Getting Your Fill of ‘The Walking Dead’ Until February

Almost a week has passed since The Walking Dead season 3 reached its midseason finale. On that night, Twitter and Facebook were filled with posts of people asking what to do with their Sunday nights now that they are forced to wait until February for the show to return. Well, there’s no reason for fans of The Walking Dead to be stuck watching the previous seasons (or doing something really crazy like going outside) as Robert Kirkman and the rest of the team behind The Walking Dead have put out tons of other materials that both set up the story and characters of the show and/or went off in their own directions.

The Walking Dead Vol. 1 – 17

It’s where it all started. Over the course of 102 issues, The Walking Dead has taken readers through a rollercoaster of emotions. They have seen Rick and his ever changing band of survivors try to deal with a world that can never go back to what it once was.

While viewers of the show may witness some similar instances, they will also see how two different stories have been able to be told about the same essential concept. One of the things that keeps drawing readers back is the idea that really no one is safe and characters that they fall in love with end up becoming the biggest tragedies.

The New ‘Man of Steel’ Trailer Is Here

So, we’ve got a new trailer for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. We’ve watched it and dissected it and the consensus around here is we like what we see.

Could this be the movie that helps us forget the distaste of Superman III and IV and Bryan Singer’s attempt? Maybe.

Either way, it’s nice to see Superman again. Check out the trailer after the break and let us know what you think.

‘Street Fighter X Mega Man’ is Coming Dec. 17th for Free

In 2010, Mega Man fans rejoiced at the announcement of Mega Man Universe which included appearences from Capcom all stars like Ryu from Street Fighter and Arthur from Ghosts ‘n Goblins… but were subsequently disappointed at its cancelation in March of 2011. Since, there has been little news on the future of Mega Man. But that didn’t mean those fans would sit back and wait. If something was going to happen, they were going to take matters into their own hands.

This past weekend, Capcom revealed the announcement trailer of Street Fighter X Mega Man. A fan made PC title, it will be distributed from Capcom’s community site www.Capcom-Unity.com. Just in time for the conclusion of Street Fighter’s 25th anniversary and the beginning of Mega Man’s, this title will be distributed for free from Capcom.

Christmas Picks: ‘I Come in Peace’

Seasons Greetings! This week’s Christmas pick is the 1990 action sci-fi classic I Come in Peace (a.k.a. Dark Angel). International action star and He-Man type (no pun intended) Dolph Lundgren stars as a Houston, Texas cop who tracks down an alien who is killing people in order to harvest the universe’s most powerful narcotic. You may be saying to yourself “That’s really the plot?” and yes, it is. The film also stars Brian Benben (from the HBO classic comedy series Dream On), Betsy Brantley, Matthias Hues, and Jay Bilas.

Jack Caine (Lundgren) is a cop who disregards proper procedure in order to get the job done. While on a routine drug bust to catch a syndicate of yuppie criminals known as the White Boys, Caine’s partner is killed when he is discovered as a cop while trying to entrap them.

New ‘Officer Down’ Trailer Looks Interesting

We like cop movies and this new one, called Officer Down, looks pretty interesting. It’s got a great cast, including Stephen Dorff, James Woods, David Boreanaz and Walton Goggins, and from the trailer could be quite good.

Of course, you can judge for yourself. Check out the trailer after the break.

Movie Review: ‘Playing for Keeps’

About halfway through Playing for Keeps, I noticed that I hadn’t laughed yet but so far had found it pretty watchable. Having Uma Thurman parade around in her frillies certainly doesn’t hurt, and added to that are the ever-delightful wiles of Judy Greer, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Jessica Biel. The movie treats them as basically eye-candy (as well as Gerard Butler), so why can’t I?

Butler plays George, a former soccer superstar recently relocated to Virginia to reclaim his wife Stacie (Biel) and, on the side, reconnect with his son. He spends his mornings filming demo tapes for a shot as an ESPN sportscaster; his afternoons watching his son’s little-league soccer practices; and, later, his nights bedding the many soccer moms.

One day he decides to take over for the apathetic little-league coach, earning the respect of Stacie and the adoration of his son and the previously mentioned soccer moms. He also makes the acquaintance of Carl (Dennis Quaid), a successful businessman and husband of the lovestruck Patti (Thurman) who has an eerie and obnoxious habit of back-slapping like a yokel who’s just told a joke. Anyway, Carl bribes George to put his son in the goalie spot and get his daughter to screech the national anthem before each game.

Latest ‘Hobbit’ Featurette Is Long, But Not as Long as the Movie

While many may be excited for this, some of us are not as much as we thought we would be. From all accounts, The Hobbit is good, but not great.

Still, it will be fun to go back to Peter Jackson’s version of Middle Earth for a few hours. And then a few more hours. And then, a few more.

Why was this turned into a trilogy again? Oh yeah, because they can. And also, for the money.

Enjoy this latest featurette from the first filme after the break. Look for the first installment of The Hobbit to arrive next week.
