One thing Vin Diesel knows is how to play iconic, kick ass characters who don’t need to talk much to get their points across. They’re doers, not talkers. Perhaps his most famous character like this is Riddick.
Now, Diesel is back with a new film to continue the saga called, appropriately enough, Riddick. In it, he does kick a lot of ass and take a few names. Here’s more on the story:
The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.
The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.
There’s a new redband trailer for the film that debuted at Comic-Con in San Diego this week. Of course, we’ve got it for you here so you won’t feel left out.
Check it out after the break. Riddick arrives in theaters on September 6.

Yes, they made another Riddick movie. And yes, it looks pretty good. Yes, we’re kinda surprised too. And yes, we like Vin Diesel. Sue us.
Anyway, there’s a new trailer and poster for Riddick, the fourth film in the Chronicles of Riddick trilogy. We don’t have a lot to say about the trailer except that it showcases pretty well why this character is still popular enough to warrant a new movie.
In this one “the infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.”
Check out the new trailer and poster after the break. Look for Riddick in theaters on September 6.

Fans of Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick have wondered for awhile now if a third film was ever going to happen. Rumors about a new installment have been circulating for years, most of which never panned out. Well, at long last, a new film is in development.
Variety is reporting that Vin Diesel will reprise the title role of Riddick in a new film simply entitled Riddick:
“Plot details are being kept under wraps. But insiders say the third outing will hew closer in tone to the cult hit “Pitch Black” and will focus on the character of Riddick as opposed to the universe he inhabits…”
While the second film suffered from bad reviews it did go onto make $116 million at the box office. Personally, I enjoyed the movie and while it was not as unique as its predecessor, Pitch Black, Chronicles of Riddick was a really enjoyable action/sci-fi flick. So good in fact, I wish they would continue that story, but I’ll take whatever they give me at this point.
Riddick will be written by David Twohy who also directed the previous films. Shooting is said to be happening this year and will not impede Diesel’s other franchise, “Fast and Furious.” No release date has been set but we’ll keep you posted.
