Check This Out: An New Trailer for NBC’s ‘Hannibal’

hannibal-mads-nbc

I’m just going to go ahead and say it. I’m on the fence about NBC’s upcoming series about a young Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter called, appropriately enough, Hannibal. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of the guy playing Hannibal in the show, the awesome and under-appreciated Mads Mikkelsen.

My problem is with the premise and, from what I’ve seen so far, the execution. Also, I just don’t buy the guy playing Graham, even though I’ve enjoyed Hugh Dancy in other roles. He seems out of place here

Plus, I’m not sure the world really needs a series covering this subject matter from a “regular” network that probably can’t do it justice. This really seems more like a show that belongs on FX or even HBO. But hey, who knows, I could be wrong.

You can have more to go on and judge for yourself by watching the new trailer NBC posted from the show. Be sure and check it out after the break.

Look for Hannibal to premiere on April 4th.

Samsung ‘Officially’ Announces the Galaxy S IV

samsung-galaxy-s-4-final

As expected, Samsung revealed a new flagship smartphone in its quest to beat Apple and dominate the world during a press event today. That device: the Galaxy S IV.

Based on earlier leaks and reports, the device’s specs are pretty much known. However, that doesn’t make them any less impressive. In fact, they’re quite impressive indeed.

The Galaxy S IV sports a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080p HD resolution, an Exynos 5 Octa eight-core processor in the international version and a quad-core Snapdragon chipset in the U.S. version, a 13-megapixel rear camera, up to 64GB of storage, 2GB of RAM, microSDXC support and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

It’s not all specs, though, as the new device also features some cool stuff to try and further separate it from the pack. From facial recognition for touch-free controls and adaptive sound and display functions, to new social features and a completely overhauled camera, Samsung has really gone above and beyond to make this device stand out.

Samsung’s full press release follows after the break. This really looks like a great device. Maybe it’s time to consider and Android phone and give up the iPhone? Maybe.

Apple Releases OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.3 Update

osx-10.8.3-update

One thing you can say about Apple, they seem to provide a rather steady stream of updates to their various operating systems. Today’s example is an update to OS X Mountain Lion, which brings the software to version 10.8.3.

It features a good amount of fixes, improvements, etc. including:

• The ability to redeem iTunes gift cards in the Mac App Store using the built-in camera on a Mac

• Boot Camp support for installing Windows 8 and Macs with a 3 TB hard drive

• Various fixes for issues that cause a URL to quit apps unexpectedly, that might cause Logic Pro to become unresponsive and stuttering audio on 2011 iMacs.

The update also includes Safari 6.0.3, which is nice. Although, I still prefer Chrome. But that’s a topic for another day.

The update is available via Software Update or through the Mac App Store. Here’s the full list of fixes and improvements.

More Videos and Photos of the Samsung Galaxy S IV Leak

samsung-galaxy-s4-invite

With Samsung’s press event a short time away (tonight at 7PM Eastern, to be exact), more photos and videos have come out showing the new hotness that is the Galaxy S IV. These new leaks leave little doubt as to what the new device will look like and to most of its cooler features.

The high-quality photos, curtesy of IT168, show the handset’s sleek design in sharp detail and pretty much confirm what everyone already thought it would look like. The videos also do pretty much the same and highlight several of the features of the Galaxy S IV including floating touch, a new lock screen and the devices speed at browsing the Internets.

The Samsung Galaxy S IV is expected to feature a 5-inch Super AMOLED HD display, an eight-core Exynos processor or a quad-core Snapdragon chipset depending on region, up to 64GB of storage, 2GB or RAM and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Check out the photos and the videos after the break.

First ‘Kick-Ass 2’ Red Band Trailer Arrives

Kick-Ass 2

After reading Kick-Ass 2, it was on baited breath that we waited for the Kick-Ass 2 movie trailer to come out. While no one agreed with all of the changes made to the original Kick-Ass, Matthew Vaughn did a great job working alongside the source material. How do you take something like Kick-Ass and make it more profane and obscene than having a little girl spewing explatives? Kick-Ass 2 plans on doing so with even worse language and a horde of new costumed vigilantes.

This first trailer gives a peek at Jim Carrey in action as Colonel Stars and Stripes as well as his “wonderful pet”. We also get a glimpse as Red Myst reinvents himself with a very un-PG new name. Fans of the comic will especially enjoy the fan service being played out referencing some of the comics most memorable scenes already.

Remember, since this is a Red Band trailer, discretion is advised! Check out Kick-Ass 2 after the jump.

SXSW13: Vimeo Announces ‘Vimeo On Demand’ Distribution Service

Vimeo-On-Demand

The film distribution landscape just got a bit bigger as online video service Vimeo revealed its new ‘Vimeo On Demand’ service this week at the SXSW Film + Interactive Festival. This new distribution feature will allow content creators to sell films and webisodes directly to viewers.

Creators with a Vimeo Pro account can set their own prices, streaming periods, and region parameters for content, and earn 90% of the revenue their content generates. Vimeo On Demand will be viewable across Vimeo-enabled platforms including online and mobile, tablets, and connected TVs.

Said Vimeo, via the company’s blog:

We’re creators ourselves, and we know how hard it can be to get your work out there and connect with an audience. Since we founded Vimeo in 2004, we’ve been dreaming of a world where more and more creators can support themselves with their work alone. Today we’re proud to be taking a big step in that direction, and there are many more exciting steps to come.

‘Veronica Mars’ Movie Could Be a Reality Thanks to Kickstarter

If you’re one of the many fans who were more than a bit disappointed when the CW pulled the plug on Veronica Mars, you may have something to finally be happy about. That’s right, thanks to Kickstarter, the often-discussed movie version of the show might just end up becoming a reality.

Instead of waiting for a studio or other entity to fund a movie version of the show, series creator Rob Thomas and star Kristen Bell have decided to take the matter into their own hands and ask the fans to fund the project via Kickstarter. And fund they have.

In less than twelve hours since the Kickstarter was launched, the Veronica Mars campaign had already broken the $100,000 mark. In fact, it’s already over $500,000 at this point. They’re looking to raise $2,000,000 in the next 30 days and who knows, at this rate, they might just get there.

Getting a movie made this way is pretty awesome and opens up a whole buch of possibilities for other fan-favorites being funded this way. Firefly reunion movie anyone?

So, if you want to see a Veronica Mars movie, now’s your chance to help make it a reality. For more, check out the video after the break.

UPDATE: They are now over $2,000,00 and it only took about 12 hours. Amazing.
