After a weekend like this one, it goes to show that American audiences are still very much into the combat of war, soldiers in action lifestyle, as the real life battle movie Act of Valor made it to the #1 spot with $24 Million for the weekend.
With a production budget of only $12 Million, this is pretty impressive. Also impressive, the fact that Valor managed to nearly double Tyler Perry’s new film Good Deeds, which normally pull in pretty big numbers. Deeds only managed to make $16 Million for the weekend.
Also hitting this weekend, David Wain and Ken Marino’s comedy follow-up to Role Models, Wanderlust, had a pretty lame opening weekend with only $6.6 Million in over 2,000 screens. Is it the Jennifer Aniston curse? Maybe.

I’m not sure if the world needed a movie to put those damn hippies in their place, or needed to introduce us to the culture of nude wine-making, or why the name is Wanderlust when the characters stay in one place, but no matter.
Paul Rudd plays George, a 30/40-something someone (this is where I’d mention his job, but it’s never made clear), and his wife Linda (Jennifer Aniston), another 30/40 with a sordid and varied resume; her latest occupation is hocking a documentary she made about penguins with testicular cancer to HBO. They usefully inform her that it could use more sex, violence, and vampires.
George and Linda have recently purchased an expensive and tiny apartment in Manhattan, only for George to lose his job and Linda to, predictably, get tossed out of HBO for her lousy doc. So, unemployed and destitute in New York, they high-tail it to Georgia to stay with George’s brother Rick (Ken Marino). On the way, they stop overnight at Elysium Fields, an ostensible bed and breakfast, but really a hippie commune run by well-aged toker Carvin (Alan Alda), and featuring nudist wine-maker Wayne (Joe Lo Truglio), spacey moonchild Kathy (Kerri Kenney-Silver), eye candy Eva (Malin Akerman) and all-around douche Seth (Justin Theroux).

Good news everyone. Well, good news for those of you who are fans of Children’s Hospital. Good, I see some hands there.
As you can probably discern from the title of this post, Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim has decided to renew Rob Corddry’s comedy series Childrens Hospital for a fourth season. Thr show will get a 14-episode order for that new season.
This is good news, at least to us, as we’re big fans of the show. It’s been steadily funny this entire season so far and, according to reports, is doing well in the ratings.
I guess that’s one of the reasons Cartoon Network decided to bring it back for another season. Smart of them, I say. Production will begin later this year for a 2012 premiere.
In addition to Corddry, the series co-stars Malin Akerman, Lake Bell, Erinn Hayes, Rob Huebel, Ken Marino, Megan Mullally and Henry Winkler. It airs Thursday nights at midnight on Cartoon Network.

Back at San Diego Comic-Con, we got the opportunity to sit down with most of the cast from Adult Swim’s newest addition to their late night lineup, in Rob Corddry’s Childrens Hospital.
While we got to speak with most of the people from the talent side of CH, we didn’t get to hear from the producers who were behind the process that brought this killer show to Cartoon Network and Adult Swim.
At New York Comic-Con, we got the chance to sit down with executive producer Jon Stern and he gave us the inside scoop on how exactly the show came to be the fantastic televised sitcom that it has become today.
Check out the full interview after the jump!

It’s Children’s Hospital week here at The Flickcast! Monday, we brought you an exclusive one on one with series star Ken Marino, and yesterday Paul Scheer gave us some info on the upcoming series that starts this Sunday on Adult Swim.
Today, it’s a little bit different, and a lot prettier, as we discuss the upcoming story arcs with series regular Lake Bell. Many know Lake from her work on Boston Legal or even her roles in 2008’s What Happens In Vegas or Over Her Dead Body.
Now Lake can be seen week-to-week on Adult Swim’s Children’s Hospital as well as the HBO series How To Make It In America. Many fans of genre television may even remember Lake from her leading role on ABC’s Surface.
Check out our full interview with her after the jump, and be sure to catch the second season premiere of Children’s Hospital this Sunday, August 22, at 10:30PM, only on Adult Swim.

Last night, a brand new season of Adult Swim’s new irreverent hospital drama/comedy Children’s Hospital premiered, and we’re so excited for the new season, that we’re bringing you an ENTIRE WEEK of exclusive interviews with the show’s cast and creators.
Up first is star Ken Marino, who plays Dr. Glenn Richie on the show. Many fans of comedy know Marino from his start as an original cast member of MTV’s The State. Marino went on to do some other great comedies such as Party Down and The 10. He even wrote 2008’s stand out comedy Role Models starring Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott.
Ken plays his role as Dr. Richie a little bit like his character in The 10: very loose and very Jewish. We got the chance to talk with Marino about his character, the ill-fated Party Down and the possibility of a State Reunion.
Check out the full interview after the jump, and be sure to keep it here all week, as we celebrate the return of Children’s Hospital on Adult Swim.

According to Variety, Starz has decided to renew one of Matt Raub’s favorite shows, and his pick from last week, Party Down. Even though its posted rather unimpressive ratings for its first season, the Rob Thomas created show will still get another chance to improve those numbers. All of the cast including Ken Marino, Adam Scott (who will now also serve as a producer), Martin Starr, Ryan Hansen and Lizzy Caplan return for season two with the possible exception of Jane Lynch, who’s currently comitted to Fox’s new series Glee.
In case you’re not familiar with Party Down, the show, Exec. Produced by Thomas, John Enbom, Dan Etheridge and Paul Rudd, centers on wannabe Hollywood players making ends meet by working for a catering company. The show airs its season one finale on Friday and according to the article, Starz wanted to send a message by renewing the show before its first season wrapped.
“This is an indication of how strongly we see the show,” said Starz programming exec veep Stephan Shelanski. “It’s something we’re really proud of.” Excellent. We like it when good shows get a chance to grow an audience. Nice job Starz.
