Here’s a New Redband Trailer for ‘2 Guns’

2-GUNS-1

As action movies go, the upcoming 2 Guns has many of the earmarks of success. Denzel Washington, Mark Wahlberg and a lot of gunfights and explosions should make for a potent mix. Not convinced?

Well, take a look at this new trailer and maybe you will be. Here’s more about the movie itself:

For 12 months, DEA agent Robert “Bobby” Trench (Washington) and U.S. naval intelligence officer Michael “Stig” Stigman (Wahlberg) have been reluctantly attached at the hip. Working undercover as members of a narcotics syndicate, each man distrusts his partner as much as the criminals they have both been tasked to take down.

When their attempt to infiltrate a Mexican drug cartel and recover millions goes haywire, Bobby and Stig are suddenly disavowed by their respective superiors. Now that everyone wants them in jail or in the ground, the only person they can count on is the other. Unfortunately for their pursuers, when good guys spend years pretending to be bad, they pick up a few tricks along the way.

Check out said trailer after the break. 2 Guns arrives on August 2.

The Flickcast – Episode 213: There In No Justice . . . League

dark-knight-returns-1

This week on The Flickcast Chris and Joe are back for more and ready to get down and geeky. In this episode it’s pretty much all Comic-Con 2013 all the time as the boys recap the major happenings during the show.

They go way in depth and talk about all the things they loved, and not-so-loved, about the Con. These include, of course, the Superman / Batman movie announcement, Avengers 2: Age of Ultron and a whole lot more. Plus, they spend some time discussing the power of Robert Downey, Jr., the upcoming S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series, who should play Batman now that Christian Bale is supposedly done and the upcoming Simpsons / Family Guy crossover.

In addition, the boys made some picks this week including Joe’s pick of the Samsung Soundbar and Chris’ pick of the fantasy novel Magician by Raymond E. Feist.

As always, if you have comments, questions, critiques, offers of sponsorship or whatever, feel free to hit us up in the comments, on Twitter, at FacebookGoogle+ or via email.

First Clip of ‘Ender’s Game’ Mazer Rackham’s Run

Ender's Game

The first clip of director Gavin Hood’s adaptation of Ender’s Game is here and it looks pretty promising. Though not a Battle Room scene like some fans may have been hoping for, we do get Harrison Ford’s gravely voice as Colonel Hyrum Graff.

He narrates the actions of the legendary Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley) during the second invasion of the buggers. The heroic and mysterious Rackham will later become Ender’s (Asa Butterfield) mentor.

Based on the award-winning bestseller by Orson Scott Card, Ender’s Game also stars Abagail Breslin as Valentine, Ender’s sister; Hailee Steinfeld as Petra Arkanian, Ender’s friend at Battle School; and Viola Davis as Major Anderson.

The film is due in theaters November 1. Check out the video after the break.

SDCC13 Recap: Comic-Con Photo Gallery!

SDCC 2013 Cover Image

Be honest. You don’t really care about whatever I write when clicking on a photo gallery from Comic-Con in San Diego. I could write “Purple Monkey Dishwasher” repeatedly for two paragraphs and you’d skip right past to get to the pictures. But I won’t do that.

What I will do is mention that some of these early images from SDCC 2013 come from DC’s We Can Be Heroes charity auction which is still going on right now on eBay. There are still two days left to bid on some fantastic items that will benefit IRC, Mercy Corp and Save the Children.

Check out our full photo gallery and let us know your thoughts on the sights of SDCC 2013.

SDCC13XTRA: A Sneak Peek of ‘Vikings’ Season Two

Vikings

Vikings is having a moment. Season one of History’s series became the #1 new cable series of the year. A massive Viking’s Interactive Waterway at San Diego Comic Con let face ships on the water. The show’s panel brought in a room full of ravenous fans, many in Vikings costumes or gear. Then attendees were rewarded with a special sneak peak at the highly anticipated season two of the historical drama.

Will Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard) survive? Skarsgard hinted that Floki may pop up in the second episode too but wouldn’t say anything further. But one thing we know for sure, this is not the same band of warriors we met last season.

The season one finale signaled a distinct change for Ragnar (Travis Fimmel), his family and his Vikings. Rollo (Clive Standen), switched his allegiance to Jarl Borg over Ragnar, pitting him directly against his brother, who continues to represent King Horrik. Back at home, Ragnar’s wife, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), saw their daughter succumb to the deadly plague that wiped out most of the village. While his village mourns, Ragnar is tearing his family apart even further by beginning an affair with the sultry Princess Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland), who now believes she is carrying his son.

SDCC13 Recap: How I Survived ‘The Walking Dead Escape’

The Walking Dead Escape Survivor Cover Image

Sadly, Comic-Con 2013 is over, but luckily I survived. And that’s not just some cheesy metaphor. Every year there seems to be some fluke accident or Hall H pencil stabbing that occurs so there is always that off chance things might go awry.

For me, it could have happened when I went through The Walking Dead Escape. As we have mentioned in the past, The Walking Dead Escape is a zombie run combined with a pretty intense obstacle course which left my palms scarred since SDCC 2012. This year though I was determined to be a survivor and I had a plan.

Most importantly was that this time I wasn’t alone. Joining me on the course this time were The Flickcast’s WallE and our own social media ninja Marissa (sadly a social media ninja’s main powerset revolves around social media and not the art of ninjitsu but we made due).

SDCC13: Check Out the Book 2 Trailer for ‘The Legend of Korra’

Legend-Korra-Book-2

When the Avatar dies, a new Avatar is chosen right away. When The Legend of Korra season one ended, fans had to wait a bit longer for the new season. Returning almost 18 months after the season finale of Book One: Air, Book 2: Spirits premieres this September on Nickelodeon and it looks incredible.

Those at the Korra panel at SDCC responded to a special screening of the first episode, “Rebel Spirit,” with roaring applause. Spirits picks up six months after Air with Republic City slowly returning to normal now that Amon and the Equalists are gone. But Korra has a new battle to face when the physical and spirit worlds collide, pushing her to discover more about both realms.

Book 2 will also explore the origins of the Avatar with Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead’s Glenn) voicing the very first Avatar, Wan. Ten thousand years before Korra’s time, Wan was just a teenage and skilled bender whose quest to bring balance between mankind and the spirits led to him become the first to master all four elements.

Originally slated to return this summer, the extra few months looks like it will be well worth it. The trailer is stunning in its teasing of storylines (Korra enters the Spirit World! Spirit Library with the terrifying owl!) and the beauty of the animation paired with the quiet musical score of the show.
