Let’s just get this out of the way right now: We like Keanu Reeves. Sure, his acting may not always be, well, terrific, but he still manages to make it work and has been a big part of some of our favorite films of all time.
Next up for the actor is the fantasy/action film 47 Ronin, which from this new trailer, we can safely say looks pretty great. Here’s the synopsis:
After a treacherous warlord kills their master and banishes their kind, 47 leaderless samurai vow to seek vengeance and restore honor to their people. Driven from their homes and dispersed across the land, this band of Ronin must seek the help of Kai (Reeves)—a half-breed they once rejected—as they fight their way across a savage world of mythic beasts, shape-shifting witchcraft and wondrous terrors.
As this exiled, enslaved outcast becomes their most deadly weapon, he will transform into the hero who inspires this band of outnumbered rebels to seize eternity.
Check out the trailer after the break. Look for 47 Ronin this Christmas.

Yes, they made another Riddick movie. And yes, it looks pretty good. Yes, we’re kinda surprised too. And yes, we like Vin Diesel. Sue us.
Anyway, there’s a new trailer and poster for Riddick, the fourth film in the Chronicles of Riddick trilogy. We don’t have a lot to say about the trailer except that it showcases pretty well why this character is still popular enough to warrant a new movie.
In this one “the infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.
The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.”
Check out the new trailer and poster after the break. Look for Riddick in theaters on September 6.

We try not to be cynical, but sometimes it isn’t easy. It’s sad, too, because we really like Jeff Bridges and we can usually tolerate Ryan Reynolds.
Unfortunately, this trailer for Universal’s upcoming R.I.P.D. doesn’t do much to fill us with confidence. Sure, it does feature Bridges and Reynolds in a story about “two cops dispatched by the otherworldly Rest In Peace Department to protect and serve the living from souls who refuse to move peacefully to the other side.”
And yes, Bridges looks pretty cool plus we do like the comic this is adapted from. But sorry, no. It just doesn’t do that much for us. At least not yet.
Judge for yourself after the break. Look for R.I.P.D. to arrive on June 28th.

It’s a sort of sequel to 2007’s Knocked Up in the sense that it focuses on the supporting characters Debbie (director Judd Apatow’s real-life wife Leslie Mann) and Pete (Paul Rudd), both turning 40 the same week and juggling a handful of personal and financial problems.
Paul manages a near-bankrupt record label, signing such current acts as Graham Parker, while Debbie runs her own clothing store and tries to discover which of her employees — Jodi (Charlyne Yi) or Desi (Megan Fox) — has stolen $12,000. Added to that are squabbles with the kids Sadie and Charlotte (Maude and Iris Apatow) and Debbie’s absent and Pete’s beggarly fathers (John Lithgow and Albert Brooks).
There isn’t a conventional plot as much as an exploration of these two people, how they deal with things, how they show their love and appreciation for each other. Rudd and Mann have a great rapport, which I can’t do justice to by simply saying that they really feel like they’ve been married and are 40.

Okay BSG fans, today is the day. If you’ve been missing that hot Cylon vs. Man action, things are going to get a whole lot better starting right frakkin’ now.
Why? Well, because today Machinima, Inc. and Universal Cable Productions premiered the first 2 episodes of the new show Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome. And because we love you (and BSG, of course) we’ve got the first two episodes of the show right after the break.
In case you haven’t been keeping up, this new show takes place during the first Cylon war and tells the story of “gifted fighter pilot William Adama (Luke Pasqualino) who finds himself assigned to one of the most powerful battlestars in the Colonial fleet: the Galactica. Full of ambition and hungry for action, Adama quickly finds himself at odds with his co-pilot, the battle-weary officer Coker (Ben Cotton). With only 47 days left in his tour of duty, Coker desires an end to battle as much as Adama craves its onset.”
New episodes will roll out every Friday exclusively on Machinima Prime. As we said, check out the first two episodes after the break.

Sure, I like to make a buck or two as much as the next guy (or girl). But this, much like The Hobbit being split into three movies, smacks as nothing more than a cheap stunt and a grab for cash. Sorry Universal, I love you, but really?
Yes, I’m talking about the re-release of Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park in 3D. And yes, I don’t think much of this tactic. An yes, it’s kinda lame.
Still, it will be cool to see Jurassic Park on the big sheen again. And nobody does crazy, surprised googly eyes better than Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum almost manages to make me love math (almost), so there’s that. However, if there’s a non-3D screening, look for me at that one.
Look for this version of Jurassic Park to arrive in theaters on April 5, 2013. Check out the trailer (which you will just have to imagine is in 3D) after the break.

For those of you anxiously waiting for another series that takes place in the Battlestar Galactica universe (and really, who isn’t?), you’re wait appears to be coming to an end. That’s right, the much anticipated Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome series now has a premiere date.
However, before you get your hopes up too high, the show won’t actually be airing on a TV network or, actually, on TV at all. Well, not at first anyway. Confused?
This handy press release from Universal explains it all. Bottom line? You’ll be able to see the show online first and then on Syfy and then on Blu-ray, etc. So, that’s a good thing.
LOS ANGELES – November 5, 2012 – Universal Cable Productions (UCP) will launch for the first time a three-tiered windowing strategy including online, TV and home entertainment, for Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome, a spinoff of the blockbuster Battlestar Galactica series franchise. Fans will first view Blood & Chrome when it premieres exclusively on Machinima’s premium channel, Machinima Prime (YouTube.com/MachinimaPrime), beginning November 9. The initial online debut introduces the latest segment of the revered TV series franchise to a new generation of fans while also launching the multi-platform strategy.

That unfortunate loud thudding noise you just heard was John Carter‘s opening weekend. The mega budget, would be franchise starter came in at a beyond disappointing 30.6 million. Good enough for second place to last week’s winner, The Lorax.
Speaking of this week’s box office champion, The Lorax hauled in an impressive 39.1 million, representing a mild 44% drop from last week’s huge opening numbers. With a massive opening, and a mild drop, the Dr. Suess adaptation is in prime shape to be the break out hit of the spring. It really only has The Hungar Game to compete with, and that audience is similar but far from exact.
Project X held well, and preformed strongly in the wake of a solid opening weekend. This week it was announced that a sequel to the found footage party film was possibly underway, and a continued strong presence at the box office goes a long way in validating that decision.

If you like this sort of thing then you will be excited to see the first teaser for Universal’s Despicable Me 2 has arrived. The first one was fun and this looks to be more of the same.
Plus, the first one made over $525 Million globally, so you should have expected to see a sequel as soon as possible. It’s only going to take about two years. Look for Despicable Me 2 to hit theaters on July 3, 2013.
Yeah, that’s more than a year away but things tend to get started earlier in the process these days to help build that important “brand awareness.” Although, with all that money in the bank from the first movie, the awareness is already pretty high.
Still, you can never be too careful these days. Enjoy.

I can hear the pitch meeting now. It probably went a little something like this: Peter Berg: “Transformers made a crapload of money, right? Well, this is Transformers on the ocean. See, robots attack ships and try to sink the them.” Studio Exec: “You’re a genius. Here’s a bag of money.”
I don’t know if Battlship will be good or not (probably not) or if Peter Berg is really a genius (I’m guessing no) but I can guarantee the movie will be busy and extremely loud. To prove that fact, please take a look at the new trailer just released today. We have it for you after the break.
In it you see lots of robots and whatnot trying to attack a group of ships at sea. All they wanted to do was have some simple war games and now these damn underseas robots have made this shit get real — or something like that. Does the story really matter? Not much as long as stuff explodes convincingly. Hint: it mostly does.
Peter Berg “directs” a cast of pretty people like Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker, Alexander Skarsgård, Rihanna and the always cool Liam Neeson (obviously doing this one for the money).
As the trailer says “The battle for Earth begins at sea” on May 18, 2012. Check it out after the break.

Most of the fanboys and fangirls will get plenty of Kristen Stewart next week with the first half of Twilight: Breaking Dawn, but for those who want to see her in less of a”damsel in distress” capacity and more of a strong heroine type, you’ve got the upcoming film Snow White and the Huntsman.
The film is going to highlight a bit more of a mythical take on the classic Snow White fairytale, which will be nice, seeing as how this is one of three Snow White incarnations we’re getting now, including ABC’s Once Upon a Time series and Relativity Media’s Mirror Mirror.
So you’re caught up to speed on this prett-people-filled flick, here’s the synopsis.
In the epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Charlize Theron) out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) dispatched to kill her.
You can see this trailer embiggened this weekend as it’s attached to reels of Immortals, or just catch it after the jump. Snow White and the Huntsman is set to hit theaters June 1st.

Say what you will about Mark Wahlberg but his movies are often entertaining and he does know his way around an action sequence. Case in point is his latest upcoming film Contraband.
In the action thriller, which is based on the 2008 Icelandic film Reykjavic-Rotterdam, Wahlberg plays a security guard trying to go straight who must return to his old life of high-stakes smuggling to settle a family member’s debt with a ruthless former boss. Naturally, things don’t go exactly as planned and, you can bet, stuff ends up blowing up.
Starring with Wahlberg are Giovanni Ribisi, Kate Beckinsale, Lukas Haas and Ben Foster. Check out the trailer after the jump.
Look for Contraband to hit theaters early next year.
