As if you needed any more reason to see Sharktopus on Blu-Ray and DVD, who doesn’t love when the master of schlocky creature cinema has as much involvement as possible. Not only did both Roger and wife Julie Corman produce the film, but Roger himself gets the illustrious part of “beach bum” in the film.
For those who were under a non-geeky rock last year when the film debuted, here’s the synopsis:
An eight-tentacled nightmare hybrid of shark and octopus, “S-11” was created by genetic scientist Nathan Sands (Eric Roberts) as the U.S. Navy’s next super-weapon. But when its control implants are damaged during a training experiment off the Mexican coast, the beast escapes to Puerto Vallarta to sample the local fare — bikini babes, jet-skiers, and spring-breakers. With the ocean terror now out of control and seemingly invincible, a ragtag group – comprised of a hotshot mercenary, an investigative reporter, and Sand’s biomechanical engineer daughter – have come together to stop the unholy beast from turning a seaside tourist resort into the ultimate human buffet.
In this clip we have for you, we get to see Corman as the forementioned beach bum, and also get a sneak listen at the commentary recorded by both Julie and Roger.
Catch Sharktopus on DVD and Blu-Ray on March 15th.

Dear 24:
When we first met in 2001, you were perfect for me. You were exciting, and dangerous, and knew how to show a lady a good time. But lately, the relationship has lost its luster. I know that this is the natural progression of any relationship, you can’t possibly keep up that same level of intrigue for all these years. After the seven year itch, I settled into a comfort with your familiarity. I looked forward to spending time with you every Monday night.
But you just had to go and ruin things with all these other women. Rene and Dana ring a bell? Heck, I’ve even got a bone to pick with Chloe this season. I can’t deal with all these other women, and here is why I quit you, mid-episode last Monday, for good. Spoilers abound, so proceed with caution.
Sad/Bad/Mad Rene. Actually I really like Rene, and I adore Annie Wersching in the role, but there are so many inconsistencies with her character this season, and her spunk has been replaced with this misguided self–loathing. Quite frankly, making Rene’s character into such a drag has really been a drag on the show.
I also can’t quite figure out the chronology of Rene’s storyline, which is really not helping the credibility of her story arc. Readers, perhaps you can enlighten me here. Weren’t we told that six years ago Rene went undercover with the Russian gang? Wouldn’t that make it pre-season 7, in which she was still in uptight prissy mode? Since President Allison Taylor is still in office, I am assuming this season did not skip forward 10 years because of Presidential term limits.

Like many major events in life, Comic-Con in San Diego is always a mixture of highs and lows. On the one had you’re able to join hundreds of thousands of your fellow fans who love movies, TV, comics, games and all things geek and enjoy a hugely diverse amount of screenings, panels, booths, signings and a whole host of information. It truly is a unique four days that you can’t really experience anywhere else.
That’s also a bit of the downside as well. With all the notoriety, exposure and success come crowds, problems and a bit of misery. Before I continue I should interject that I’ve been coming to Comic-Con for almost twenty years. I only missed it a few times during that stretch and each year, I watched the Con get bigger and more popular.
At first, I was thrilled that an event that began for me in a hotel in downtown San Diego was starting to be known around the world as an international symbol of America’s great products and a showcase for those products providing a once a year kind of experience. But in recent years, I’m starting to wonder what Con I’m exactly at and marvel at how its changed so drastically.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of movies, TV, games and comics. Plus, I’m a self-professed geek. However, as I have at the end of other Cons past, I’m really starting to think Comic-Con has simply gotten too big and features far too much stuff under one roof. When it is nearly impossible to walk the main floor and you can’t stop and lok at any booths because of the crush of the crowd, something is wrong.
