Phoenix Jones Shows Dating Coach Adam London How to Be a Real Life Superhero

Real Life Superheroes Cover Image

What would it be like to be a real life superhero? While we don’t have people sticking to walls, flying across the planet or shooting lasers from their eyes, there are groups of men and women who work together in an effort with local law enforcement to help protect their communities. One such self-made super hero is Phoenix Jones.

Jones and the rest of the Rain City Superhero Movement help protect the streets of Seattle, WA. Unlike Stan Lee’s So You Want To Be a Superhero which created fictional personas, Phoenix and the rest of the Rain City Superhero Movement are the real deal.

Phoenix Jones, a former MMA fighter, recently took world renowned pickup artist and dating coach Adam London on one of their nightly patrols. London, who talks about trying to experience everything in an effort to make his life more interesting and build attraction, takes to the streets with Jones on a night of patrolling. As you will see below, even though London, Jones and the rest of their group don’t engage in an actual altercation, there is some real danger to what they do.

Box Office Report: ’42’ Gets Earns a Win, ‘Scary Movie 5’ Commits All of the Errors

BoxOfficeBanner-Recovered-Recovered-Recovered-RecoveredIf you get the clumsy baseball references in the title than you get that this weekend was won by 42. The Jackie Robinson biopic earned an estimated $27+ Million, giving the film one of the strongest baseball movie debuts of all time. The film took advantage of perfect timing and well delivered advertising to get out of the gate strong. Despite the impending the parade of competition, the new baseball season should continue to allow the film to stay relevant for a few more weeks than it really should.

Bombing into second place is Scary Movie 5 which managed to pull in $15 Million, and providing tangible proof that no one cares about the spoof franchise any more. If any one is a victor in this instance it would be the Wayne’s Brothers. They conjured up the franchise with the first brilliant film, but eventually parted ways by the third film. The brothers Waynes got back into the horror spoof game earlier this year with A Haunted House, which shines an even larger light on Scary Movie 5‘s failure.

Sticking in third place is the newest hit from Dreamworks, The Croods. Easing a very light 36%, the film brought in another $13 Million giving the film a total haul of nearly $150 million, which is huge for a new animated IP from a studio with a mixed track record. There still remains scant children entertainment competition in the upcoming Box Office calender, so the film should still perform well in the coming weeks.

HBO Sets Return Date for Aaron Sorkin’s ‘The Newsroom’

the-newsroom-daniels

Great news today from HBO Sorkin fans as the network has announced the return date for his show The Newsroom. Fortunately, our suspicions about the show’s future were unfounded and the date of July 14th will se the show back where it belongs.

Heck, we will admit we were a bit skeptical when the cast for this show was first announced. Jeff Daniels as the conflicted but crusading anchor of a cable news show that suddenly finds a conscience? The guy from Dumb and Dumber? Okay. And let’s not get started on Olivia Munn.

Fortunately, our reservations about Mr. Daniels were completely unfounded and even Munn has started to grow on us, a little. The most important take-away here is that if you not currently watching Sorkin’s The Newsroom, you should be. And now you’ll get a chance when July 24th comes around.

In addition to Daniels and Munn, the show stars Emily Mortimer, Sam Waterston, Alison Pill and Terry Chimes. Jane Fonda also appeared in several episodes of the first season, but try not to let that put you off the show. It’s actually quite good casting, truth be told.

It’s nice to see Sorkin back where he belongs, on a network where ratings are less important and he can pretty much say what he wants. Can’t wait.

‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ Gets a New Trailer for ‘Mob of the Dead’ DLC

Black Ops II Mob of the Dead Cover Image

Earlier this week, we touched upon the Mob of the Dead portion of the Uprising DLC pack coming to XBox 360 on April 16th for Call of Duty: Black Ops II. In it, mobster movie icons Chazz Palminteri, Joe Pantoliano, Michael Madsen, and Ray Liotta take on the roles of four Alcatraz inmates getting ready to bust out only to find out an undead, demonic horde has broken in to the tightest security prison in the world.

In the trailer below, you’ll get some back-story on the fictional mobsters modeled after these stars and find out just where they fall into the prison hierarchy before everything starts going south. As with other new versions of the infamous Zombie mode, you’ll also see new zombies to deal with and traps to hatch. There is also a brief look at the new purgatory game mode as well.

You Know You Want To See This: Full Trailer for ‘The Hangover’ Part 3 Drops

hangover-part-3-1

What can you say about The Hangover “franchise” that hasn’t already been said? Sure, it features an odd cast that for some reason clicks together very well, an absurd premise that for some reason works very well and many other elements that, on paper, should have probably made the first movie a flop — or at the very least relegated to DVD.

Well, as you know, that didn’t happen. In fact, the first one was a monster hit that spawned a sequel and made household names of its stars. And now, we’re in for the final chapter of the franchise: The Hangover Part 3.

The first full trailer has dropped today for the movie and it’s pretty much what you would expect. Although, that may have a lot to do with the fact that with this trailer, the marketing department is trying to give you more of the same to help you remember why you loved these movies in the first place. Expect some different trailers and such later on.

Meantime, check out this new one after the break. Look for The Hangover Part 3 to hit theaters on May 24th.
