Olivia Wilde, Jason Sudeikis & More Join New Comedy ‘Relanxious’

Olivia Wilde, Jason Sudeikis, Brie Larson and Fred Armisen will star in a relationship comedy that marks the directorial debut of writer Christopher Storer, Relanxious.

Other than being a fairly obnoxious combination of words, Relanxious follows Barrett, played by Wilde, an anxiety-ridden woman who meets and is smitten with George, played by Sudeikis. George is agoraphobic and so their courtship is limited to phone conversations in which they discuss the dates they would go on if their phobias didn’t stand in the way. As the fantasies develop, the two must decide if they can put aside their fears in order to find real-life romance. Larsen plays Barrett’s sister, and Armisen plays George’s friend and only contact with the outside world.

Wilde recently wrapped her work Steve Carell – Jim Carrey comedy Burt Wonderstone. Sudeikis is still appearing on Saturday Night Live and last appeared on the big screen in Horrible Bosses. Larsen will be seen in this month’s 21 Jump Street remake and Sudeikis’ fellow SNL castmember Armisen has been working on his IFC series Portlandia, which just got picked up for a third season.

The film will be produced by Daniel Dubiecki, who recently launched The Allegiance Theater, and Lorene Scafaria, writer/director of the upcoming Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. Relanxious will shoot this summer in Chicago.

‘The Gunstringer’ Gets Some DLC with ‘El Diablo’s ‘Merican Adventure’

Since our review of The Gunstringer, the TwistedPixel Studio was acquired by Microsoft. This came as no surprise since all of the games TwistedPixel released were exclusive to the XBox 360 with four XBLA titles and one retail release, that being The Gunstringer. Yesterday, Microsoft and Twisted Pixel announced a new DLC expansion

In addition to becoming available yesterday on Games on Demand for $29.99, the Kinect exclusive title will be getting a new four level chapter featuring “hang-gliding airmen, gun-toting brothel babes and angry bandits” as the king of the underworld, El Diablo goes on a search for his queen in El Diablo’s ‘Merican Adventure. Instead of reprising the role as the infamous skeletal cowboy the Gunstringer, players will don the boots of the half Satan, half Slash El Diablo marionette as he wields a half shotgun, half guitar.

“The Gunstringer was our first retail game, but it’s nice that we were able to make it available digitally as well,” says Twisted Pixel’s Michael Wilford. “Digital distribution is key to the studio’s ambitions.” Then Technical Director Frank Wilson added, “yeah, that, and we didn’t have to do anything extra to make it work. The new DLC is pretty rad though.”

El Diablo’s ‘Merican Adventure is now available on XBox Live for 240 Microsoft points. Check out the Screens and Trailer below.

History Channel Has First Foray Into Scripted Television With ‘Vikings’

The History Channel has announced that they will take their first step into original scripted television with a 10 episode drama, Vikings, which will chronicle the world of the mighty Norsemen who raided, traded and explored during medieval times.

Vikings follows the adventures of Ragnar Lothbrok, an actual historical figure, and the greatest hero of his age. The series tells the sagas of Ragnar’s band of Viking brothers and his family, as he rises to become King of the Viking tribes. As well as being a fearless warrior, Ragnar embodies the Norse traditions of devotion to the gods. According to legend he was a direct descendent of Odin, the god of war and warriors.

According to The History Channel, the series “will boast a polished, stylized look that pushes the boundaries of television drama” and will feature “imaginatively choreographed battles that emphasize individual points of view, strategies and ruses rather than mindless, graphic slaughter.”

Game Developers Quantic Dream Release An Amazing PS3 Motion Graphics Concept Video

Her name is Kara, she feels, she thinks, and she is scared.

That is basically the concept behind Quantic Dream’s recent concept video. Kara is an android being assembled and tested, something is slightly off and the rest you should watch for yourself.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Quantic Dream, they are the developers responsible for Heavy Rain, a PS3 exclusive that pushed the boundaries of the typical game experience. Unfortunately, the Kara short has nothing to do with their next title.

The video was made to showcase the power of the Quantic’s new motion capture engine running real time graphics on a PS3. However, this is such a well fleshed out idea, one that holds so much weight and emotion that it would come as no surprise if this was an early glimpse at whatever new world Quantic Dream has up their sleeve.

Be awed by the video after the jump.

This week, the envelope is once again pushed with an episode titled “Reverse Cowgirl.” Here’s an official synopsis.

One of the boys had been told time and time again about leaving the toilet seat up after he goes to the bathroom, but he didn’t listen. His actions have consequences and ultimately result in an unimaginable catastrophe.

As if that isn’t enough for you, be sure to take a look at an exclusive clip after the jump. Catch “Reverse Cowgirl” on Comedy Central this Wednesday night at 10PM.

Double Fine’s Kickstarter Fund Raises over $3 Million

Adventure games are great. Like, really great. Remember Myst? The Secret of Monkey Island? They just don’t make games like that anymore. Apparently, studios don’t think they’re in demand anymore. They’d rather produce Call of Duty 12.

Which is why Double Fine’s Tim Schafer, best known for amazing titles like Grim Fandango and Psychonauts, decided to do something about the lack of adventure games on the market lately: he started a Kickstarter project.

Kickstarter, for those of you who’ve never heard of it, is a really cool concept where fans can contribute their own cold hard cash to causes they want to see funded. In this case, Tim Schafer wanted $400,000 to create an adventure game, developed by himself and a small team over a six to eight month period.

The process of producing the game would be documented by Two Player Productions, known best for Season 1 of PATV, Penny Arcade’s inter-office television series. Minimum contributions to the project started at as little as $1, but fans who donate $15 to the project will receive a copy of the game via Steam for PC and Mac, exclusive access to the Beta on Steam, access to the video series, and access the private discussion community.
