‘Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’ Leaked

Assasin's Creed IV - Black Flag

Earlier this month, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot revealed that there would indeed be a new Assassin’s Creed title released in fiscal 2014 (April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014) from the publishing giant. He also noted that it would be taking place in a new location with a new lead character as well.

After the ending of Assassin’s Creed III, many were speculating if this only meant Connor being replaced or if the modern day Desmond would be on the chopping block as well. Well, speculate no longer it seems.

Yesterday gaming news site Kotaku reported a leaked marketing image and the name Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. The image shows a hooded assassin character holding a sword in one hand and pistol in another while surrounded by pirates. This would fit right in with Yves’s statement about a new hero and location.

Even though there were naval battles in Assassin’s Creed III, the location where these battles are taking place is going to be the surprise we are all waiting to see. The majority of the action that most people stereotype to the pirate lifestyle happened between the waters off the coast of England and down into the Caribbean.

Even more interesting from a character perspective is that some of the most infamous pirates “stormed the seven seas” between the 1600s and early 1700s, making this the first time that the series would take place further back in time than its previous release (with Assassin’s Creed III happening in the later half of the 1700s during the Revolutionary period.

While this is only the first real glimpse we’ve gotten into Assassin’s Creed IV, stay tuned for more news as it becomes available

About John Carle

The Definition of “Geek Chic.” Comic books, sci-fi movies, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Lord of the Rings and more all rolled up in a Diesel wearing, club going socialite package. Having worked in both advertising and television, John is a lifetime writer always being a part of the creative process. John knows the television world between his experience on being involved with the production process of over two hundred episodes of prime time tv and being a self admitted media whore. Yes he has a weakness for trash tv, Michael Bay-esque action movies and the raunchy teen comedy as well. Never try to debate the Original Star Wars Trilogy versus Star Trek with him because the Holy Trilogy always comes out on top. Having partied with movie stars to Playboy centerfolds, John is somehow always able to find someone’s inner geek. The simplest rules that John lives by is to have fun and doing what makes him happy. There’s no shame in being a geek. Play Halo, read Spider-Man and proudly display the whole series of Neon Genesis: Evangelion on your DVD rack. And most importantly, make sure to read his weekly comic book pull list reviews at The Flickcast.
