Idris Elba will be returning as Heimdall in the Thor sequel. While that might seem like a bit of ‘well duh’ kind of news, it is nice to hear none the less. Considering the man is a very talented and very busy actor, whose role in Thor was pretty small, it would not have been terribly surprising if he didn’t have the time for another minor role right now.
However, Mr. Elba recently chatted with Collider who got the confirmation direct from the man himself:
Yes, I am. I’m definitely going to do my man in a suit film… I’d just like to get to know him a bit more. Who is Heimdall? He guards the gate. Okay. Is there anything else? I don’t know what is in the script because I haven’t read it yet. But, the audience has responded to Asgard and wants to know more about who lives there and what it’s about. I’m sure, if they do that, Heimdall will be featured more.
Not only is he coming back, but clearly Elba is eager to explore his character more. It would be really great if they allowed him that opportunity, especially the way the story is set up. Heimdall guards the Bifrost, the Bifrost has been destroyed.
That could make for some juicy stuff for Elba to sink his teeth into, and maybe a far more interesting way to incorporate another famous Asgardian who has a few obscure ties to Heimdall, Amora the Enchantress.

Loki, as you may know, is a character that works against Thor quite often. In fact, you might ever call him Thor’s nemesis. So naturally, the character is going to play a prominent role in the upcoming big screen adaptation of the comic.
With that film coming out soon enough, that hasn’t stopped Marvel from going ahead and making a comic devoted to the character with the upcoming mini-series Loki. From the creative team of writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and artist Sebastian Fiumara, the comic will focus on the mythic past of Asgard and the birth of Marvel’s most relentless villain.
What is the truth behind the twisted motivations of Loki? Money? Power? Revenge? Chicks? Find out everything you need to know from this comic.
Loki #1 hits store shelves on October 20. Until then, check out the preview for the comic after the jump.

One of the cool things about having a website devoted to geek favorites like movies, TV shows and comics is that we get to see new comics before they hit store shelves. This is especially cool when the new comic in question is written by one of our favorite writers.
Case in point is Marvel’s upcoming arc for Thor where Matt Fraction takes the reigns. Along with creative team members Pasqual Ferry and Matt Hollignsworth and beginning with issue number 615, we will be treated to “the dawn of a new age as Asgard is restored to its former glory and retakes its place as the Golden Realm.”
Of course, not all is well and “an ominous threat from another dimension has its sights set on Earth.” What do do? Well, as you may have already guessed, it’s “up to Thor and his godly brethren to defend the Marvel Universe from this dark, destructive force.” According to our friends at Marvel, this comic will also be a great way for new readers to get into the Thor character just in time for the big movie release.
Check out preview pages for the new comic after the jump. Thor #615 hits shelves on September 22.

Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment have finally released an official synopsis of the plot for their upcoming big screen adaptation of Thor, starring Star Trek‘s Chris Hemsworth and Star Wars‘ Natalie Portman. Along with the sysnposis, they’ve also included preliminary credits which carry the favored disclaimer “Credits Not Final.”
This is amusing considering the film is already in production and you would have to expect that those pesky contracts had already been finalized before any actors stepped in front of a camera. Anyway, no big surprises in the synopsis but we do get a few good confirmations.
Check it out after the jump, courtesy of the fine folks at Paramount and Marvel Entertainment:
