What can you say about Gareth Evans’ The Raid 2, the sequel to one of the greatest martial arts action films ever made? Well, knowing the original as we do, this sequel better be pretty damn good if it’s going to have any chance of even coming close to the original.
Fortunately, at least based on this new trailer, The Raid 2 looks like it just might be in the running for “Greatest sequel ever.”
Here’s more about the movie:
He thought it was over. After fighting his way out of a building filled with gangsters and madmen – a fight that left the bodies of police and gangsters alike piled in the halls – rookie Jakarta cop Rama thought it was done and he could resume a normal life. He couldn’t have been more wrong.
Formidable though they may have been, Rama’s opponents in that fateful building were nothing more than small fish swimming in a pond much larger than he ever dreamed possible. And his triumph over the small fry has attracted the attention of the predators farther up the food chain. His family at risk, Rama has only one choice to protect his infant son and wife: He must go undercover to enter the criminal underworld himself and climb through the hierarchy of competing forces until it leads him to the corrupt politicians and police pulling the strings at the top of the heap.

If you haven’t seen director Gareth Evans’ The Raid: Redeption, you’re really missing something. It’s an amazing action film full of so many martial arts fights your head will spin.
Yes, it’s that good. And now there’s a sequel, which looks to push things to an even higher level.
The first trailer for that sequel, called The Raid 2: Berandal, has arrived and without wasting too much time we can safely say we were hooked from the first few seconds. Can’t wait to see the rest of this one.
Check out the trailer after the break. Look for The Raid 2: Berandal to hit theaters in 2014.

When you’re a successful actor looking for the next challenge, that next challenge is often to direct a movie. Add Keanu Reeves to that list of actors.
His first time in the big chair is a martial arts film called Man of Tai Chi. In it Reeves plays the owner of a Beijing underground fight club who recruits a skilled tai chi practitioner (Tiger Hu Chen) to battle on his deadly martial arts circuit.
There’s a new international trailer for Man of Tai Chi out today and in it you can get a look at Reeves, Tiger and all the action. As the star fighter of the movie was also Reeves’ martial arts trainer and stunt double from The Matrix series, we expect some pretty great fights from this one.
We hope Keanu’s direction will rise to the occasion too. Look for Man of Tai Chi to arrive in theaters later this year.
The trailer is after the break.

Leave it to folks from Indonesia to put together one of the best action trailers we’ve seen so far this year. That’s exactly what we get with the red band trailer for The Raid, a new action flick from Welsh director Gareth Evans.
The premise is pretty simple, but when it comes to a “nonstop thrill ride” like this one you only need the visuals to get you where you’re going. For those who still need more, here’s the synopsis.
Deep in the heart of Jakarta’s slums lies an impenetrable safe house for the world’s most dangerous killers and gangsters. Until now, the run-down apartment block has been considered untouchable to even the bravest of police. Cloaked under the cover of pre-dawn darkness and silence, an elite swat team is tasked with raiding the safe house in order to take down the notorious drug lord that runs it.
But when a chance encounter with a spotter blows their cover and news of their assault reaches the drug lord, the building’s lights are cut and all the exits blocked. Stranded on the sixth floor with no way out, the unit must fight their way through the city’s worst to survive their mission.
The film stars up-and-coming young Indonesian martial arts star Iko Uwais and should hit US theaters later this year. Check out the action-packed trailer after the jump.
