Jeremy Is Back: Samsung Drops Another Galaxy S4 Teaser Video

jeremy-galaxy-s4

Effective commercials, and advertising in general, is an under-appreciated artform. Often, the right advertising and marketing campaign can greatly help a new product succede.

In other cases, an ill-conceived advertising and marketing campaign can hurt, and in some cases kill, a product before it really gets going. For Samsung’s upcoming new flagship device, the Galaxy S4, we’re not sure if it’s latest teaser video campaign is one that will help, or hurt.

With the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S4 now less than two weeks away, Samsung has begun dropping video teasers for the device featuring a kid named Jeremy, who is the “secret messenger of Samsung Unpacked 2013.”

In the new teaser released today, Jeremy is back and still trying to keep his secret, in spite of the persistance of the little girl down the street. Women. Isn’t that always the way?

Check out the latest teaser video, and the first one from last week, after the break. Do these make you want the Galaxy S4 even more, or do you care?

Monday Freeview: ‘4 Pics 1 Word’ for iOS

4 Pics 1 Word Cover Image

Welcome back to the Monday Freeview where we bring you the best in free entertainment this week. In our first installment last week we hooked you up with Bombermine for the PC and Mac. This week, we’re headed to iOS for 4 Pics 1 Word.

Currently one of the top free apps in the iPhone App store, 4 Pics 1 Word is a puzzle game where the player is presented with four pictures and needs to come up with the one word that describes what they all have in common. Seems like a pretty self explanatory game, right? Well at the start, it is. When you see a picture of Juice, an Apple, a Pineapple and a Banana, the obvious answer that comes to mind is “Fruit”. But the further the player gets, the more difficult the brain teaser gets. Work Boots, two burgers, socks and two ladybugs humping each other takes a little more thought to figure out the hidden word.

Box Office Report: ‘Oz’ Opening Weekend Both Great and Powerful

BoxOfficeBanner-RecoveredSam Raimi sure knows how to make a successful crowd pleaser, his prequel to the most famous movie ever came out with the first blockbuster opening weekend of 2013. Raking in over $80 Million in its debut frame, Oz: The Great and Powerful is well on the way to becoming the first mega hit of the year.

The film didn’t quite reach Alice in Wonderland numbers, but considering the advantages that film had, and the disadvantages Oz faced, the $80 Million haul is a massive win. Expect to see a sequel get rolling very soon as Disney will try to avoid the pitfalls of franchising Alice and put the pedal to the metal on their shiny new franchise-to-be.

Coming in second place on the weekend was last weeks bomb, Jack the Giant Slayer. Jack continues to defy odds by doing  even worse than John Carter at just about every turn. Dropping over 63% from an already weak opening debut and bringing in barely over $10 Million Jack is going to struggle to make $60 Million at the end of its run. Good thing Bryan Singer  has X-Men: Days of Future Past to fall back on, because normally a flop like this is death to a big budget director.

Movie Review: ‘Dead Man Down’

dmd1

On the one hand, there’s a revenge thriller with shootouts, car chases, detective work, and a dynamite climax. On the other, there’s a woefully underwritten love story that can’t think of anything else but to have the leads stare at each other. And not the meaningful kind of staring either — Farrell spends about five-eighths of the flick with this sad/confused expression that looks like he caught his mother in bed with a clown.

Farrell plays Victor, an up-and-comer in a gang led by Alphonse (Terrence Howard). What the gang actually does is not entirely clear, but they appear to be connected to a cocaine-dealing group of British-Jamaicans, at least until Alphonse suspects them of assassinating one of his men and orders the whole lot killed. In the ensuing shoot-out, Victor is wounded, and we follow him back to his ramshackle highrise apartment, where he spends his days watching videos of his wife and kid and ogling the girl in the next building over (Noomi Rapace).

The girl, Beatrice, lives with her somewhat hard-of-hearing mother (Isabelle Huppert) and is haunted by the scars on her face left by a car accident with a drunk driver. She and Victor share pregnant waves to each other until Bea works up the courage to ask Vic out.
