‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’ Multiplayer Teaser Goes Online

As much as the world loves playing through the single player campaign of the Call of Duty series, no one can argue the series’ long term appeal lies in its multiplayer mode. Players can quickly find themselves spending days and days in multiplayer death-match scenarios. With each iteration of the series, the multiplayer has gotten more intense and added various new dimensions to keep it fresh. In Treyarch’s last game Call of Duty: Black Ops, they added the horde -like Zombie mode where an unending supply of Nazi zombies took it to players.

In this new teaser trailer we see that Treyarch looks to be sticking with a more Modern Warfare theme as they introduce new gadgets and weaponry to the mix. The first new tech seen in the trailer is a surveillance camera.

It looks like it will send a black and white feed of what’s going on in front of it to the upper left corner of a player’s HUD. No doubt this will lead to some great in game traps for players as they can set up cameras around their position to prepare to attack incoming forces.

Up next, crossbows. And not just regular crossbows but timed explosive mounted arrow shooting crossbows. While the crossbow is known for being a more silent but deadly weapon, the silence part goes out the window once the bomb attached to it explodes. Thankfully, the person who it blows up on won’t hear a thing as the explosion will most likely remove their ears from the rest of their explosion riddled body.

War Movie Mondays: ‘The Dogs of War’

This week’s pick pits a small group of international mercenaries sent by a British corporation to overthrow a two bit Idi Amin dictator in Sub Saharan Africa. John Irvin (Hamburger Hill, When Trumpets Fade) directs The Dogs of War (1980) which was based on the best selling novel from acclaimed author Frederick Forsyth (Day of the Jackal).

Christopher Walken stars as Jamie Shannon, an ex-soldier who hires himself out to the highest bidder whether its toppling a regime change in Central America, or putting a puppet government in power in the fictitious African country of Zangaro. Rounding out the cast is Tom Berenger (Drew Blakeley), Colin Blakely (Alan North), Paul Freeman (Derek Goodwin), Hugh Millais (Roy Endean), JoBeth Williams (Jessie Shannon), Winston Ntshona (Dr. Okoye), and Ed O’ Neill (Terry).

The film opens up in war torn Central America circa 1980 as the mercenary group is trying to make a hasty exit aboard a government plane as bullets and explosions are happening all around them. Shannon and his men push their way on board and force the plane into the air as soon as possible. Just within these few short minutes, you clearly can tell what their profession is and that they are not there working for the Peace Corp or distributing bibles for that matter. In this scene, a Central American army officer notices that one of the mercs is dead and demands that he give up his seat.

Drew (Berenger) pulls the pin out of a grenade and puts it in the palm of his dead comrade and tells the soldier “he’s alive you pimp.” Walken then barks, “he’s alive and he goes with me.” Derek (Freeman) looks towards the camera and with a knife he yells at the pilots “lets see this thing fly.” One of the best opening scenes of any action or war film ever. These are professionals you don’t want to mess with.

New Trailer: ‘DJ Hero 2’ Multiplayer Vignette

There’s no doubt that this year’s DJ Hero 2 has a strong focus on the multiplayer aspect. With the focus of adding a second turntable to the mix and a microphone, DJ Hero 2 is looking to define itself as the new party game. In the trailer below, you’ll get to check out the game’s six new multiplayer modes and how Jamie Jackson, creative director of the game over at Freestyle Games, says DJ Hero 2 is meant to inspire a party.

Party Play: The ideal party scenario mode. Someone puts together a set list and just hits play. The game acts as a soundtrack to the night where up to three players at once can jump in and out at a whim in one of two turntable or singing positions. There’s no failing this mode and the music keeps going whether or not someone is behind the wheels of steel.

Streak: Players are going head to head trying to build streaks of consecutive notes. Players must bank their streaks along the way to set the bar higher against their opponent. If a player misses a note, it drops them back down to zero. Players only are scored based on their highest bank.

Head to Head Star Battle: Straight up points versus points battle. Players are going against each other doing the exact same mix and a singer is being scored as well. Players will get the opportunity to screw with each other along the way using various mixing techniques as well.

Hot Fan Trailer: ‘Blackstar Warrior’

As we’ve probably said in the past we get sent a lot of videos here at The Flickcast. Many of them are, shall we say, not worthy of sharing with you. Some, however, demand attention and need to be shared. Blackstar Warrior is one of those.

The video, which comes to us from YouTube user bobbymarsh2010 via a friend, may contain characters and situations that are slightly familiar to you. In fact, this “fake” trailer has a who’s who of characters from one of the most popular movie franchises of all time: the Star Wars trilogy. You’ve hear of that, right?

It features action, romance, decent visual effects, comedy and, yes, even Darth Vader makes an appearance. Plus, Lando Calrissian is pretty much a badass. In short, this is some pretty great stuff.

Check out the Blackstar Warrior trailer after the jump.

SDCC10 Extra: PlayStation Move Hands On with ‘Sports Champions’

At Comic Con, we got to take a peek at the PlayStation Move in action. One of the showcase games we got to try was Sports Champions. Just the fact that they didn’t call it Move Sports right off the back gave us a little hope that the game wouldn’t just feel like Wii Sports 2.0. Going with the Wii started trend of having a sports game compilation paired with motion controls, Sports Champions is a collection of various non-traditional games such as Archery, Gladiator Duel, Table Tennis, Bocce, Beach Volleyball and others. Using only motion controls, players progress through challenges, unlocking harder play modes as they progress.

The first game we got to try out was Archery. Archery itself was a very cut and dry experience. Reach back with one hand, grab the arrow by pressing a button, line up the “arrow” hand with your bow hand, pull back, release button to shoot arrow. It is hard not to compare it to Wii Sports Resort as Archery is one of the games present in it as well. While we only had a short time to play with it, the aim and motion felt more precise than the WiiMotion Plus controls do. There is also something to be said for the tangible feedback that is missing from Microsoft’s Kinect. Actually holding a “bow” in your hand as opposed to dangling your hand in mid-air do feel like completely different experiences.

The Gladiator Duel was one of the shining spots of Sports Champions. Since seeing the stage demo of the Move on E3 2009’s Sony Press Conference, people have been yearning for a quality sword fighting experience on a motion control game. While Kinect looks to bring an on-rails lightsaber game and the sword fight in Wii Sports Resort has proven simple enough that my five year old cousin has mastered it by flailing his arms back and forth in a near seisure like motion, Sports Champions’ Gladiator Duel brings players an almost Soul Caliber-like fighting experience.

Tony Scott To Produce Mark Millar’s ‘Nemesis’

Coming on the heels of success from his last (and only) two film adaptations, comic writer Mark Millar is eager to bring his latest book, Nemesis, to the big screen. It seems like that plan is already in motion, as Twentieth Century and Tony Scott have acquired the rights and are looking to get Millar’s property into theaters in the near future.

The book tells a classic story with a twist: young Matt Anderson’s parents are killed and he vows to avenge their deaths by training himself and going after the man who did it. The twist? His parents were worldwide villains, and he is too. Anderson makes his way back to the states after killing the greatest cops across the world to focus on Chief Blake Morrow, the man who took down Anderson’s criminal parents.

Tony Scott has expressed interest in this being his next project, at least through his company Scott Free Productions. While the idea of Tony Scott directing a comic book adaptation gives the fanboy community the collective goosebumps, Scott may only remain attached as a producer.

Many know Millar as the mind behind other comic adaptations Wanted starring James McAvoy (now X-Men: First Class’s Professor Xavier) and Lionsgate’s recent Kick-Ass, which is already planning a sequel. Comics fans know Millars work from Superman: Red Son and plenty of issues of Marvel’s Civil War.

Interview: WWE’s Bella Twins On Their Dream Match, More

At Comic-Con, we got the chance to catch up with the Bella Twins, WWE’s first and only pair ever of twin Divas. We had the pleasure of talking to Brie back in April about her and Nikki’s experience with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and their first WrestleMania.

This time, we got not one but both of the lovely ladies to sit down and talk to us at the Con. Having lived in San Diego for some time, this was the twins’ first time attending Comic-Con so we made sure to get their thoughts on all the things they had seen. We also talked about what the twins see for themselves moving forward as the special celebrity guests have ceased on Monday Night Raw as they had been officially the assistants each week for these guests.

Brie (on the left) and Nikki (on the right) give us some insight on their dream matches moving forward as well as intentions on the Diva’s Championship. The girls discuss with us wrestling inspirations and even let us know where they’d like to see themselves at the upcoming WrestleMania.

Make sure to watch the full interview after the jump.
