Before I go any further I need to disclose that I’m not a fan of Sony or its products. However, I do currently own a PS3, which I use primarily to watch Blu-ray movies. For gaming, I’m pretty much on the XBox 360 or the iPad 3.
My distaste for Sony has been a long time coming through a series of sub-par products and culminating in a very expensive XBR TV that failed just after the warranty expired and would have cost almost as much to fix as to repair. My love for Sony died that day.
This new development, highlighted over at BGR, seems destined to do little, if anything to change my opinion. According to the site, Sony plans on releasing televisions with 4K resolution.
They also plan on having the PS 4 support 4K resolution. My reaction? Who cares? I can’t even get my local cable or satellite provider to send full 1080P content to my exceptionally awesome Panasonic plasma TV let alone have worry about 4K resolution programming. Good luck seeing that in the next few years.
There’s also very few games that take advantage of 1080P on the PS3 so again, I ask, why do we need 4K? I feel the same way about 3D. Nobody really needs that at home either. I expect 4K to go the way of other failed Sony products like Betamax, UMD and the MiniDisc.
Pass.

Enjoy a game where your objective is to eliminate as many people as possible but do it in stealthy and mysterious ways? We do too.
Of course, the king of games that fits that mold is the Assassin’s Creed line from Ubisoft. Assassin’s Creed III is on its way and to help get you ready, Ubisoft has released a trailer for the game that gives us, among other things, a look at the gamplay.
In case you’re not familiar with the game, it takes place during the American Revolution and features a new protagonist named Connor Kenway. It will also, according to Ubisoft, be bigger than any of its previous installments.
The game is set to come out for PS 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, Mac OS X and Windows. Look for it to arrive on October 30th.
In the meantime, check the trailer after the break.

We’ve covered the events leading up to today and now we’re happy to report that Activision and Radical Entertainment’s Prototype 2 is now available. That’s right, the sequel to the very successful 3rd person sci-fi action game Prototype can now be had in stores for XBox 360 and PS3.
The sequel, set 14 months after the events of the first game, follows all-new protagonist Sgt. James Heller as he sets out to exact revenge against the man he holds responsible for the loss of his loved ones and the world as he once knew it: Alex Mercer.
“April 24th has been a long time coming and we wouldn’t have been able to do it without the support of our unbelievably loyal fans,” said Ken Rosman, Studio Head, Radical Entertainment. “All of us here at Radical are extremely proud of what we’ve created with PROTOTYPE 2 and we hope you all get as much enjoyment from playing it as we had making it…I’ll see you on the RADNET leaderboards — Gamertag/PSN username: SuperSangria.”
Prototype 2 is available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 system and Windows PC. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 system RADNET Editions of the game are available now for $59.99. The Blackwatch Collector’s Edition of Prototype 2 is available for $79.99.
We’ve got trailers for both editions after the jump. Enjoy!

After years of speculation, delays and a feeling it was really never going to happen at all, we’ve finally got a firm belief that Duke Nukem Forever is actually going to come out. How do we know?
Well, we’ve got a launch trailer for the game to share with you today. Sure, it’s only taken about 14 years (the game was first in development in 1997) to get to his point, but who’s counting? Having a launch trailer has got to be a pretty good indicator, right?
In case you’re not familiar with Duke Nukem Forever, it’s the sequel to Duke Nukem 3D, which launched in 1996, and continues the story of badass Duke Nukem as he winds his way through a world infested with zombies, aliens and scantily clad women. In this new game the aliens have returned and are stealing earth’s women. Of course, Duke isn’t having any and takes matters into his own hands.
Check out the trailer after the jump. By clicking through you certify you are 18 years of age or older.
Duke Nukem Forever drops on June 14th for XBox 360, PS3 and PC.
