Growing up, we all loved Mario Kart. There was something about getting four friends together and surrounding a TV, playing split screen and systematically screwing over your best friend at the last second with a well timed red shell to capture first place. The series continued to shine as it moved from Super Nintendo all the way to the Wii but at the same time, it didn’t feel like that different of a game. Instead, it was more of a wash, rinse, repeat formula with updated graphics. And we all grew up along the way as well.
Don’t get me wrong, I still love the fat plumber who seems to be stuck in platonic-friend-land with Princess Peach even though he has saved her life a million times. But eventually, go carts don’t do it for me anymore. When I think of a racing game I could walk out of a store purchasing, it has real cars in it. I still want the insane chaos of blowing my friends off along the way though. Enter Blur.
Gameplay:
Blur is everything described above and then some in terms of gameplay. Instead of just mirroring what Mario Kart did well, Blur improves upon it. Instead of straight up races with weapons, Blur features multiple game modes. While it does feature the traditional combat racing, I’ll get back to that in a second. Also included are Checkpoint and Destruction modes.
Checkpoint is pure speed. Players need to cut corners perfectly, time speed boost power-ups to the millisecond and collect stopwatches to add more time as they try to not just finish a race within its time frame, but to have as much time left as possible on their leaderboard score. There is no true opponent in this mode as players are only racing against themselves. For people who love time trial modes, this is where they will find themselves most.

I’m normally more of a first person shooter kind of a guy so when Activison and Bizarre Creations first announced their Blur racing game, I really wasn’t all that interested. However, after seeing all the inventive trailers, screenshots and having a chance to check out the game, I’ve changed my mind because this game looks, and is, pretty kick-ass and I hope it does well.
With that in mind, our friends at Activision have sent us another trailer for the game and, as always, we can’t wait to share it with you. Like last time, this one is another trailer showcasing the game’s multiplayer features. These features, and many more, have been able to be used during the game’s online miltiplayer beta which has been going on for some time.
The online beta, one of the most successful in Activision’s history with over one million downloads, will now add even more features including the following: the ability to play A-Class cars in standard playlists, an expanded Supercar Racing Playlist that include races in Tokyo and Amboy, Power-Ups that now shuffle so each race has different Power-Up placement and the ability for Players to earn double the amount of fans for each race.
These features, not coincidentally, are the ones highlighted in the trailer today. So, to check them out click through to watch it. Blur hits the streets in North America on May 25 and Europe on May 28.

Even though we’ve brought you quite a bit of information about Activision and Bizarre Creations Blur racing game already, that doesn’t mean there won’t be anything cool left when the game actually hits stores. We’ve had a lot of screenshots and some trailers and this time around we’ve got another trailer for you.
However, this isn’t just any trailer, it’s one featuring actual gameplay footage from the upcoming multiplayer beta for the game. The multiplayer beta, which starts next Monday, allows players to race across the Internets and features “the ultimate multiplayer racing gameplay experience.”
The game offers a first in the racing genre with up to 20 players online at the same time, a progressive ranking system that rewards gamers the more they play, objective based race events, and if that weren’t enough, Blur brings back a fan favorite with 4-player split-screen gameplay. Sounds cool, right? Yeah, we think so too.
Besides, isn’t most everything better in a group? Check out the trailer featuring all the hot multiplayer action after the jump.
Blur will be available this spring for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

We’ve been following Activision and Bizarre Creations’ upcoming racing game Blur for some time now and each time we get more info, a trailer or other items, we get more interested in the game. This time is no exception.
Today, we’ve got another trailer for the game which takes things in a more social direction. In the video, the Bizarre Creations team discusses the social gameplay aspects of the game, including how the game brings people together — except maybe when seeking serious revenge on your opponent. Yes, those things happen.
Also, our friends at Activision wanted us to remind you that the Blur multiplayer beta launches in March. So mark that date on your calendars. We’ll have more details on that for you when we get them. In the meantime, click on through to the other side to check out the brand new trailer.
Blur will be available this spring for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

It may not be as obvious as our love for movies, TV or comics, but we do love video games around here as well. One of the companies we frequently seems to purchase games from is Activision. Their titles, including the Call of Duty and Guitar Hero franchises, are among the most fun and most successful out there. Another one of their games that looks to be pretty great as wels is the upcoming Blur racing game.
We’ve had trailers and screenshots from the game previously and now we’ve got another trailer for the game to share with you today. In this one, Activision takes you under the hood and features the Bizarre Creations development team, who created the game for publisher Activision, discussing Blur’s storyline, unique driving styles, impressive stunts and more.
In case you haven’t been following our coverage of the game before, Blur is, according to Activision: “the ultimate powered-up racing experience, dropping players into heart-pumping, electrified action with multiple cars trading paint as they charge towards the finish line.” Does that sound like fun, or what?
Blur will be available this spring for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Until then, check out this latest trailer after, you guessed it, the jump.

Activision and Bizarre Creations’ Blur racing game has inspired some great trailers so far, and this latest one is no exception. This time around, we get a lot more “fastrack” gameplay but also, as in the past, a pretty funny story to go along with it.
To refresh your memory about the game, Blur is the “ultimate powered-up racing experience, dropping players into heart-pumping, electrified action with multiple cars trading paint as they charge towards the finish line.” In the game, drivers “careen through real-world track locations packed with fast curves, sneaky alternate routes and hair-raising jumps in over 50 licensed cars as they collect intense Power-ups, including the ability to blast other cars out of the way with huge bursts of energy, boost their speed, and more.”
Yes, I realize that’s a lot of quotes but sometimes, believe it or not, press releases really do contain valuable information. This just happens to be one of those times, but don’t get used to it.
Click through to check out the new trailer. Blur hits store shelves soon.

We’ve been tracking Activision and Bizarre Creations’ Blur racing game for some time here at The Flickcast. As its release draws nearer, we’re even more eager to get a chance to play it — especially when we see new trailers for the game like we have for you today. In the past the company has delivered some rather inspired videos to get you in the mood for some extreme racing action. This time is no exception.
In this latest video, you get to further check out the game and see some of “Blur’s power-ups and four-player split-screen in action.” Which, of course, sounds and looks awesome. In case you haven’t been following our Blur coverage, here’s a bit of info on the game:
“Blur is the ultimate powered-up racing experience, dropping players into heart-pumping, electrified action with multiple cars trading paint as they charge towards the finish line. Drivers careen through real-world track locations packed with fast curves, sneaky alternate routes and hair-raising jumps in over 50 licensed cars as they collect intense Power-ups, including the ability to blast other cars out of the way with huge bursts of energy, boost their speed, and more.” I know, right?
Click through to check out the new trailer. Blur hits store shelves later this year.

Sometimes, in the quest to build awareness of a new, upcoming video game, we end up getting some boring old advertising that gives you the important parts and information but doesn’t present them in a new and interesting way. Fortunately, with this latest video from our friends at Activision and Bizarre Creations about the upcoming racing game Blur, we don’t have this problem.
In this video, giving you the vital information is done in a very humorous and interesting way. We’re treated to funny vignettes and scenes of sheer lunacy in oder to inform, entertain and generally get the word out. Its great to see this much effort being put into a game’s marketing before it comes out. If the advertising and the campaign are this well done by people who obviously care about what they’re doing, imagine how great the game itself is going to be?
Even if I wasn’t that interested in the game before, which I wasn’t to be honest as I don’t play many racing games, I’m actually way more interested now because of this video. I’m really interested to see if the quality carries over to the game itself. I’ll bet it probably does.
Check out the video and see for yourself after the jump. Blur hits store shelves later this year.

We brought you some screen images from Activision’s upcoming racing game Blur before here at the site. And now we’ve got some moving images — in the form of a brand new trailer — to share with you now. This game, according to Activision, is “the ultimate wheel-to-wheel racing experience, dropping players into heart-pumping, electrified action with multiple cars trading paint as they charge towards the finish line.”
And as if that weren’t enough, the game also has a story and is not just about racing around really, really fast and causing myhem in your wake. The game’s story unfolds via a “unique and innovative community-based interface, enabling players to build a network of allies, rivals, fans and personalized racing experiences with friends both inside and outside the game.”
Sounds good to me. Blur hits store shelves later this year . Check out the brand new trailer after the jump.
