Like its sister network HBO already has, Cinemax has been moving into the original dramatic series arena. One of its most recent successes is the action series Strike Back, which just finished its second season on the network and will be coming back next year for a third.
Next up for Cinemax is another action series called Hunted. This one stars Melissa George, comes from X-Files writer and producer Frank Spotnitz and will run eight episodes.
The series is set in the world of international espionage with George starring as Sam Hunter, “a skilled, gutsy operative for Byzantium, a secretive private firm involved in global intelligence and espionage. After surviving an attempt on her life that may have been orchestrated by members of her own team, she returns to work, but doesn’t know who to trust.”
We’ve got some video from the series first episode to share with you today. Check them out after the break.
Hunted premieres tomorrow night, Friday October 19th, at 10/9C on Cinemax.

If you’ve been missing shows like The Unit and 24 now that they’re off the air, you might want to check out the Cinemax original series Strike Back. The second season premieres tonight and with it comes even more action, drama, explosions and, as it’s Cinemax, graphic nudity and sex than you could ever want in a show.
The Emmy-nominated series follows the stealth counterterrorism unit Section 20 and two of its core members: Sgt. Michael Stonebridge (Philip Winchester), a consummate British operative, and Sgt. Damien Scott (Sullivan Stapleton), an unconventional former Delta Force soldier.
According to Cinemax: “the second season begins with Scott on a standard security mission in Kenya and Section 20 facing new pressures from command. Now out of the unit, Stonebridge is training recruits at a military base, staying close to home and being a dutiful husband. When Scott’s mission takes an unexpected dangerous turn, Section 20 must find an immediate creative solution.”
Check out all the videos and pics after the break. Strike Back premieres tonight at 9/8C on Cinemax.

We love spies and spy shows. We especially love spies and spy shows that feature kick-ass lead characters played by actresses we really like (who also happen to be hot).
The upcoming BBC spy show Hunted has all of those elements, and more. Written and directed by Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files), Hunted is an eight part series starring Melissa George as Sam Hunter, a skilled operative for a private intelligence firm.
According to the BBC, the character of Sam is “a complex and mysterious Bourne style female spy.” Sounds good to us.
We’ve got the first trailer for the show, which will air on both the BBC and Cinemax here in the U.S., and it’s chock full of spy action and everything else you would hope to see. We like it. Let us know what you think.
Hunted is set to premiere on BBC One and Cinemax this fall.

With the news that Cinemax’s Strike Back is getting another season it’s not too late to get into it. In fact, there’s a brand new episode tonight.
Even better we’ve got a preview for the episode to share with you today. The episode looks to feature quite a bit of action this week, if the preview is any indication.
Here’s the scoop on tonight’s episode:
While held hostage, Scott (Sullivan Stapleton) and Stonebridge (Philip Winchester) question undercover MI-6 agent John Allen (Adrian Rawlins) about his dealings with Latif (Jimi Mistry). They receive unexpected help when they try to escape Hasani’s (Mel Raido) compound with the hostages, but get separated after an assault on a bridge. Stonebridge goes MIA and Scott tries to rescue the rest of the hostages from another of Hasani’s facilities.
Check out the video after the break. Strike Back airs tonight at 10/9C on Cinemax.

We’ve been following Strike Back since it debuted a couple months ago and so far, we like it. Apparently, so do enough other people, including the network, as Cinemax has decided to give it a second season.
The show was given a 10-episode order and is set to air next year. Filming will begin in South Africa in early 2012.
Season 1 stars Sullivan Stapleton and Philip Winchester, Amanda Mealing, Eva Birthistle, Jimi Mistry, Rhashan Stone, Michelle Lukes and Richard Armitage. It tells the story of a charismatic former U.S. Special Forces operative (Stapleton) who joins with a stealth British military unit when a resourceful international terrorist group plots a major attack.
In spite of the announcement of a second season, Cinemax is not confirming which cast members will be returning or if any new cast is joining the show. Their reason? “Plot spoilers in upcoming episodes.”
If you’re a fan of the show, guess that means you shouldn’t get too attached to any of the characters. Season one of Strike Back airs Friday nights at 10/9C on Cinemax.

As we’ve said before, for premium original content we usually look to HBO for most of our entertainment. However, Cinemax is fighting back in a big, explosive way with their new series Strike Back.
“When a resourceful international terrorist group plots an attack, a charismatic former U.S. Special Forces operative joins forces with a stealth British military unit to stop them.” That’s pretty much the way it’s gone so far. Oh, and did I mention stuff blows up pretty much non-stop so far this season? Well, it does.
This week we’ve got a preview for you of episode 3 as well as some new pics of the gang in action. The show features Sullivan Stapleton, Philip Winchester, Amanda Mealing, Eva Birthistle, Jimi Mistry, Rhashan Stone and Richard Armitage.
Check out the preview and the new pics after the break. Strike Back is on tonight at 10/9C on Cinemax.

As pay cable TV series go, it’s usually HBO that comes through with the quality. Shows such as The Sopranos, True Blood, Game of Thrones and more have consistently delivered the highest standard for your entertainment dollar.
Now HBO’s sister network, Cinemax, is ready to get into the fray with a new show of its very own. That show, a co-production between the network and the UK’s Sky, is called Strike Back and from the looks of it it promises pretty much all-action all the time.
Here’s some scoop on the show’s premise directly from Cinemax: “When a resourceful international terrorist group plots an attack, a charismatic former U.S. Special Forces operative joins forces with a stealth British military unit to stop them.” Okay, I like what you’ve done here. Go on.
The show features Sullivan Stapleton, Philip Winchester, Amanda Mealing, Eva Birthistle, Jimi Mistry, Rhashan Stone and Richard Armitage. Click through to check out the video. We’ve also included a few extra ones like the show’s trailer and a “meet the guys” video for you too. Enjoy.
Strike Back premieres tonight at 10/9C on Cinemax.

Seeking to change its reputation as HBO’s red-headed stepchild where softcore movies go to die, Cinemax is getting into the original programming biz in a big way. After announcing a 10-part action series called Strike Back last month, the pay cable network has now made a deal for a new TV series based on Luc Besson’s Transporter movies.
The channel has committed to 12 episodes of the action drama, produced by French company Atlantique and executive produced by Besson. Much like the films, the Transporter TV series will center on professional transporter Frank Martin, played in the movies by Jason Statham.
Operating in a seedy underworld of dangerous criminals and desperate players, Martin can always be counted on to get the job done — discreetly. He has three rules: Never change the deal, no names and never open the package.
The Transporter films were fun and Statham really made the character his own. Plus, he does know how to kick some serious ass. It remains to be seen who will take on the role in the series but rest assured, whoever it is has some big shoes (and a big car) to fill.
