Christoph Waltz to Replace Nic Cage in ‘Green Hornet’

christoph-waltzWith the publicity for Seth Rogen and Michel Gondry’s Green Hornet picking up steam in the past monh or so, more news has come out on the casting of the main villain in he film, Mr. X. The role was originally set to go to Nicolas Cage, but for whatever reason (possibly the fact that he’s got another superhero film in the works with Kick-Ass), Cage has stepped down from his role.

We now recieve word that the role will instead be taken on by Christoph Waltz, fresh from playing the Nazi baddie in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds.

“I’m told that ICM’s actor Christoph Waltz who won Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival for playing a Nazi in Inglourious Basterds (and is a shoo-in for an Oscar nomination) has now been cast as villain Chudnofsky in Sony’s The Green Hornet opposite Seth Rogen and Cameron Diaz.

Since Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds came out — and crossed the $100M mark this weekend – Waltz has been offered a lot of big movies by a lot of big directors. And he’s getting big bucks now. How great he’s found success at age 52.”

This is the second news of an actor getting replaced from the film after Stephen Chow stepped down from both directing and the role of Kato. See Waltz, Rogen, and Cameron Diaz in theaters for Green Hornet on December 17, 2010.

Chris Evans Talks ‘Fantastic Four’ Reboot

chris-evans-human-torchWith lots of new and wacky things going on over at Marvel right now, there was one somewhat bizarre decision that was actually made before Mickey Mouse got his paws in the door. That  decision was to reboot Fantastic Four a mere 4 years after the first film hit theaters.

The plan is for Fox to reboot the franchise with all new actors and probably a new origin story for theaters in 2013. What do the first set of actors have to say about their roles being wiped from continuity? Well, Joblo.com recently got a chance to talk to Chris Evans, the first Human Torch, and he didn’t seem very happy about the idea.

“I don’t think I’m going to be involved with it. I’d imagine the reboot, it would be a reboot. I think they’re going to start from scratch. And that’s the way those movies…it seems like sometimes they happen quicker than others, you know. BATMAN, there was a big chunk of time, but the new BATMAN movies are fantastic.

SUPERMAN, you know, THE INCREDIBLE HULK — sometimes there’s a big gap and sometimes there’s a small gap. If there’s room to reinvent a franchise in a different tone and they can make a good film out of it, then so be it. I have nothing negative to say about it.”

Nintendo Wii to Drop Its Price?

Wii_main_0909-1158254665367-440_330After reporting to you that Sony had dropped the PS3 price a few weeks ago, it looks like the Nintendo Wii may be following suit. According to Kotaku, the Wii price drop will happen around the first week in October. Several retail listings, including a future Walmart ad, “loosely date, but not price” a new price for the Wii.

Nintendo’s official response to Kotaku? “Nintendo does not respond to rumors and speculation.” Nintendo had recently said they weren’t dropping the Wii’s price. “Right now,” Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said at a recent investor Q&A, “there aren’t a lot of discussions going on about what exactly to do about hardware pricing.”

The new PS3 Slim came with a new price tag, and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 has gone through several price drops, as well as more economical versions of the console. As the Wii enters its fourth holiday season having never dropped its price from $249 and the economy continues to suffer, a price drop would make sense at this point.

We’ll keep this in our rumor file for now. We’ll also report more to you as the holiday season grows closer with big Nintendo releases like Wii Fit Plus and New Super Mario Bros.

Full Trailer for HBO’s ‘Bored to Death’

Picture 7We’ve been known to gush a bit about rising star Zach Galifianakis here at The Flickcast, and for good reasons. There is one new project that Zach is attached to in particular that seems to look better and better, the more we get to see of it.

Bored to Death is a brand new HBO comedy about a writer who decides to pick up a night job as a noir-style private detective. Starring Jason Schwartzman (very funny), Ted Danson (was funny once), Patton Oswalt (SUPER funny), and Galifianakis (superstar), the show looks to be HBO’s new breakout comedy hit.

Not many can recall a good noir spoof done in the past decade. The first two that come to mind, The Singing Detective and Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, both star Robert Downy, Jr. Both films also pull off the “smoke and gun” look of the 1950’s crime drama, while still not taking themselves very seriously. Bored to Death seems to walk that same line, and walk it well.

Catch the full-length trailer after the jump. Bored to Death premieres on HBO Sunday, September 20th.

First Trailer for ‘Solomon Kane’

solomon_kaneThere are quite a few big films set to release next year that are already starting their marketing campaign. One of these that we are particularly excited about is Solomon Kane. We were lucky enough to talk to director Michael J. Bassett and star James Purefoy (Rome) in San Diego during Comic-Con, after which we were convinced that this film is worth paying close attention to.

Over the weekend, the first trailer for the film got released, and it only made anticipation for the film greater. For those unaware, the film is based on the character created by Robert E. Howard, who also created Conan. The story follows Solomon Kane, the sword-wielding hero who takes down paranormal evildoers in order to preserve his spot in Heaven.

Check out the first trailer after the break. Even though you might be skeptical about this film, we can assure you that despite not having major studio distribution and it’s similarities to other films such as Van Helsing, this film is sure to be an epic success.

New Set Pics from ‘Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps’

Picture 3There are plenty of sequels and reboots of films that shouldn’t be getting made today. From things like Big Mama’s House 2 to The Incredible Hulk, most of these films don’t really have a reason to get made. Then there is a film like Wall Street 2 that could have a decent social or economic message if it were done properly today. Luckily, this film sequel not only has the original cast returning, but Shia LaBeouf will be throwing his hat into the ring as well.

Recently, set pictures from the film have popped up online (form a Shia LaBeouf fansite) of LaBeouf shooting alongside Frank Langella in what looks like Central park, while being directed by Oliver Stone. Langella plays LaBeouf’s mentor in the film, teaching him the ways of Wall Street. Other than the fact that Michael Douglas is returning to reprise his legendary role of Gordon Gekko and that characters will most likely learn valuable lessons about the dangers of greed, we don’t know much else about the plot of the film.

Check out the images after the jump. Expect to see Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps in theaters April 23, 2010.
