It was a bit hard to believe that a director could match, or in some ways even improve, on Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later. But that’s just what director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo did when he stepped in and took on the sequel 28 Weeks Later. The film became a huge hit and we’ve been waiting to see what he does next. Now, we know.
Fresnadillo’s second English language film is the upcoming Intruders, which stars Clive Owen. The first trailer for the film has just been released and we’ve got it for you right here.
In case you’re not familiar with the film, Intruders concerns two families, one in Spain and one in the UK, who are menaced by terrifying apparitions. In Spain, a mother tries to protect her son from a faceless stranger, while in Britain, a young girl has terrifying dreams of a demon who becomes a real danger to her and her family. Owen plays the girl’s father.
Intruders also features Daniel Bruhl, Carice Van Houten and Kerry Fox. It’s set to be released October 7th in the US.
Check the trailer after the break.

If you haven’t been watching HBO’s Game of Thrones, an adaptation of the novels by George R.R. Martin, you’re really missing out. It’s a great show full of amazing characters, action, drama, sex, violence and more all in a world that’s fully realized and seems all to real. Even with the show on hiatus until next season that hasn’t stopped the producers from adding new cast members to the show.
The latest major casting announcement is that Irish actor Liam Cunningham has been been set for the part of Davos Seaworth for the show’s second season. In case you’re not familiar with the actors’s work, check out the recent series Camelot on Starz and the Clash of the Titans remake. He was one of the many actors that was much better than Sam Worthington.
In the books, Davos is a former smuggler. He earned the nickname “The Onion Knight” after successfully getting food into Stannis Baratheon’s besieged castle during the war that put Robert Baratheon on the Iron Throne. In season two, Stannis enlists Davos to help him seize the Iron Throne from the punk King Joffrey.

Sean Bean loves him some Medieval storytelling. Of most recent history, he is attached to HBO’s Game of Thrones and now getting the lead in the gritty tale of the Bubonic Plague, Black Death, from Magnolia Pictures.
Outside of Monty Python’s Holy Grail, not many cinematic representations of the Black Plague come to mind very easily, and that’s where this film is planning on stepping in (with less British humor and more gore). Here’s the official synopsis.
The year is 1348. Europe has fallen under the shadow of the Black Death. As the plague decimates all in its path, fear and superstition are rife. In this apocalyptic environment, the church is losing its grip on the people. There are rumors of a village, hidden in marshland that the plague cannot reach. There is even talk of a necromancer who leads the village and is able to bring the dead back to life. Ulric (Sean Bean), a fearsome knight, is charged by the church to investigate these rumors.
He enlists the guidance of a novice monk, Osmund (Eddie Redmayne) to lead him and his band of mercenary soldiers to the marshland, but Osmund has other motives for leaving his monastery. Their journey to the village and events that unfold take them into the heart of darkness and to horrors that will put Osmunds faith in himself and his love for God to the ultimate test.
From what we got in the trailer, you can expect this to be a very gritty representation of the times, with plenty of guts and blood. Fun! Check out the trailer after the jump, and catch the flick in theaters on March 11th
