The Final ‘Pacific Rim’ Trailer Is Here

PACIFIC RIM

Once more, friends, we enter the world of Pacific Rim and giant monsters trying to destroy humanity. Fortunately, there’s a chance for all of us in the form of our own giant creations: the Jaeger robots.

In this latest trailer for Guillermo Del Toro’s Pacific Rim, Idris Elba‘s Stacker Pentecost attempts to enlist Charlie Hunnam’s washed-up pilot Raleigh Becket to help save the human race. Isn’t that always the way? Only the washed-up can save us.

In the movie, Becket will team with rookie Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi) to control the human-made robots as they battle the Kaiju monsters. One word to describe this trailer and upcoming movie? Epic.

Also starring in Pacific Rim are Charlie Day, Clifton Collins Jr., Ron Perlman, Robert Kazinsky and Max Martini. Look for it in theaters on July 12. Look for the trailer after the break.

‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ Vengeance DLC Launches to ‘Always Running’ Music Video

Always Running Cover Image

If you are a Call of Duty: Black Ops II player, you probably spent the better part of your day yesterday playing the new Vengeance maps that came out on XBox 360. If you’re a PlayStation 3 owner, let’s face it that you aren’t a real Black Ops II player to begin with. The XBox 360 players got to dig in to the four new multiplayer maps as well as the new Buried zombie map as well.

Instead of a standard fare trailer showing off the levels like the teaser videos have done already, the team at Treyarch worked on something a little different. In the launch trailer for the Buried zombie mode map, Treyarch paired up with Malukah who is best known for her Skyrim cover song (with over 10,000,000 YouTube hits) to create “Always Running”.

With a voice similar to that of Amy Lee from Evanessence, Malukah does a fantastic job capturing the desperation overcoming players during zombie mode. This combined with some fantastic in game close call footage gives a very different feel than a fast paced shoot ’em up that Call of Duty: Black Ops II often gives its players.

‘Free Fall’ Multiplayer Map Added as ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’ Preorder Bonus

Call of Duty Ghosts_Free Fall promo image

It is possible that Call of Duty: Ghosts may set the record for highest selling game as franchise tradition continues, especially with the game launching on more systems with the next gen coming out. Preorder numbers are already shooting through the roof with Call of Duty: Ghosts ranked first for games for the XBox One and third for the PlayStation 4 currently (since real console shooter players stick to the XBox platform).

In spite of that, Activision is announcing a preorder incentive for Call of Duty: Ghosts in the form of a bonus map called Free Fall which will dynamically change as the game progresses. Check out the full press release below as well as concept art as well. Call of Duty: Ghosts is due out this fall for the XBox One, XBox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PC and Wii U on November 5th.

Monday Freeview: ‘Marvel Heroes’ MMO for PC

Marvel Heroes MMO Cover Image

Way back in 2009, we announced that former Diablo Project Lead David Brevik would be taking the reins of the Marvel MMO from Gazillion. Now, four years later after putting in some time for this edition of the Monday Freeview, it is quite easy for us to see where his influence came in. For those who haven’t been following it or seen the fantastic advertisements on the side of the Flickcast (cheap plug), Gazillion has been working on a Marvel based MMO for quite some time. Late to the game by comparison to City of Heroes, Champions Online and DC Universe Online, there was wonder as to how the Marvel MMO would stand out amongst the pack. These other games had pretty much done the best they could with an MMO RPG style game where players were able to create their own custom heroes and then play alongside iconic NPCs.

The answer from Gazillion was to switch up the formula. Not only does Marvel Heroes let players take on the roles of various Marvel icons, it completely changes the gameplay as well. Instead of the large, persistent world that MMO players are used it, the players of Marvel Heroes are treated to a series of instanced dungeon crawls much more akin to Diablo. Like we said, David Brevik made his presence known. What this ends up doing is creating a game that could almost be described as an introduction to the Diablo playstyle.

Kickstarter Watch: ‘LFG: The Fork of Truth’ for PC, Mac and Linux

LFG The Stick of Truth Kickstarter Watch

Often, Kickstarter campaigns come from companies and properties we have never heard of and it has proven itself to be a great source for finding new IPs. But it has also been a way for creators with more established properties to help to find support from their audience in exchange for an actual product rather than just looking for donations. One of these companies is Blind Ferret which has been someone the Flickcast team has been aware of for quite some time. The team behind Looking For Group and the Gutters, we have seen both the comics as well as their yearly booth appearance at San Diego Comic Con. So when it came to our attention that they were doing a Kickstarter to help create a video game based off the LFG property, it quickly shot to the top of our radar.

With the campaign ending at Friday night of Comic Con in less than three weeks, LFG: The Fork of Truth is about a sixth of the way there for its $600K goal. This is one of the Kickstarters that needs support from its audience rather than people sitting back and assuming others will just kick in and they’ll be able to purchase it after the fact.

Check Out Hugh Jackman In The New Trailer for ‘Prisoners’

hugh-jackman-prisoners-1

There’s several things to like about the upcoming film Prisoners from director Denis Villeneuve. For one, it features a terrific ensemble cast including Hugh Jackman, Maria Bello, Terrence Howard, and Viola Davis.

Second, the director’s previous film, Incendiaries, was quite enjoyable. For more reasons, you’ll just have to check out the trailer for Prisoners that’s just come out.

In the film, two families lives are upturned when their young daughters go missing together. Yeah, that’s probably not going to end well. The movie also stars Jake Gyllenhaal as a cop trying to pick up the missing girls’ trail, Paul Dano and Melissa Leo.

Look for it to arrive in theaters on September 20. Check out the trailer (which reveals some plot elements) after the break.
