’t already own, The Maw. It is currently downloading on my XBox 360 as the XBox One cools down from another busy weekend.

Take a look below at the full list of prizes and chick out One Hot Holiday for more details.

  • XBox One & Forza Motorsport 5
  • XBox Music Pass & XBox Live Gold 1 Month Membership
  • XBox Live Gold 1 Month Membership
  • The Maw for XBox 360
  • Ms. Splosion Man for XBox 360
  • Aqua for XBox 360
  • The Wolverine Digital HD movie download
  • Episode of a Fox Series: Enlisted, Bones, Raising Hope
