The First Four Minutes of ‘Green Lantern: First Flight’

hal-jordan-green-lanternWhile we wait somewhat patiently for Ryan Reynolds eventual big-screen appearance in the Green Lantern movie, his character will make an appearance on screen much sooner in animated form in the upcoming Green Lantern: First Flight feature film. And now, courtesy of the folks over at MTV Splashpage, we can bring you the first four minutes of the movie right now.

Actor Chris Meloni lends his voice to Hal Jordan along with a cast that includes Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum Juliet Landau (as Labella), Michael Madsen (Kilowog), Tricia Helfer (Boodikka) and Victor Garber (Sinestro). Among other things, this clip gives you a look at how Jordan becomes the Green Lantern but doesn’t go too much into most of the movie’s other details — which is probably a good thing.

Fortunately, if you’re heading down to San Diego this week for Comic-Con, you’ll be able to see the entire film when its screened during the Con. Or, if you’re not going to be at Comic-Con, Green Lantern: First Flight will drop on DVD and Blu-ray on Tuesday, July 28.

Either way, be sure to check out the preview after the jump.

Speaking of The Plan, which premieres later this year, Universal as just given us the scoop that they will be releaseing a Blu-day version of The Plan on October 27, the same day they drop the standard-def DVD.

Robert Pattinson Vs. Daniel Radcliffe

robert-pattinson-daniel-radcliffeIn the world of young adult fantasy, you could make the argument that Harry Potter, and his cinematic incarnation Daniel Radcliffe, still reign supreme. However, in recent years, another young man has made great strides up that hill of tween fandom and has become a major player and a force to be reckoned with. I’m talking, of course, about Twilight’s Edward Cullen, as played by Robert Pattinson.

So, who’s more popular? Who do thirteen-year-old girls love more? Its hard to say. But one thing you can say about these two actors is that they don’t seem to like each others movies very much — at least according to this video from last night’s Jimmy Fallon Show.

Even with all the apparent bad feelings, rest assured both franchises will still be around for many years to come. Because no matter what actors, critics or the man on the street feels about a movie, the fact that both franchises make a ton of money is enough to insure their continued presence on bookstore shelves, in theaters and in the hearts of fans everywhere.

Check it out after the jump.

Join the Marvel Costume Contest at Comic-Con

marvel-costume-contest-smallOne of the great things about Comic-Con in San Diego is that fans like to dress up as their favorite characters from comics, movies and TV. But really, “like” doesn’t exactly cover it. They really, really, really like to dress up and its one of the things that makes Comic-Con attendees special: they take their fandom seriously.

What better way, then, to honor these hard core fanboys and girls than with a contest where they can win all sorts of cool prizes? Fortunately, that’s just what the folks at Marvel are doing next week in San Diego. Sure, there’s the “official” costume extravaganza at Comic-Con, but that one doesn’t feature a grand prize personally autographed by Stan Lee.

Here’s all the info from Marvel’s own virtual lips:

Fan Film Friday: Every Week on Entourage

entourageThere are plenty of decent shows on HBO lately, from southern vampires to man-whores to polygamy, but one show in particular that has tons of potential, but keeps coming up short is the semi-biographical tale of Marky Mark Whalberg, Entourage.

Unfortunately, the show has a great premise, but comes up short when looking at it from the standpoint of character development or plot conflict. Our friends over at College Humor feel the exact same way, and illustrate it in this week’s Fan Film Friday.

For those who are unaware or don’t get the premium channels on their monthly cable bill, Entourage follows actor Vincent Chase and his group of childhood friends from Queens as they constantly fail upwards in Hollywood.

The show ends up becoming more about the supporting cast than the focal character, but I suppose that is explained in the name. Check out the video after the jump, which also stars new SNL cast member Bobby Moynihan and almost Vincent D’Onofrio.

First Look at Wes Anderson’s ‘The Fantastic Mr. Fox’

lilmrfox2

Wes Anderson’s highly anticipated adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic children’s book, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, has been kept quiet and under wraps. But as the film’s release date creeps closer, it seems like we’ve been getting nothing on this film… until right now! Ain’t It Cool News posted the first photos from the movie we’ve seen! They look absolutely amazing. In case you’re not familiar with the book, the story follows Mr. Fox and his family who are targeted by wealthy, angry farmers after the fox steals their chickens, ducks and turkeys.

Hopefully some more photos, and maybe even a trailer (fingers crossed!) will be revealed at Comic-Con next week. The Fantastic Mr. Fox, featuring the voice of Meryl Streep, Owen Wilson, Michael Gambon, Bill Murray and George Clooney as Mr. Fox, creeps into theaters November 15.
