Six New Clips from ‘Avatar’

avatar-poster-210x300With critics and other people around the Internets finally having a chance to see James Cameron’s upcoming Avatar this week, more footage is pooping up online as well. Case in point is these six clips from the film that are now online, as discovered by our pals at Coming Soon.

The six clips give you a pretty good idea about how the film begins and what happens during the first 30 or so minutes. In them you see how Sam Worthington’s character, Jake, comes to planet Pandora, meets the human military and scientific personnel stationed there, gets his Avatar body and his mission and then heads out into the wilderness to accomplish that mission.

If you like to go into a movie like this without having much knowledge of it, these clips won’t help you accomplish that. If you do like to know something about a film before seeing it, go ahead and click on the links after the jump to watch these six clips and it will be “mission accomplished.” Sadly, we can’t embed them for you here so you will have to click through to watch them at YouTube.

Oh, one more thing. If you do want to watch these, I suggest you hurry before they are all gone — as sometimes happens with “leaks” like this. Avatar opens December 18.

Halo Goes LEGO In ‘Battle of the Brick: Built for Combat’

Picture 2It’s no secret that we all get giddy for LEGOS around the Flickcast office. Whether it’s playing Lego Batman in our spare time, reviewing Lego Rock Band for the site or watching “8-Bit Trip” for Fan Film Fridays, Legos hold a special place in our hearts. It’s also no secret that we love ourselves some video games here and it is impossible to say you love video games if you don’t love Halo.

Now, six years in the making comes a trailer combining two things we love the most. No, Traveller’s Tales and Bungie are not pairing up to release Lego Halo for the XBox 360 but we are getting the next best thing. Using the magic of stop motion animation, a lot of free time and a passion for the two properties, Alex Kobbs has created a twenty-five minute long homage to his two most beloved properties with “Battle of the Brick: Built for Combat”.

IMDb Finally Releases App For iPhone and iPod Touch

MV5BMTgyNDkzMzA1NV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMzcxODQwMw@@._V1_iPhone and iPod Touch users rejoice! Are you tired of cursing the programming gods because you have to use clunky Safari in order to look up what ever happened to Jennifer Grey or remember the name of your favorite Sylvester Stallone movie? Well, the smart cats over at the Internet Movie Database (IMDb to us locals) finally decided to put their heads together and come up with a coherent, iPhone friendly app for browsing their site.

No longer do we have to backdoor through Wikipanion or Movies App. Instead, the IMDb app is slick, and one could even say that it’s easier to navigate than the site itself. Nothing is watered down either. Users get the same access in the app as they would on the regular website, including:

• Over 1.5 million movie and TV titles
•  Over 3.2 million celebrities
•  US movie showtimes
•  Trailers
•  Photos
•  US TV listings
•  Top ranked movies (MOVIEmeter)
•  Top ranked celebrities (STARmeter)
•  Celebrity birthdays
•  US Box Office results
•  Movies coming soon
•  Top 250 rated films of all time

Best of all is that the app comes 100% free (which makes sense, considering that the site itself is free). IMDb is currently available in the iTunes App Store, so go grab it now, and be grateful that we live in an age of such jaw-dropping technology.

First Poster, Image And Story Info For ‘Tron Legacy’

AW_Title w-Disney_wGreetings programs. Here it is, the first poster, image and synopsis for Disney’s long-awaited Tron sequel, entitled Tron Legacy. We’ve been bringing info about this movie since way back in July during Comic-Con in San Diego. Now, we’ve got the first official poster art to share, and it looks pretty awesome.

In addition to the poster, we’ve got the first official image from the film and the new synopsis just released by Disney. I won’t keep you in suspense any longer, here’s all the scoop on the film’s story:

Tron Legacy is 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (GARRETT HEDLUND), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (JEFF BRIDGES), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the digital world of Tron where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant Quorra (OLIVIA WILDE), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey of escape across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

Six Minute ‘Chuck’ Season Three ‘Super Preview’

chuck_s3Chuck is just one of those shows I liked pretty much as soon as I started watching it. The awesome combo of action, comedy, geekery and beautiful women who also kick ass turns into a fun series that delivers episode after episode. Of course, I’m thrilled the show has found a new lease on life and will be back on the air for a third season and will be getting even more episodes than originally thought. That’s all good news.

Plus, its great to see how the producers have evolved the show and the main characters into different people over the last couple seasons. Now, with Chuck about to start on season three, we’ve been bringing you some info about the new season and more about how the situations and characters have changed and, in some ways, stayed the same.

This time, we’ve got a six minute “super preview’ for the show, courtesy of our friends at NBC, complete with cast interviews and other behind-the-scenes action. You don’t want to miss this so be sure and click through to watch the video.

Chuck returns for a two hour season premiere on January 10.

First Trailer For ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’

SorcerersApprenticeWhile most fans of classic cartoons think of Mickey Mouse and a bunch of dancing brooms when we hear “Sorcerer’s Apprentice”, it’s also the name of an upcoming Jon Turteltaub film based on the cartoon, starring Nic Cage.

The original cartoon is about Mickey Mouse, an apprentice to a great Sorcerer, who is meant to only clean up the wizard’s lair when he is done “magicing”. When left alone, Mickey decides to play with his own magic and have to room clean up itself. How Bruckheimer and Turteltaub were able to turn this into a 90-minute action comedy about New York City, is astounding.

The film stars Nic Cage as the Sorcerer, Jay Baruchel (Tropic Thunder) plays the reluctant apprentice, and Alfred Molina steps in as the evil sorcerer. The trailer makes the film look like a paid ad for New York City and computer rendering software, so don’t expect much.

Check out the first look after the jump, and catch Disney’s Sorcerer’s Apprentice in theaters July 16, 2010.
