First Pics from Tim Burton’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’

hatterIn keeping up with our nightmares for the past 30 years, new pictures have been released from Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. Since it is Burton, it’s no surprise that these images look incredibly disturbing and will probably haunt us for a time after we look away.

USA Today released the pics this morning, along with a few production stills. you can check out the images of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, and Anne Hathaway as the White Queen after the jump.

Alice marks the ninth film that both director Tim Burton and Johnny Depp have worked together, starting 30 years prior in Edward Scissorhands. Also, this is the sixth film that Burton and wife Helena Bonham Carter have worked together, starting in 2001’s Planet of the Apes. Alice in Wonderland is said to have both the whimsical feel of the original, along with the artistic and dark tone that Burton brings to every project. In other words, expect to see lots of snow.

The film, written by Disney guru Linda Woolverton (The Lion King), stars Mia Wasikowska (Defiance) at the titular character, alongside Alan Rickman, Christopher Lee, and Crispin Glover, of all people. Disney has a set release date of March 5, 2010, and will be released in both regular and 3D theaters. Click on the pics to see a bigger version.
