Obviously, we’re big fans of Battlestar Galactica around here. It was a great show that, at least in our opinion, went away too soon. We’re also fans of the pioneering band The Beastie Boys and have always thought these two things should come together somehow and if they did, the results would be awesome.
Well, our wish has been granted because an enterprising person out there in the world (aka YouTube user katamaran78) has decided that it should be so and has created a cool video combining BSG with The Beastie Boys mega hit “Sabotage.” The result is very cool and very entertaining and in every way as awesome as we thought it would be.
Sadly, as good as the video is, it does remind us once again how much we miss BSG. Fortunately, we’ve always got Caprica to dull the pain. Check out the video after the jump.

With many of the female Battlestar Galactica alumni like Katee Sackhoff, Grace Park and Tricia Helfer making deals to appear in other tv series, it was only a matter of time before more of the men did as well. Today, Syfy announced that James Callis, perhaps best known as Dr. Gaius Baltar on BSG, has joined the cast of Syfy’s original series Eureka.
On the show, Callis will play Dr. Grant, a scientist and former resident of Eureka whose unexpected return is cause for serious alarm. Plus, his romantic romantic interest in Allison Blake (Salli Richardson-Whitfield) also causes significant friction with Sherriff Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson).
This is great news for fans of Callis and BSG. Seeing some of your favorite actors from the show get new roles on good shows is always a welcome development. Now if we can just get that sitcom starring Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnel off the ground we’ll really be set.
Production on season 4 of Eureka begins March 18th with all new episodes beginning to air on Syfy on July 9.

Former Battlestar Galactica cast members keep getting more work, especially the really great looking ones (who also have some acting talent). Katee Sackhoff is currently on 24 and made a lasting impression during an appearance on The Big Bang Theory. Tricia Helfer has made appearances on Burn Notice, Human Target and will be a regular on the new TNT series Dark Blue.
And now, according to the Hollywood Reporter, her cylon pal Grace Park has picked up a new TV role as well. Park will join the reboot of CBS’ Hawaii Five-O and play Kona Kalakaua, the niece of squad member Chin Ho Kelly, which will be played by Lost’s Daniel Dae Kim.
She’s a beautiful and smart champion surfer who is about to graduate from the police academy when McGarrett recruits her to join his team. Of course, as we already told you, McGarrett will be played in the reboot by Moonlight’s Alex O’Laughlin. Plus, super writer/producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are in charge of the show.
However, with Park now involved, I’ve got a real reason to watch this show. And no, not just for the eye candy. . . although that doesn’t hurt.

Among its many virtues (and believe me, there were many) Battlestar Galactica had a terrific bunch of actors in it. Because of their high quality, its should really be no surprise that many of them, including Katee Sackhoff and Tricia Helfer to name a few, have gone on to do more work in TV and look to have long careers ahead of them. To that list we can add one more name: Michael Trucco.
Trucco, along with How I Met Your Mother co-star Virginia Williams, are set to star opposite Sarah Shahi (last seen on of one of my favorite recent shows Life) in the upcoming USA drama pilot Facing Kate. The show, in case you’re not familiar, concerns a divorced San Francisco woman (Shahi) who leaves her job as a lawyer to become a mediator following the death of her father, who headed a law firm.
Trucco will play Kate’s ex-husband, who’s also an attorney, a charmer, and who, surprise surprise, still has feelings for her. Williams will play Kate’s “obsessive and controlling younger stepmother who is determined to keep her husband’s firm.” Could be interesting. And really, who doesn’t want to see Anders in more shows? I know I do. He’s cool.

As you probably know, the new Battlestar Galactica: The Plan movie dropped on DVD yesterday. Its a pretty good bit of entertainment (with just a couple issues) but all in all, its worth your time and money. Plus, according to Edward James Olmos, if this movie does well, we may end up with some more movies based on this franchise — which is a good thing.
So, to help those of you still on the fence about purchasing the movie on DVD or Blu-ray, we’re bringing you a lot of clips and other bits from it to hopefully help you make the right decision. These clips show a whole bunch of action from the movie itself as well as some interviews and behind the scenes info as well.
There’s quite a few of them so sit back, relax and take a few minutes to expolore the world of BSG: The Plan. Then, to help support the show and so we can have more BSG movies and so Caprica will hopefully last several years, head over to Amazon or your favorite store and get the movie for yourself.
Oh, just so we’re clear, we don’t get anything from anyone for saying this. We’re just a bunch of fans who want this franchise to continue. Ok, enough of that, enjoy the videos after the jump and then go out and support The Plan.

Of all the new releases, we’re particularly interested in the Blu-ray versions of movies and TV shows such as Battlestar Galactica: The Plan, Night of the Creeps, the original Stargate, The Sam Fuller Collection, Orphan and the complete The Prisoner series starring and created by Patrick McGoohan (pictured above).
Check them out.

Before I begin this review I have to disclose that I’m a huge fan of Ron Moore and David Eick’s re-imagined Battlestar Galactica tv series. From the first moments I saw it I was hooked and I followed the show religiously through its entire run. To this day I regard it as one of the finest shows ever to grace the small screen. In fact, I liked it so much I even got the entire series on Blu-ray. Yes, I’m the one.
So, when it came time to watch and review the latest Battlestar Galactica movie The Plan, I went into it with high expectations but was wondering how they were going to pull off this movie and tell this very well-known story from a completely different perspective: that of the Cylons. Much to my happiness, when I did watch The Plan, I was impressed with the way it turned out and how this rather complex undertaking was handled, with a few notable exceptions.
Before I get too deeply into anything negative, let’s talk a bit more about the story. The Cylons began as humanity’s robot servants. They rebelled and evolved and now they look like us. Their plan is simple: destroy the race that enslaved them. But when their attack fails to wipe out every human, the Cylons have to improvise to finish the job. The Plan tells the story of two powerful Cylon leaders, Cavil (Dean Stockwell) and Six (Tricia Helfer) and their determination to finish that job.

As you might have noticed, we are huge fans of Battlestar Galactica around here. From the original mini-series through the series itself and the Razor movie, we’ve followed the saga of the humans, the cylons and the last Battlestar: Galactica.
And now, the latest movie to feature the Battlestar story, The Plan, is going to be coming to a Blu-ray or DVD player near you at the end of the month. This story, in case you’re not familiar, unfolds through the eyes of humanity’s deadly adversaries, the Cylons. This never-before-seen perspective of the Cylon plan reunites the series’ original television cast including Edward James Olmos (who also directed), Dean Stockwell, Callum Keith Rennie, Tricia Helfer and Grace Park.
Oh, speaking of Tricia Helfer and Grace Park, they were recently selected to grace the cover of Maxim magazine, in part to commemorate the launch of this new DVD and in part because they are just really hot. Works for me.
As if that wasn’t enough, we’ve got video from the cover shoot to share with you today. Yes, I said video. . . of Tricia Helfer and Grace Park. . . in very small outfits. Interested? Of course you are. Click through to check it out, along with a gallery of stills from the shoot as well.
Don’t say we never did anything for you.
