‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’ Single Player Campaign Trailer Revealed

Call of Duty Ghosts Campaign Trailer Cover Image

Yesterday, we revealed the Call of Duty: Ghosts preorder bonus tied to the upcoming Marshal Mathers 2 LP from Eminem but today we have the big reveal. Yesterday, Activision graced us all with the first look at the Call of Duty: Ghosts single player campaign. While it’d be easy to go to the joke that all the meme creating trolls online made about there being such a focus on the dog in the reveal trailer, it’s hard to not take a look at this campaign trailer and not think the whole thing looks pretty bad @$$.

Honestly, if you haven’t seen the trailer yet. I don’t want to spoil it for you before you take a look at it below. It isn’t because there is some critical plot point or a trailer like you’d see for a movie where they reveal the whole thing but because there are some moments that are just damn impressive in it. And yes, you see the dogs too.

Exclusive Eminem Track ‘Survival’ Tied to ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’

Call of Duty Ghosts Logo White

Since Call of Duty: Black Ops, Eminem has found himself drawn into the Call of Duty series. As some of you may remember, our own Christ Ulrich got to see Eminem live on stage at the Activision event before E3 just a few years ago to go along with his song that was tied to the game. Three years later, Eminem has a new album coming out coincidentally on the same day that the new Call of Duty: Ghosts is releasing and that left the door for a collaboration between the two media powerhouses. Anyone who preorders Call of Duty: Ghosts from GameStop will receive a code to get Eminem’s The Marshal Mathers LP 2 at a reduced price of $8.99 along with an exclusive track as well.

In August, Eminem revealed Survival at a Call of Duty: Ghosts event and later this month (don’t worry, we will post it) there is going to be a Call of Duty: Ghosts remix trailer featuring the song. “The energy and intensity of ‘Survival’ really matches Call of Duty: Ghosts,” commented Eminem. “I’m excited to continue to be a part of the franchise.”

Comic Review: ‘DmC Devil May Cry: The Chronicles of Vergil’

Devil-May-Cry-Vergil-Chronicles

Have you ever played any of the Devil May Cry franchise? If so, then great – you might enjoy the backstory that you get out of this comic. If not, then both the plot and the structure of the comic itself will likely confuse the Devil Trigger out of you. Hang on with me here.

First, Some DmC Background:

Devil May Cry is a video game series that was initially intended to be a continuation of the Resident Evil plot line, but became its own franchise due to the focus on fast-paced, stylized combat. The game follows Dante, a “devil hunter” who is the son of the demon Sparda and the human Eva. Sparda was a powerful demon knight who served Mundus, the king of the underworld.

Mundus strove to reign over all of humankind, but Sparda chose the path of justice, defeating Mundus and sealing off the underworld. In an act of revenge, Mundus sent demons to kill Sparda’s family. Eva hid 8-year-old Dante and his twin brother, Vergil, and died at the hands of the demons. To protect his sons, Sparda wiped their memories and sent them into the human world to grow up and live “normal” lives (yeah..right).

Now that we’re all on the same page, let’s get to the pages of this comic, shall we? I’ll tell you the gist of the story, and then I’ll dish out the good and bad. DmC is Kinda Weird, and the Comic Continues the Weirdness.

What’s In Store For Fall TV Here On The Flickcast?

AHS Coven Teaser

It’s been awhile since you’ve heard from me.  There just wasn’t much summer TV that I was interested in.  And yes, I am THAT guy who has not watched any Breaking Bad.  But don’t worry, it’s on Netflix instant, so I will get to it at some point.  I mean, I only have like 7 seasons of The X-Files to go.

Over the past year, some strong personal (and I’m sure staff) favorites have been Arrow, American Horror Story, The Walking Dead, Grimm, and The Following.  And have no fear; we will be recapping all of those shows this season.  I also wanted to throw in some new shows for this fall, as there were actually 15 that piqued my interest in one way or another.

But I managed to narrow it down to 4, based on obvious time restraints, as well as what fits well for this site.  So in addition to the 5 “regulars” that I mentioned above, the 4 new fall shows that you be seeing reviewed here every week (for however many weeks they last) are: The 100 (CW), Dracula (NBC), Agents S.H.I.E.L.D. (ABC), and Sleepy Hollow (FOX).

I haven’t decided yet on ABC’s midseason debuting Resurrection.  It seems to have sort of a The 4400 vibe to it.  And the fact that Red Foreman in it is definitely a plus.  So you may be seeing reviews for that one as well.

Atari Founder Says Nintendo is on ‘Path to Irrelevance’

Nintendo Fail

In what could be considered a pretty unpopular and controversial statement founder of Atari Nolan Bushnell says that he thinks Nintendo may be shoot themselves in the foot. Freshly behind Nintendo’s recent Nintendo 2DS announcement, Bushnell spoke to the BBC during the Campus Party developer event and gave his thoughts on Nintendo’s place in the market.

Bushnell stated, “”I don’t think handheld game-only devices make sense anymore. Not when you have an iPod or an Android microtablet.

“When it comes to the console market, I think the market is truncating. Nintendo always had a soft spot for young people–they sort of did the 12-and-under pretty well, and the other guys did the 12-and-over.”

The Flickcast – Episode 218: Breaking Luthor

bryan-cranston-bad-1

This week on The Flickcast , Chris and Joe are back after some time off for the Labor Day holiday and ready to get back to all the action. This week the duo discuss some new topics, and revisit a few old ones.

Some of this episodes discussion includes Bradley Cooper in Guardians of the Galaxy, Benedict Cumberpatch in the next Star Wars trilogy, Kurt Russell in the next Fast and Furious and Bryan Cranston as, potentially, Lex Luthor. There’s also some talk about the relative merits of the Hangover franchise, the new Riddick movie, the new Westworld TV series by J.J. Abrams and a whole lot more.

This weeks picks include Joe’s pick of the movie Now You See Me with Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Jesse Eisenberg. Chris’ pick this week is the Cinemax series Strike Back, mostly because it’s a fun show and he often likes to watch things blow up (only on TV, of course).

As always, if you have comments, questions, critiques, offers of sponsorship or whatever, feel free to hit us up in the comments, on Twitter, at FacebookGoogle+ or via email.

Here’s Another Trailer for ‘Man of Tai Chi’ With Keanu Reeves

man-of-tai-chi-2

When you’re a successful actor looking for the next challenge, that next challenge is often to direct a movie. Add Keanu Reeves to that list of actors.

His first directing effort is a martial arts film called Man of Tai Chi. In it Reeves plays the owner of a Beijing underground fight club who recruits a skilled tai chi practitioner (Tiger Hu Chen) to battle on his deadly martial arts circuit.

There’s a new trailer for the film out today and in it we get a lot more of the martial arts action we should expect from a film lie this. And yes, there’s also a bit of story in there too, for those of you who like that kind of thing.

The latest trailer is after the break. The movie hits theaters on November 1.

To Maintain Authenticity, ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ to Feature Real Gang Members

gang

When one thinks about the experience of Grand Theft Auto, the word “authentic” isn’t usually what comes to mind. Everyone remembers their first time running down hordes of hookers, recreating the climax of Scarface and even using a jet pack from Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City and San Andreas respectively. But as Saints Row has come out and erred on the side of parody, Grand Theft Auto has gone towards something more grounded and realistic. With Grand Theft Auto V being the second in the series heading back to a more authentic experience, Rockstar Games actually went and got real gang members to be a part of their voice cast. That’s right. Real gang bangers.

In an interview on Chicago radio station WGN, Rockstar producer Lazlow Jones spoke about the decision and process of using real gang members. “When we record all these ambient characters that are in the world, we go towards authenticity,” Jones said. “So in the game, part of the element of the story is that there’s rival gangs.

“There’s black gangs, there’s Latino gangs, and we recruited a guy who gets gang members, like actual gang members, real gang members. I mean, El Salvadorian gang dudes with amazing tattoos and one of which literally had gotten out of prison the day before. And we brought these guys in to record the gang characters because, you know, you don’t want a goofy LA actor who went to a fancy school trying to be a hard gang member. There’s nothing worse than that.”
