Newest Trailer for ‘Percy Jackson and The Olympians’

percy-jackson-the-lightning-thief-book-coverEvery year, there tends to be a common theme in most big-budget Hollywood films. Back in 2006, magicians were a big hit, as in both The Illusionist and The Prestige. We haven’t even hit 2010 yet, but it looks like the theme for next year may just be Greek Mythology, between Clash of the Titans and Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief.

Though the name is WAY too long, this newest trailer actually makes the film look quite good, and even shows off the who’s who of a cast, from Rosario Dawson to Pierce Brosnon to Uma Thurman. The film is about a regular boy who finds out that he’s actually the son of a Greek God, and must then embark on an adventure which will help him earn his title as demigod.

The film is based on the series of books by Rick Riordan, and even has epic family film director Chris Columbus behind the wheel. The film hits theaters on February 12th, 2010, and you can check out the international trailer after the jump.

Dropbox Improves Features, Updates iPhone App

dropbox

We’re fans of Dropbox here at The Flickcast and we use it almost every day to share files with our contributors all over the world. Well, okay, all over the US and Canada. Anyway, the service is pretty cool and offers an easy and convenient way for users separated by distance to give each other all kinds of different files types.

Dropbox also has an app for the iPhone, which has been recently updated to a new version. The Dropbox iPhone app is free from the App Store and is 3.0 compatible too. Also in the works is a soon-to-be-released update to the app that includes optional passcode locking, better handling of images and more. So, look for that one soon. The service will also see other enhancements in the coming months including larger storage options, PayPal support and the one I’m really waiting for: selective sync.

In the meantime, check out Dropbox at their new website and see if you don’t think its as useful as we do.

‘New Moon’ Gets Trumped By ‘Three Wolf Moon’

3wolfmoonWith a new moon arriving this past Monday, and a film called New Moon arriving in theaters this Friday, it was only expected that the vengeful internet gods would take this week as time to spoof the film based on Stephanie Meyer’s book.

Saturday Night Live was one of the most recent groups to jump on spoofing the highly popular book/movie series, and now it looks like our pals at College Humor have done the same. What’s one thing that can trump a vampire and a werewolf? Three wolves…and a moon.

For those unaware, there is a phenomenon moving across the country, a phenomenon in which people everywhere think that wearing a shirt with three wolves howling at the moon makes them “cool” or “badass”. This trailer proves that they may have been right all along.

Check out the video after the jump, starring the lovely Aubrey Plaze from NBC’s Parks and Recreation. Enjoy.

‘Tony Hawk: RIDE’ Now In Stores

tony-hawk-ride-package

We gave you a preview of this game before, complete with a look at the innovative new skateboard controller. Now, you’re wait is over because the game hits store shelves in North America today. Available for the Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, the game’s main attraction lies in its wireless skateboard controller that’s full of motion sensors and allows players to more or less feel that they are on a real skateboard and part of the game.

The game and skateboard are bundled together for $119.99, which is relatively cheap considering the many hours of fun you can have around the office watching your co-workers wipe out trying to relive their skateboarding “glory days.” So, dig into your closet and pull out that old pair of Vans because its time to ride, the Tony Hawk way. Or, at least you can try because let’s face it, you’re never going to be close to as good as Tony Hawk.

But at least if you fall down a bunch of times while playing the game in your living room, nobody will see it and make fun of you. And that’s a good thing.

Conan O’Brien and Andy Richter Guest On ‘Between Two Ferns’

conan-obrien.0.0.0x0.389x450For those unaware, one of the best and most poignant talk shows isn’t on network or cable television — it’s actually only on Funny Or Die. The show? Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifiniakis. The comedic relief from such films and TV shows as The Hangover and Bored To Death hosts a satire of bad local interview shows with some of his Hollywood friends, and each are funnier than the last.

Lately, he has had such guests as Mad Men’s Jon Hamm, Charlize Theron, and even fellow Hangover star Bradley Cooper. His most recent episode had the dynamic duo of late night TV, Conan O’Brien and Andy Richter. Zach has a bit of a problem with Conan, and he doesn’t hide it very well.

Check out the video behind the jump, courtesy of FunnyOrDie.com, and be sure to keep your eye on Zach G and his upcoming endeavors, as he’s on the way to toppling Will Ferrel for Hollywood’s King of Comedy.

Warner Bros. Offers DVD Trade-In For Blu-Ray

bluraycollectionA few months ago, we reported that Warner Bros. Home Video put together a new initiative where consumers could send in certain HD DVD’s and get a shiny new Blu-Ray copy in the mail. The service only cost about $5 per trade, which was a bonus considering the price of Blu-Ray discs at the time.

Well, it looks like that plan worked so well that the studio is doing it again, this time with your standard DVD collection in The DVD2Blu project. With Black Friday and the holiday season just around the corner, it is projected that Blu-Ray players and discs will jump in sales from now until the end of the year. This, of course, would render your regular DVD collection obsolete.

Though it was only $5 for the Red2Blu service, it looks like this time the price is now $7.95, which is still a huge difference in going out and spending $30-$40 on a new Blu Ray collection. The offered discs on the site is pretty extensive, considering that it is only through Warner’s Home Video releases.

Check out the DVD2Blu site, see how you an upgrade your DVD collection, and get ready for the HD Quality revolution!
